Free Oblivion horse armor coupon with PC version

Interested in buying Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the PC but the $1.99 horse armor at obliviondownloads.com is scaring you away? Lucky for you, EB Games / GameStop is now offering these coupons with every purchase of Oblivion for the PC, featuring a promo code good for one free download of the Horse Armor pack.
Running the Xbox 360 version, you're still stuck ponying up the MS points. Already bought the PC version and the horse? Well, better late than never, right?
[Thanks, Matt]

I'm enjoying Oblivion, but if that is real and not just fan photoshop joke, that is the worst promotion ever.

The obliviondownloads site says, "NOTE: If you have a special promotion code you will be prompted to enter it before completing your order so that you will not be charged for that item."
Sounds legit to me.

Wow! Now I can have that horse armor!
Thank you gamestop!!!

It's just a skin. False advertising and overpriced junk.

The Horse armor is a nice idea, truthfully. And honestly, pay-for mods aren't that bad an idea if the developers are creating them (they do, after all, have jurisdiction over what can and can't be distributed by payment.)
But as I've said- Shadowmere (the awarded horse from the Dark Brotherhood quests) is the only horse who really needs it, as she attacks hostiles immediately, and that armor looks really cumbersome...

what is the point of pay-to-download special items for a single player-only game? i can understand getting special gear/weapons in mmo's and fps multiplayer games where you can show off your special stuff, or put it to l33t use...
but what is the point of it here? show off your special horse armor to your mom? w00t! O_o

So... if I bought the game before this promo (from a GameStop, no less), and haven't bought the horse armor, can I get free horse armor? My local 'Stops and EBs say no deal, even with my reciept. :(

What I want to know is how 'Quantities are limited'

Each store received a stack of coupons. It is entirely dependant on the store and it's manager as to whether or not simply bringing in a receipt will work or not. My store does it, but not all will. What I'd do is call around and find a local EB that will, or say that they did it for a friend of yours. Of course, you could always come up to Wisconsin and get a code from us.
Matt @ Apr 7th 2006 10:45PM
To be a nice guy (and because I can get myself another code), I'll post mine here. All you need to do is go to obliviondownloads.com with it and register it. Let us know how the horse is, whoever gets to this first. :)

Now i'm not saying I need the horse armor to complete my Oblivion experience, but what about the fans who purchased the game from launch date till the release of this promo code shenanigans? We're left high and dry? That's most uncool
Matt @ Apr 8th 2006 5:44PM
As I said before, many stores are letting you pick up a promo code upon presentation of your receipt (provided you bought it at their or another EB/Gamestop store). This is, however, at the sole descretion of the employee(s) working, so don't count on it always working. Our store, for example, will cover you if you purchased the PC version of Oblivion and have your receipt... it's not like we're selling the PC version much anymore to begin with.
Sales of Oblivion died down greatly after the first two weeks, which is why I find it rediculous for them to be waiting to do this until now.

I still don't understand how Bethesda doesn't think the 'warez' community will distribute their pay-for-download mods for free.
Sabre @ Apr 11th 2006 1:03AM
Ok seriously...are people THAT cheap that they have to bitch about spending $2.00? Micropayments aren't something that no one was expecting. I mean (in a way) the episodic content being done for SiN and the Half-Life 2 expansion is sort of the same thing.
Nathan G. @ Apr 11th 2006 5:14AM
See if it was something they were planing on putting in the game it should be free thats why companies make expansion packs to add content in game. Im not paying 2 bucks for a little addon when in months there might be an expansion with it in there and alot of other goodies.
Sabre @ Apr 12th 2006 2:48AM
No one is making you or anyone else buy it so for people have a hissy fit about this is REALLY stupid.
chem @ Apr 20th 2006 2:24PM
I just got my promo code via email, and guess what? It doesn't work. They still want $1.99.
