"Opening the Xbox" author and Mercury
News blogger Dean Takahashi is currently finishing up a new book on the Xbox 360, and he'll be offering us a weekly

quite comprehensive, and stretches back longer than you might think. "The Xbox 360 Uncloaked" will be

I have a question! Why do we even need a book on the Xbox 360? It has not even been out for a year! Does Microsoft really believe they are being 'historic'? What is next, a documentary on the making of Halo 3 right after it comes out?
Did Microsoft hire this guy to write down the "story" of the holiness that is Xbox? I suspect this book is pushed more by Microsoft than any demand of the consumers.
Do consumers even want this book? I hear much interest in companies such as Atari and Nintendo, mostly due to nostalgia and due to their impact, and perhaps the playstation 1, but I have never heard anyone go, "You know what I need? A book detailing the history of Xbox chronology."

Varian: Dean Takahashi is a fairly well respected journalist with the San Jose Mercury News. He also wrote an (excellent) book on the launch of the first Xbox called Opening the Xbox.
I don't know about you, but when the world's richest company spends billions because they see part of their future in video games, it strikes me as historic... no?
