March 2007 Halo Happy?

I'll say that:

a.) That date is most likely bologa, and

b.) I can wait as long as they take to make it.

Halo 2 was a good game. Alot of people didn't like it, but then again alot of people didin't like Halo 1 or Half-Life 2, either. If Bungie takes five years to make Halo 3, so be it. As long as it's the best XBox 360 game ever, it'll have served its purpose, or at least the purpose everyone wants it to serve.

I think that whatever Halo 3 turns out to be, it'll rock. Mabye it won't be the be all end all of games, but in the very least it'll be an enjoyable experience.

Does anyone trust IGN? I know I don't. It may ring true, but I'm taking it with a heavy dose of salt. Besides, I can wait for Halo 3; Perfect Dark Zero is providing me with more fun than Halo 2 ever did. ;)

IGN also claimed the new PDZ maps would be out by the end of MArch. Well its march 31st now and I dont see the maps being released. IGN is a bunch of BS.

I hope Microsoft pulls a "sony". The days leading up to the ps3 microsoft should show the peter jackson's movie trailer and say "this is the minimal graphical goal for the new Halo game"

I think cap-n-cruch was sort of on the right track. I think MS will use the Halo movie to generate hype for the game or vice versa. There's nothing like the name Peter Jackson to generate hype for your product. Although this massive delay sort of delays the one killer app everyone is/has been waiting for but depending on who you are GR:AW or Oblivion might be that killer app right now. IMO the release schedule for the next several months doesn't look all that exciting with the exception of Gears of War and a few sporadic titles there doesn't seem to be any flood of good games coming. I hope X360 doesn't turn out to be like what people say about PSP in that there were good games in the beginning and then nothing for a long time.

I knew Halo 3 would be delayed because right after Halo 2 they where saying it's time for a break, and with no news of development happening on Halo 3, that only meant nothing was being worked on at the time..

I fully understand that for a game like Halo it takes a long time to get it done right and to do things bigger and better takes even longer.

I just hope that in the end Halo 3 and Halo 4 (which hopefully will come out in less then 6 moths after halo 3) will be games that we never dreamed we would see possible from a console.

As long as they keep the game fun, the rest is just icing on the cake…

What’s funny is I had written a whole script for Halo 3’s intro, ever since Halo 2 ended my mind was racing on how Part 3 would begin.

Now I won’t waste your time pasting the whole thing here, because who wants to read all that, but to give you the short version it was kind of like this –

Master Chief lands on the Aliens - Covenant Planet and is at first undetected.

He soon learns that the Covenant is planning an attack on earth that is bigger then any attack they have done on other planets. Because they have done this before they are well prepared with huge ships and warriors that out number earths population. They have begun building super soldiers to destroy Master Chief and soldiers like him. Master Chief heads out to an air field where he tries to make contact back with earth, he becomes surrounded, and a battle takes place between him and the super soldiers where he is left for dead. After which he is captured instead of destroyed and cloned. –(but once copied the Aliens decided to make him better and redesign his suit - their copy is three times more advance then Master Chief and they make dozens of them all in red and send them to earth leading small groups of super soldiers to destroy earth. The attack on earth is so brutal that all efforts to save earth rest on a rescue mission to return Master Chief to earth to lead the war.

The effort to save Master Chief turns into a nightmare and in the madness Master Chief is killed from gun fire as the Ship pulls off from the Covenant planet. With the ship going down from being on fire and taking too much damage one soldier puts his hand on Mater Chiefs chest and says “ I can’t believe it’s over, I can’t believe he’s dead…. This is it, this must be the end.” The Commander walks over to the soldier while holding the straps in the ship so he doesn’t fall out the doorway which is now stuck open from the damage. He replies “What did you think you where going to live for ever! Everyone dies sooner or later even him, even him. I knew this mission was a bust the minute we left earth, but I don’t give the orders, I take them. So mount up soldier, whatever’s left of the ammo grab it and don’t fire unless you know you can hit something.”

Shifting game to next spring they give chance to other companies to produce a potential hit. But if Halo come out earlier movie it will be a good PR for the movie. Of course if the game won't fail

I don't know why everyone's always talking about Halo 3's release date being pushed around and how it's overhyped and whatnot. There is no release date. There never was a release date. There's no hype because the game hasn't even been announced. No information has come from credible sources about whether it's even being developed.

I didn't he comes back in the second half with more powers after they crash on the Covenant and find out they can bring him back to life...

Not surprised by this at all, because Halo takes a good amount of time to be developed. Look at Halo 2, that game took about three years to be developed, and the original took quite some time (and shifted between platforms). That is why I was surprised people wanted Halo 3 so quickly.

