With inventories on the rise, phony 360 bundles aren't the
problem they once were (cough...Best Buy) but they still exemplify retail monkey greed. Here's a cautionary tale about a
rogue Electronics Boutique store manager trying to shove three extra accessories down the gaming public's throat.
Luckily our hero kept after customer service and ended up getting 20% off his Xbox 360:...To my surprise she said it was required that I buy 3 Accessories. I said WHAT!?, she confirmed that in order to purchase the 360 I had to buy 3 Accessories with it. Immediately it seemed to me that there was some thing very wrong here. I was sure it was the manager forcing accessories to boost his sales and profits and attach rates Since as you know stores make a little profit off the actual 360 but alot of money off the over priced accessories.I called other EB's and none had this forcing bundle policy I knew then it was a dirty manager pulling dirty tricks.
...Now I was really mad so I called EB Corporate again 1 (800) 800-5166. I got a very nice company rep I'm pretty sure he was American and in the 48 states not in some far of call center in India (no offense) he was knowledgeable and the call connection was clear. He took down my complaint and reasured me that I would get a call back very soon.
With in 15 Minutes lets call her Jenny from Gamestop Corporate HQ orCustomer Service called me in a very appologetic and worried tone. Mr. Jones (not my real name) I am Jenny and she identfied herself.
She explained how she went undercover and called the store and pretended to be a customer and inquired about the 360 Sales, she indeed verified my story and called the District Manager who I had spoken to eariler she informed me he was furious and she graciously and appoligtically offered the District Managers most sincere appologies and an immediate 20% off my 360 for my trouble.
Here's proof of the subsequent happy ending.
