This would be a perfect fit for the revolution. All the pilotwings missions could be so easily adapter to the revmote. I hope this is true.

I remember when some of the first details about the Rev's new remote came out, they specifically mentioned using the remote like a toy plane where you control the attitude and bank, like a little kid would. My first thoughts went to Pilotwings since as I loved the SNES version so I'm glad to hear that they are going to do this game.

I do wonder a couple things though. First would be how to force the user to make less dramatic movements. A joystick works a little better in that regard because of how a plane's physics would work. For example, you can't simply turn a plane 180 degrees like you could a remote.

The other questions are how will you control some of the other crafts, like the jet pack. I could hold the remote perpendicular to the floor and maybe use the buttons for major and minor thrust, but I still run into physics problems with turning, or particularly, tilting forward or backward too much.

I'm sure they'll get all those little details worked out, however I'll definitely be watching any news on this title and seeing how Nintendo plans on changing the control scheme for the game.

Oh man I loved Pilotwings. Playing that game was so soothing. That one level that was a miniature United States, I could just take the Gyrocopter and fly around for an hour, filling up gas when I needed it at the gas station in Florida, or with the Jetpack you could explore the caves, it was so awesome.

Scooby Doo--

To provide a possible answer to your thoughts on controlling pilot wings with the Revmote, I offer this. I believe that the remote won't represent the plane or jetpack directly, but only interpret your movements to apply to the screen. Think of using a mouse. Perhaps you hold down a button while moving. And declick to move back to center and move some more. I think the best thing to do is to think of the revmote as a device that interprets movement to apply onscreen, not directly holding the plane, for instance. That probably wasn't very clear, but I will end with this thought: Nintendo wouldn't invest so largely in an idea, even to make it the main controller of a console, if they didn't believe it worked and if they didn't know that it works as perfect as needed to. So, like you, I am confident that it will all work out in the end.

"Will the third time be a charm?"

What? That usually implies the first two attempts didn't work out.

I'm thinking of the helicopter controls right now :)

Hold the remote flat, hit A to ascend, trigger to descend, tilt for pitch/roll, and turn it to yaw. Sweet.

I have a feeling the revmote will be used like a flight stick. I don't know the exact details on how the revmote transmits its position to the sensors, but I've read it will detect it regardless of whether it's pointed at the screen or not. It could be an infrared light that the sensors track around the room, or it could be the tilt sensitivity transmitting via RF... Either way, I think the best way to make use of it for Pilotwings would be to have it act as a flightstick and have the attachment control the throttle.
It could work.

"Sequels for N64 (Pilotwings 64 II) and GameCube were both cancelled."

the first two attempts DIDN'T work out.

Why is it no one takes into consideration the nunchuck attachment. Solves alot of problems with control scheme straight from the word Go!

I don't think you even need a nunchuck attachment for something like Pilotwings.

I know I'm in a small majority, but Pilotwings 64 was my favourite game on that system... It's easily one of my favourite games of ALL TIME. Amazing, amazing game. Anyone remember the bonus modes? Jumble hopper, skydiving, cannon shoot, skydiving, birdman... So fun! Just a really really awesome game.

Birdman was a cool mode indeed. I still have both games, fully operational too.

I really hope they make this game. There aren't many flight games that don't involve things exploding, and this is certainly one I look forward to.

Pilot Wings is the BEST!

I loved the game on the 64. spent HOURS playing it. It would be perfect for the revolution and the revolution controller.

heck, I would buy a revolution for that game alone.
