Halo 3 coming spring 2007

Though Microsoft declined to comment, IGN is reporting that Halo 3 will be hitting stores in the spring of 2007. From the article: "The next Halo is coming in March 2007. According to a Microsoft source who asked to remain anonymous and a second source close to the company, IGN today learned that Microsoft will publish the next Halo game (as predicted in January) in March 2007. When phoned, Microsoft declined to comment."

Let's see if we can't confirm this in LA at this year's E3. Just a few short weeks away.

Pls don't blaze if my memory is off, (which it alwasy is) but im calling BS on this.

MS say they are going to attack the PS3 launch with this. OR I've heard the game will drop the same time as the movie... whenever that is.

Either way, this game is the factor that will make me think it's high time to buy a 360... (second hand, lol)

I heard from this guy I met on the street that his postman knows this guy who works at bungie and says HALO3 is coming out in May.

If someone wanted to pull an April Fool's joke, believe me, they would (I hope) be able to think of something better than a fake Halo 3 release date. I mean, c'mon people. A more realistic April Fool's joke would be 'Halo 3 to be released in May 2006' or 'Halo 3 is not being made.' This is actually a realistic timeframe for the new Halo.

That being said, I hope this one actually has a decent single player mode. Seriously, the multiplayer is just wicked, but Halo and Halo 2's single player sucked so much ass it's not even funny.

I would rather wait until Thanksgiving 2007 and have the polished, next gen game we all want to see. This title will be huge, let's be patient.

The original Halo single-player was one of the best video games ever because of its story line, that guy. I agree Halo 2's single player could have been better. I still played Halo 2 about 8 times thru anyway (I played Halo thru about 30 times).

Halo 2 online is the only game I play. The online play and matchmaking is the best I ever experienced.

Halo 3 in Spring 2007, if it is ready, is believable. I hope they end the story and provide an even better online experience. And I hope the movie is good (without Uwe Boll directing it, it has a chance).

yeh this makes sense...since MS seems to have Gears of WAr lined up to be the " killer app" this year...wudnt be smart to put both of those huge titles in the same time frame...gotta spread the love...

I was thinking April Fool's too, but this isn't really far-fetched enough for a joke.

I'm a little surprised that the date (if this is true and I'm not a gullble moron) is so early, really. I figured that the new game woudl be released closer to the release of the film. I'm sure it'll be delayed to the summer anyways.

And this way, Halo 3 will come out right about the time when supply of the PS3 is actually beginning to meet demand- just like the 360 is finally in stock in stores these days. So Gates' claim was true- Halo 3 is going to compete with the (de facto) launch of PS3.

I can't freakin' wait!

After Halo 2, I find it hard to get excited about Halo 3.
What are we going to get this time? Frame rate issues? Texture popping/swapping artifacts throughout? Any story? Any story ending?

I think Microsoft is not done milking the public with this one.

This being said, I hope Bungie will show some balls and prove they can juggle too.

It really doesnt matter when the game launches, gamers will still go crazy and buy it, and most likely break records again. Just becuase it luanches with the movie or during xmas doesnt mean its going to be better than any other launch timing.

If true, it will probably then be pushed back to Fall '07. And to prove that this will be the actual release date, Peter Moore will mix it up a bit from last time and tattoo the date on his left butt cheek, with a master chief on his inner thigh.

Why do people complain about the story in Halo 2? It's called a CLIFFHANGER ending. They teach you the concept in English class. It leaves the reader/viewer in suspense and guessing what will happen next. They do it in television and books on a daily basis.

Assuming that Halo will be a trilogy, the second iteration always has to end that way. It's how they pull you into the third iteration. The original Star Wars trilogy is a good example, although Empire's ending wasn't as dramatic.

Anyway, I hope Arbiter becomes more involved. He has a lot more character than Master Chief. Maybe co-op will feature the two side by side.

They should just release what they have done before christmas, leave us with another cliffhanger ending and start work on halo 4. just something next gen to tide us over.

Might be true. I still think the PS3 will slip past November. If that's true then Halo 3 will still smack right into the PS3 launch. Even if it doesn't slip, I seriously doubt you'll see big numbers of consoles available, you'll be faced with first genration titles versus an onslaught of pretty snazzy Halo 3 teasers.

They should just release the game in chapters, 1 chapter every month for 2 years. This way they can get all the halo fanboys to pay $50 for every chapter if they want to play the whole game. After that bungie should announce that no online play will be included because they dident think it was necessary.

I won't buy a 360 until there's something like this out for it that I really want. If Halo 3 had launched with the system I'd already have one and I'd probably have at least 3 or 4 other games as well. Microsoft looses money on people like me.

Timing the release of Halo 3 with the launch of the PS3 is unnecessary because I've already made up my mind. I will have 2 consoles: a Revolution and a 360. The only question is when I'll buy them.

I realize that I'm probably in the minority and there are millions who could go either way, PS3 or 360, and that's why it makes sense to wait. Still, I wonder how many there are out there who are like me.

I would rather they take their time with Halo 3 then release it ASAP...

1) because I don't even HAVE a 360 as of yet
and
2) because the longer it takes, the more polished it will be

that said, they really need to release SOME information that Halo 3 exists sometime soon, hopefully at this coming E3.... knowing nothing is annoying.

Bungie has stated over and over that Halo 3 will come out when it's ready. Yeah it'd be a nice thing to happen but don't hold your breath.

Don't forget that there's Halo movie in the works and obviously the release will coincide with the launch of the movie...

Screw the damn PS3 - who cares?!

I doubt they will try and make another cliffhanger for Halo 3, and that's not just because I hope they won't. Most games that I have seen do best in two-fers or trilogies. Few games series with continuous storylines go past a third game (eg: Jak, Prince of Persia, Timesplitters). A fourth Halo would make everyone too weary of Halo games and they would simply move on to another FPS.

don't count PS3 out of the loop yet. I don't care what anyone says, it's nothing but fanboyism and conspiracy theories to call the yay/nay factor of a console(or anything for that matter) before you can get your hands on it. and considering that I never understood why Halo was so good (I've played both front to back, they suck), I doubt I'm even going to bother looking at this one. Also, what ever happened to the PC version of Halo 2? all i know is that it's going ot require Windows Vista(the new OS) to run.
