(Regarding copyright) Nah, just look at Halo Zero.

For a second there, I thought you meant "loopy", and made a typo, I was about to make ya correct it, but it turns out its a different loopy after all :P

This looks like a nice game, and I will be playing the beta once its out.

Yea this would be crap IF it was being put out by nintendo but for someone putting it together with no promice of pay, it looks damn tasty.
I really thought nintendo would make a Zelda DS before anyone got a chance to homebrew one.

"Sorry, but platforming Zeldas have never been all that good."

the only real 'platforming' zelda was zelda 2, wasn't it? unless you count ocarina of time, since it used the mario 64 engine

with zelda 2 they tried to combine super mario bros and zelda, it basically failed
with ocarina of time, they tried to combine zelda with super mario, it worked incredibly well

i find that funny.

@#11

YOU BLASPHEME!!!

Zelda 2 is one of the best Zeldas in existance. It is the darkest to date, has more dialogue and actual plot related puzzles than any zelda to date, and is one of the 1st, if not the 1st action-rpg on a console.

OH, and this guy is going to get a cease and desist delivered strait to his door as soon as nintendo bigwigs find out.

#12:
I meant it basically failed in a financial sense, if I remember correctly. I don't remember it selling very well, and most reviews say that it wasn't that good.

personally, I never played it, so I can't say whether it was good or not.

I think it would be awesome for someone to make a Smash Brothers DS in that style of sprites. Not the background or anything but the actual characters.

Why do homebrewers insist on using licensed characters, this game looks well-designed for a homebrew and could be something more if it had it's own unique characters...

"Nah, just look at Halo Zero. "

The big difference being Halo is not a Nintendo title.

Go look up Nintendo's history with copyright infringement issues. They have a habit of coming down like a ton of bricks at the first sign of trouble.

Lupi? Is that the same guy who also went under the alias of LupiDan? If so, then I know who this is...

Well, it looks promising for a homebrew-title...

But...

I always HATED the Megaman Zero-styled Link.
I like Megaman Zero. But I always thought the MMZ-styled Link was fugly. I hope he gets a better sprite to use than that...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Nintendo couldn't sue the guy unless he charges people to download the final game, in which case he would be capitalizing on intellectual property to which he lacks the rights. Otherwise this is comparable to the innumerable conglomeration of authors out there who write fan fiction set in established universes and publish them on their favorite forums. Unless Nintendo could prove that a lone guy selling his homemade game is damaging to the company or to the brand somehow, I doubt they would look at this in anything but a positive light.

Hey, but I could be wrong. After all, a few months ago Vivendi tried to shut down a fan-made King's Quest game that had been in production for a few years and only relented after significant community backlash. Story here:

Yay! Another bunch of people making something halfway interesting and slathering trademarked material on it so they can get C&D'ed!

Really, we all complain about the lack of ideas out there and then we even have the little guys showing a lack of imagination (and common sense.)

------

Halo is MS property. MICROSOFT. If they didn't come down on Halo Zero it's because they saw it for what it was .. a cheap piece of crap that wasn't costing them a dime in lost sales.

Will this hurt Zelda sales? Hell no. Is it good enough to sell. Fuck no.

Next?

Am I the only one who thinks the "sprites" of Link in action look a lot like Zero from Megaman Zero? I'm surprised there isn't a hookshot which will serve as Zero's grappling thingy.

Bungie is a PC-centric game developer (in terms of philosophy) and take a libertarian approach to such things. Nintendo is a Japanese console company and tends to take a fascist approach (kind of like Tecmo with DOA mods). You may say that Halo belongs to MS, but Microsoft is a historically PC game company, too. Code tinkerers have gone all out with their games and they haven't really cared (which is how every company should be).

Ok this is Lupi here, the creator of this BLASFEME to the Zelda games. Let's go by steps:

1. I DO NOT have Nintendo approval, I DO NOT plan to sell this. I AM a Nintendo fanboy. I AM JUST learning some NDS coding. I WILL put this to DOWNLOAD FOR FREE for anyone who wants to try this "piece of crap".

2. This game IS AS ILLEGAL AS a picture of Pikachu that a boy puts in a fan art website. IS AS ILLEGAL AS a zelda flash movie or a zelda flash game. I think that the roms that you can download are much more illegal than this

3. I LIKE the sprites, yes, they are Megaman Zero'd and are made by a very good spriter called Semijuggalo

I don't know how will this game turn out, I am only doing this TO LEARN. I bet that none of you have ever tried NDS programming right? (well, maybe a few)
