El Moco has sent us some very convincing (e.g. not
fake) magazine scans from the latest Game Informer. In it, Ubisoft shows off some screens from its title
Red Steel, set for release on the Revolution. That's right, folks: it looks like we have some official
Revolution screens. As you can see (you can view all 3 scans by clicking on the image or the "read" link below), it is a first-person shooter that utilizes the RevMote just as we have all predicted it would.
Unfortunately, we cannot make out the text from any of the other two pictures. These images, however, look a lot better than we expected the initial Revolution titles to look (then again, many developers should be comfortable with the Revolution dev kits, as they share many similarities with the current-generation GameCube dev kits). Hopefully we will get some official screen shots of Red Steel (and indeed, other Revolution titles) very soon.
Update 1: A few of you have sent us word that Game Informer is touting its latest issue online. According to the page (again, we unfortunately do not have a copy of the magazine just yet), the game is from Ubisoft Paris. The page implies that these are actual screenshots, and confirms that more information will be found via Game Informer's online page as of April 20th.
Update 4: Corrected credit given to the Ubisoft Paris for work done by Ubisoft Montreal. Also corrected credit given to the translations (sorry, squiggle).
Update 5: Image, link to scans and transcriptions removed at the request of Game Informer.

Thats the beginning of a true revolution.

And it's looking about as I expected. I doubt you'll see many titles looking worse than Xbox games, it was a poor comparison in the first place.

What surprising news! Ubisoft Paris is responsible for some very high-calibur games, including some Splinter Cells and Ghost Recons if I'm not mistaken, and a third-party excessively violent sword/gun game could be a killer app for the Revolution launch, something that has never been achieved by a company other than Nintendo itself.
Things are looking up! I can't wait for scans.

Yes, those look like pretty good screens from a "low-end" system in "Low-D" and its a FIRST GEN game!

Of course, I could be wrong.

And they don't look doctored, but questionably in-game. I still think Revolution's gonna look hella better than Xbox, comparing the specs in the first place was simply ignorant.

Even if I'm wrong and these are shots, man doesn't it feel good to be vindicated. Nintendo and its supporters done me right.

Game Informer confirmed a Revolution-centric issue!

No, seriously, those shots are above and beyond what I, or even the gaming public, was expecting for the Rev to do. After seeing the "specs" on IGN I was really dicouraged, but this has fully restored my faith in the power of the Rev.
Crap + pants = very yes

I agree this looks more like a rails shooter than a first person shooter because those people are only using one hand. You would think you'd need the nunchuk for any FPS.

But to anyone that needs actual screens, just a month to go till E3.

2. Holding your gun sideways is a surefire way to institute a jam with a badly ejected shell casing getting stuck in the port and preventing the slide from functioning. It's also a really stupid way to aim.
3. BRING BACK HOGAN'S ALLEY
4. I hope even without HD that at least the rev has component video out, seeing as they removed it from the GC.

They may be, but if so they are heavily retouched.
We all know that the Rev will be running at standard resolutions. Well, run your favorite PC game at 640x480, take a screenshot and print it out. See if it looks anything like this.
I used to work at a publisher-who-will-remain-nameless and all publicly released screenshots were retouched prior to approval. Part of the retouching process (in fact, most of it) involved literally hand-drawing every single line in the screenshot so it was smooth. Basically you ended up with a hand-drawn version of the screenshot with in-game textures. That's what this looks like to me.

Fear at 640x480 looks better than that. Just not so much on a big TV.
