Ensemble busts AoE punks
In a move that
mimics recent actions taken by Blizzard and Square Enix, Ensemble
Studios announced over the weekend that they have taken corrective action against Age of Empires III abusers.
Cheating, hacked decks, point trading, and even racist chat channels were cited as reasons for account bannings via CD
key deactivation.Read more about Ensemble's online policies at their AoE3 community web site.

Via CD key? That's kind of cruel. No doubt a lot of cheaters will be buying new copies of the game. Considering most people playing these games could get banned for one reason or another(I know I've been the jerk before) it'd be funny if Blizzard/Square Enix/Age of Empires game sales went up.

I don't think CD-Key deactivation is very effective because I have seen a number of key generators for the game so you deactivate one. The offenders can just uninstall the game and reinstall with a new key. Granted they may loose their player I'm not sure if the character is deleted or not as I haven't played the game. But the cheaters can get it back real quick. Also I don't think they play the game to build up their player but just to screw with other peoples enjoyment.
