I don't know, but with that on the back of the 360 along with the wireless thing...it looks preatty cool. Oh, I found out that(with atleast my 360) it gets much hotter when vertical.

Well...i got one at gamestop too
Got the protection policy on it just in case and soo far.
It is great...i have it turned off for DVD play (thats what i do the most) but when it comes to game play i turn it on.
It keeps the games running smooth(oblivion) and the Xbox running cool.
It runs loud but so does the Xbox when games run.
I will recomend this product.

Why in the world would anyone purchase this thing? Don't you know that MS spent millions of dollars developing the 360 and it has gone through rigourous product testing. Haven't you heard that CD scratching is caused by user error...not the 360. Do you not know that a hand full of folks after launch blogged about their 360's overheating...and the press made a big deal of those handful of people.

When was the last time you heard of a 360 scratching a Disc??? Or when was the last time you heard of a 360 overheating. I mean seriously...why would anyone buy this???

If your 360 is overheating...it is defective...send it back to be repaired or replaced...don't purchase a 3rd party joke of a peripheral.

I picked one up as an alternate to a USB fan that I had. The problem with USB is that is it still powered when the 360 is off so that's a pain. The auto-power on thing is great though. Definitely a LOT more airflow now and that can't be a bad thing.

Note: I had the same "no power" issue when I first plugged it in but realized that it wasn't seated properly. No problems since then.

And for those who say you shouldn't need one? Well, I agree but I've already smoked one 360 and if $20 can help avoid that again then why not?

How loud is loud? I have DLP with a fan in it and the 360 ain't whispering either. So would it be on par with having another 360 running, or DVD drive spinning? Too much more white noise and it would affect movie watching.

I got one and I haven't had any problems. It's a known fact that the 360 runs hot. I don't think that MS intended for their system to run at an average temperature of 90 degrees. (I would think that's bad for the system components itself. Especially if you're 360 is crammed in an entertainment center with no ventilation!) I think the cooler is a solid investment. And 20 bucks is not that bad!

Ricky B, 90F is actually a great temp for the system, I would believe the current temps are closer to 120F than 90F. That's still not too high though, most processors have a tolerance of ~160F so it's still well within the range.

The heat thing is all hype. Computers get hot, it's a fact. I plugged my 360 into my entertainment center and haven't given how hot it is a second thought.

To all those that feel this product is merely hype or playing off people's fears, can you explain to how microsoft changed the laws of physics in relation to heat and entropy? No, you can't - because you don't know what you're talking about.

Even if 360s never overheated, lowering the internal temp. of your system by 10 degrees, or more, will prolong the longevity of your equipment - whether it's a video game or PC.

Granted we might be talking only a year or two, but even if it were just 5 days of added operational time that's better than 5 days less.

Any physics textbook can explain to you why lowering tempurate on circuit boards is a benefitial thing.

I don't buy the concept at all. Here's a sure way to extend the life of your 360 forever...(Well at least a couple of hundred years...you can pass it down to your ancestors)

...Don't ever turn it on or use is! Just think of the secure feeling of seeing that little CE hotrod on your entertainment center in the year 2014 or maybe even 2036. Yeah that's right you'd be the smart one and could laugh at all the other senior citizens that fried their 360s decades ago.

Guys these things are cheap. If it breaks buy another one.

I think one fact people are missing about this product is that:

1) It MUST put more stress on the 360s own fans as its pulling more air than they are (if it wasnt then it wouldnt make any difference in the temp whatsoever) and therefore also by sucking more air through its pulling them around faster. This in turn means they will be GENERATING electricity instead of using it, could very well not only fry the fans but the 360 circuitry as well.

2) Those fans are using more electricity and so putting more strain on the PSU. No point your 360 lasting forever if you have to keep replacing the PSU because you overloaded it. Remember, the 360 is only designed for 2 USB devices so its likely it only has 1.5A of spare capacity at 5V and possibly very little to none if its tapping any other voltage line. Also if you are using the WiFi card thats probably taking 500ma so you are down to 1A. Now if you are running 2 wired pads as well the above then you are almost DEFINATELY pushing the PSU past its quoted limit.

So while cooling the 360 more is good, the only practical way to do that would be to mod the internal fans.

The internal fans are temperature sensing, if your box is overheating then your room is too hot, you do not have sufficient airflow (id suggest adding extra rubber feet if your box is horizontal as the feet dont seem to allow ideal airflow from the bottom in that position) or its faulty. The 360 is designed to cool as required, if it isnt doing that then you shouldnt be spending money to achieve that its up to Microsoft to give you a box that DOES work properly.

Based on the number of people buying this item and being satisfied, I would say it is a product worth buying. It is cheaper than paying for INSURANCE that you are paying at GAMESTOP or BESTBUY. Cosider this similar to a $20 insurance policy. It is not something everyone buys but this product does help keep your xbox 360 cooler.
