The thing is, a game like Silent Hill adapts itself better to film than a lot of the others that have been attempted. It's atmospheric, it's story-driven, and though I haven't played all of them (or even fully through any of them), I do recall sitting there for parts thinking "am I watching a movie, or is this game going to actually let me do something."

I think it'll do quite well, the trailers look pretty damn good.

seriously, the preview to this film scared the bejesus out of my girlfriend and we both can't wait to see it. i'll be very suprised if this one actually sucks (and normally i'm as pessimistic as mr. vince up there).

I, for one, will definitely be seeing this when it comes out.

The only other adaptation title that I've seen was Resident Evil and I thought it was horrible. It disgraced the series with its bad acting (Michelle Rodriguez has to be the WORST actress in Hollywood) and cheesy effects. I steered clear of Mr. Bole's films entirely.

Who knows? If Silent Hill actually succeeds in breaking the stigma surrounding video game adaptations, maybe the Halo movie has a chance too.

lol… My girlfriend told to go to joystiq because someone posted the picture I took. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to submit it here myself. Oh well. Here’s hoping they don’t screw this movie up.

I saw the trailer for this before V to Vendetta and it actually looked very promising!

The only reservation I have is that as far as I can tell from the trailer, athmospherically it was so accurate to the game, so creepy, so nasty, that you may not actually be able to take your girl to see this unless she likes stuff like Dead Alive.

What stigma, the original Mortal Kombat movie was probably the best adaptation of a video game turned into a movie. With the Street Fighter movie coming right behind it in 2nd place.
