Mahogany charging station for gadgeteers
At $199, only the well-heeled gamer need lust over this rich-looking mahogany charging station from Frontgate.
The product has been designed to charge up to four devices at once, be they cell phones, PDAs, MP3 players or mobile game devices (a GameBoy Advance SP is shown charging in this photo).
We're not sure if this
thing can handle a PSP, as those charging bays look a tad small for gaming's sexiest handheld, but the company offers a
generous, no-questions-asked 90-day return policy, so you may want to be a Joystiq guinea pig. Let us know if you get
one and it works out for you.

"those charging bays look a tad small for gaming's sexiest handheld"
Nah, I think the DS Lite would probably fit fine. :o)

I'd rather make my own. It's a nice idea, but I doubt it will sell too well.
Crazylink @ Apr 13th 2006 2:01AM
@Comment 1- Thats exactly what I was thinking.

Neat idea but there is one problem with it...it's Mahogany. All my furniture is gray or black with polished silver.
Sloopydrew @ Apr 13th 2006 2:31AM
That is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It looks like the box my great-granfather's shoe-polish was always stuck in.
I third the DS Lite being sexier than the PSP.
hatzop @ Apr 13th 2006 3:52AM
Come on guys... Do u really believe that the DS lite is sexier than PSP.... you must be kidding

This system is going to look horrible if you were actually going to use it charge devices--wires everywhere. Give me four docks any day of the week.

[ronburgandy] My apartment smells of rich mahogany. [/ronburgandy]
Sense @ Apr 13th 2006 9:01AM
Damn it, dvdguy! You beat me to it!
[ronburgundy] I have many leather-bound books. [/ronburgundy]

I love how some of you guys think black and silver furniture is the height of style. All that stuff says to most people is "cheap".
I've got a traditional Colonial-style house that was built in 1923 and has cherry wood floors and mostly wood furniture (a bit of iron and glass here and there). This thing is not exactly my style (I'm a bit more modern than this), but I do like the idea of a nicely finished wood charging table. Does anyone know of any others, preferably with a little more geometric of a look to them? (i.e. not quite so rounded-off, which does tend to look a bit elderly.)
I've actually been looking for something like this that would take care of my mess of wires and actually fit in with the rest of the house.

That is overpriced for a jewelry box. What exactly makes this thing particularly good for handheld electronic devices? Does it come wired? If it has plugs for all those devices built in and only one plug, then it might be worth it.
ray- you want a free psp too?: http://getpaid4freepsp.blogspot.com/

I built something similar for my girlfriend for Christmas and will be building a dozen more, in various configurations, in the next several months.

We are a typical family - not poor, not rich, just working for a living.
We have: 2 cell phones, 1 pda, 1 nds, 1 gbasp, 1 firefly mobile (for our son), and a battery charger because rechargables rock and save a fortune every year.
That's 7 things that constantly need recharging! I've been looking for something like this for over a year now, but like many of you, I think this just gives me ideas for making my own.
Here's a plastic one that let's you choose the size of the gadget. It's pretty cool, but overpriced and limited to only three items.

One more thing
What the *&%$#@! does mesothelioma have to do with this charging station????
