Xbox 360 owners who had Burger King drilled into their heads by egregious product placements in Fight Night Round 3 already know that the creepy man with the giant plastic head wants your business. But now they're also giving us a behind the scenes look at their big Xbox Video Game Collection promotion, which will offer three original BK-related Xbox and Xbox 360 compatible titles for sale ($4) along side your greasey value meal. It's not clear if Burger King wants this info out there as some sort of viral scheme (unlikely) or if the same pimply-faced teens who serve your fries are also working corporate security (The suits are already complaining about screenshots of the games leaked earlier this week). Either way, a FAQ about the program, apparently intended for franchisees, is now viewable on the web, allowing us to glean important information like consumer research data and the profit margin per game sold.
- The program delivers approximately $1.00 mark-up per unit sold to BK® franchisees (based on the delivered to Restaurant price) at the 6.8 million unit system quantity when sold at the recommended retail price of $3.99 (subject to Show of Support vote). If the minimum system order of 6.8 million units is not obtained the expected markup could be less than $1.00 (based on the delivered to Restaurant price).
- The recommended consumer price is $3.99 with the purchase of a Value Meal, including a 20-25% franchisee mark-up. This price point has been validated by BKC’s consumer research and is pending the Show of Support results for this promotion.
- 36% of BK® Super Fans (29% of all
respondents) indicated they would make a special visit to BURGER KING® restaurants
for this promotion.
- BK® Super Fans estimated the video game value to be $33 ($29 for total sample).