Its rather you wait awhile and get a really good game or get a not-that-good game real quick.

Though Halo 2's ending stunk (I am sure Bungie learned not to do that ever again), I am sure Halo 3 will be much better over all, from game play, to story, to multiplayer, even to physics.

WTF?!? Spring?!? Cmon...this is ridiculous. The whole put for Xbox 360 is Halo 3 in my eyes and now I have to wait till spring? Bungie moved into their new building awhile back...they should have been working on something all this time cause I dont see any new maps to download. No Halo 3 by Nov, no Xbox 360 for me. What games are coming out for PS3 again?

Why did Halo2's ending stink? Only because it was a cliffhanger (ie not really an ending). Makes people want Halo3 even more, doesn't it? That's a good thing for Bungie et. al. Oh and no long copy/paste for me. Just this litle blurb:

i sure as hell hope Halo 3 is better than 2... i hated 2 with a passion except for the 1st 2 or 3 levels..playing as the covenant was just idiotic ( plus you couldn't play as a Hunter), and they removed the good assualt rifle and shotgun, replaced the magnum with a different, weaker version, and it was no were near as fun to play. ( although the Ghost improvements and added vehicles were a plus but not enough). how about make a non-linear story, and even command your own team..that way they're not so fucking stupid. oh yeah, don't fuck up the graphics like in 2..god they looked horrible. and that was after they completely loaded. go back to the basics, fix the health bar, and just make a kick ass game like the first...

It's arC not arK, as in Noah's arc, with all the animals. It's not the ark of the covenenant, that's Indiana jones.

As for Halo 3, I'm sure it'll be either the centerpiece at E3, or announced. By e3 it will nearly have been 2 years since the release of Halo 2, plenty of time to have something new and crazy up and running.

And number 6, crazy glue, are you seriously talking about a *delay* to a game that isn't even ANNOUNCED yet? The internets crack me up.

Despite how the campaign mode was a bit of a dissapointment in Halo2...everyone loves the game more for it's multiplayer. Until I played Battlefield 2 on the 360...I had not seen a better FPS Multiplayer on any console. And even then...battlefield is a different feel. Halo2 on Xbox Live was absolutely amazing. I'm still playing it to this day and so are a crap load of people. It's still Xbox Lives #1 Played game.

Halo3 will kick ass if only for the fact that it will surely have improved online play...Crazy graphics on the 360 in High Def and what's still one of the better Story Lines and worlds of any FPS shooter.

It's a game people will play year after year...it's just that good.

No I think they are going to release it in March beacuse it helps them sell more consoles I will explain my line of thought. When the PS3 releases around the holliday season most people wont be able to get their hands on one, and its evident that when that happens other consoles benefit. There was prof of that this last holliday season when people could'nt get a 360. That being said I'm sure the hype of the 360 will still be going so they will sell out of 360s again having the holidays help out. By waiting till Match it gives Microsoft just enough time to get their inventory back up and by releasing Halo 3. It will give them another push on console sales and again stealing some thunder from the PS3 and gives Microsoft a running head start on Console sales. And maybe again when the movie of Halo 3 comes out another push.

This isn't suprising, and in a way it's still countering the PS3 launch...
Think about it. Xbox 360s are still not to be found in stores. It's the end of March 2006. Being that the PS3 will launch in early November, we can expect a PS3 shortage to continue into March and April. Therefore, many people will have not picked up a PS3 yet when Halo 3 hits store shelves.

jon, #16, while I agree with you that everyone does love H2 for it's groundbreaking multiplayer, can you really say that Battlefield 2 multiplayer for the 360 is better? Don't get me wrong, it's pretty fun, but it is far from a better multiplayer. In fact, the only thing that BF2 has going for it over H2 is that there are no cheaters. yet.

Hey now, BF2MC on 360 is some fun stuff. Reminds me of PDZ, but without the suck.

And honestly, if Bungie re-released Halo 2 with next-gen graphics and replaced the BR with the AR and the Magnum with the old pistol, people would be more than happy to pay anoter 50-60 bucks for it. Why? Because people are stupid.

Halo 3 will, as I said earlier, be a good game. It may not be great, or it may blow every single one of us away, but what I do know is that March 2007 is a BS date. If MS is smart, they'll release it alongside the movie and give everyone a double dose of Halo in '07.

I agree, BF2MC is a fantastic game and I can't wait to buy it in April.

Halo 2 was developed mostly in less than 18 months. The Phoenix project occupied the other time before it was canned.
