EGM's April 2006
issue sports a short entry under its monthly Rumor Mill section telling readers to expect a Lost video game
this fall for unspecified consoles. The Q also claims that the playable adaptation will "even feature an online multiplayer mode called something like 'Passengers versus The Others.'" Predicting possible genres is sketchy at this point, but one could imagine modes such as Capture the Hatch, Pregnant Woman Rescue, and Team Freak-out popping up like a season or two's stranded passenger hallucinations. (Then again, maybe not...)
Whatever the case may be, is this alleged adaptation of ABC's hit TV show a clever April Fools' Day con, or does it signify the next step in viral game licensing (with a series that's as ARG-y as they come)? Given the nature of licensed television titles--if true--it's unlikely that the property will hit next-gen consoles at launch with only the Xbox 360 in sufficient stock for the holidays this year. Episodic content for a console version of Lost would probably not occur, either, as developers usually have to play catch-up with the typically fast-moving plotlines of their TV-based material (at least in comparison to an average game development cycle). We're forced to wonder, however, how such a game would work as an online shooter, action-fighting hybrid, or story-centric mystery/RPG. Puzzling...

You see a hatch. Do you:
a) Try to open it
b) Steal food
c) Have a fight with Sawyer

There you have a tropical island, you're lost, and the island is infested with baddies and underground corridors.

This would be a crap game, but since 96% of all games are crap now what's the difference. Do it, it will sell millions but water-down the industry and make it harder for real games to get attention that don't use Steam.

No way for me
Lost is just a marvellous creation as tv movie.
Don't know, with all those experiments tried in the past ,if this will be a good idea....
Leave it as it is

"Garcia discusses what it would take to turn Lost into a video game. “When you think about the logistics of turning Lost into a video game, it would be really tough,” he remarks. “Lost has actually been described in many ways as a video games at times, where you can be searching around on the island for awhile and then finally discover the hatch – the way we did on the show. You’d really have to be able to make it like one of those big sandbox format video games, where you can go off and go to a lot of different areas. I think the best way to do the game, too, would be after you solve it at the end, if they let you restart the game as an Other.”

Really?
I don't think gamers will really get into this but this might be a good way (if the game is good) to get non gamers into games. Now we just have to figure out how to get the anti-gamers into games.
How would you make a Pat Robertson or Jack Thompson video game. They should also make an Opra Vs. The View Game. They might just expand the market.

The writers HAVE sketched the ending of the series (they say it will take 5-6 seasons)... but they haven't written EVERYTHING. A lot of things are open to change... just look at how much dialog has been thrown in because of viewer response! (um, the new washer and dryer thing from Libby, the "alternate dimension" talk from Hurley when on the beach with Sayid, countless others.)
And, Justin, I suggest you stick around for the last 7 episodes of this season. We are supposed to have a resolution of the Michael/Walt issue AND find out HOW and WHY the plane crashed. And you've got to admit Maternity Leave answered a lot of questions (though, in good fashion, it asked a lot more, too).
As you can see, I'm kind of a LOST fanatic. Please don't ruin my show by making a crappy video game out of it. I have nightmares of "Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game" already as it is! ;)

To 11: Sorry dude, you clicked on the comments for an article about a game based on Lost. What'd you think would happen. Also, what's the holdup? I hear you can download those episodes for only 2 bucks a pop (or free, depending on your morals).
