With the fiscal year ending last
March, it is obvious just how well handhelds, principally Nintendo's DS, have done in Japan. Asahi.com writes:
"Game magazine publisher Enterbrain Inc. reported the combined sales of handheld machines and titles soared 62
percent year on year... Sales of conventional consoles and game software, such as the PlayStation 2 from Sony Computer
Entertainment Inc., fell 18 percent."Handheld systems were more than triple the sales of home consoles. Is this due to the end of current-gen home systems or the rise of portable game use in the busy life of aging gamers?
