"cause a clone of the PC game's multiplayer section just ain't gonna cut it on Xbox Live."
No, because the 360 has the best multiplayer games? hmm.

Sure the PC FEAR didn't have a good multiplayer, neither did Doom 3. These games are built around single player. I suppose that's too much to ask these days though.

Still though, the torrent ports continues. Doom, Farcry and Half Life were hat-tricks. Is there one for 4?

Im getting kind of tired hearing how the ps3 and rev will have so many more exclusive titles when you havent even heard a list of launch titles for either console. I bet you that there will be ps3 games that are ported from the pc or to the pc just as there are for the 360.

I can name off several exclusive games for the 360 that you and everyone that says that seems to forget about. Lets see, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Chrome Hounds, just to name a few. If you just dont like the 360 for another reason, thats fine, but dont blame it not having exclusive titles.

#3,

Surely if youve played anything online via the pc, youd know that there are just as many, if not more, 12 year olds screaming abuses in multiplayer. From Counter Strike to FEAR, its pretty prevalent.

Also could you list the 20 exclusives for the PS3 and Revo since no games have been announced for the Revo (well one... sorta) and you have no clue if the PS3 games are exclusives or not. I mean look at Fight Night we saw it at e3 and were amazed at it but then it came to everything and looked fantastic on the x360.

Why so much animosity towards the 360? I am tired of the jealous "gamers" who think everyone enjoys hearing them complain.

Competition in any business is good for the consumer. Think about it, if nobody challenged Nintendo there wouldn't be the Playstation, and if Microsoft didn't enter the console business Sony wouldn't feel the need to release such a powerful system.

As far as F.E.A.R. coming to 360 - I think it's awesome because I haven't played the PC version, enjoyed Condemned, and hate using WASD/mouse control when it comes to gaming.

You know, #13, I couldn't agree more about computer game controls. Especially for FPS's. Some of my best friends were heavy into PC gaming and always tell me they would "pwn me in Halo or Halo 2 if they had a keyboard and mouse". I then continue to want to kill them for being so stupid. That is why I can't wait for Huxley to come out so I have the ability to rape-tastically own PC gamers in their native genre. Weird. This was a game that, even with a keyboard and 6 button mouse, had too many buttons. They'll need to make some changes for the xbox.

They should have cut some things out of the PC version, too.
1) throw grenade
2) bullet time
3) melee
4) zoom
5) lean left
6) lean right
7) flashlight
8) use
9) reload
10) medikit
11) holster weapon

Some of the above should have been cut out. You don't have quick access to that many buttons!

Okay, this is ridiculous, Xbox 360 is getting too many PC ports. Yes FEAR will suffer because of dual analog controls. Use a dual analog stick for a PC FPS and play online against mouse and keyboard vets and you will get destroyed.

#13 and #15, there is a reason why WASD and a mouse is the prefered why to play FPS. I was in denial too back when Goldeneye was the rage. I had friends that were having Quake 2 LAN parties and wouldn't touch a N64 controller. I didn't get it until I started playing Unreal Tournament a few months later. You simply can not strafe, aim/ look up, strafe and aim with consistent accuracy. It's not a matter of opinion it's a matter of fact.

Nintendo is the only console company that has addressed this. I've seen some down right beautiful headshot kills in Metroid Prime Hunters that you will not get in a dual analog set up. I've hit jump pads, flying through the air and was still able to get that Imperialist head shot for the win. I don't care how good FEAR looks and runs on the 360. If I can't aim then what's the point?

If the 360 is going to get so many PC FPS then they need a better control scheme. Xbox360 controller may be a overall good design but it still sucks ass for FPS

Controls shouldn't be a problem.

Grenade - L Trigger (use Y to cycle through multiple grenades, if there are)
Bullet time - L bumper
Fire - R trigger
Zoom - R bumper
Melle - B
Lean - L3 then left/right
Flashlight - D pad down
Use - A
Reload - X
Medkit - D pad left
Holster - D pad right

The 360 controller has 4 face buttons, 4 shoulder buttons 2 buttons tied to the analog sticks, and an 8 way d pad that can be used to map less important functions to like possibly different grenades, medkits, flashlights, etc. As long as the developers make the controls intuitive, it shouldn't be a problem.

MosquitoControl, it was more than usual, but I used all of those apart from holster weapon (but the point is, on a PC you might as well throw it in and map it to the H button, why not? At the beginning I was punching guards all over the place...unsuccessfully).

People may enjoy a control pad for comfort, though for accuracy and such it can't be bested. The lean command alone becomes almost worthless in multiplayer once on a console. Who has time to let go of the direction buttons in order to lean?

There's just a bottleneck in how good you can become using a controller, it's undeniable, even on the highest sensitivity there's always a limit to your accuracy that isn't there on a mouse.

But that's just a multiplayer issue, and this game's by far got the better single player. Should be good for those who couldn't afford the rig for the PC version. If they port it well...

yeah cos everyone has enough money for bluetooth keyboards and mice.

oh, and 360 does support keyboards. not sure about mice. its really down to the developers. if 50% of gamers wanted keyboards, the devs would do it. but you play on a console because you either: dont have a pc good enough for gaming, or cos you prefer the controls.

1. PC setup is at least $1500

2. Playing sports games on PC require an additional controller

3. Playing racing games on PC requires a wheel.

4. Take that mouse and shuv it cause PC gaming sucks.

Xbox 360 has it all for an affordable price, and PS3 at $500+ plus the additional Bluetooth and HDD is not gonna go well for consumers.

I play both PC and consoles. Right now I prefer consoles, and I swear the only reason PC fanboys trash the controller is because you have to put effort into learning it after gaming on the PC for years. It seems that PC gamers just don't want to get used to another way to control a game. Sure it might not be as great as a k/m, but it still does a great job. Put some effort into it and stop whinning about it....

#33, you're so right. My two close friends refuse to learn the controls for console shooters and then blame the fact that they're "PC gamers" for why they suck and die all the time. I tell them to try and learn how to use the controller and they bash it because of the dual joystick setup being "wierd to control where you look at the same time that you walk". In my mind it's the same setup as the computer keyboard...top left is walk/strafe and bottom left is look. Makes sense to me.

It's the same, but it just has bottlenecks in terms of accuracy. Even on maximum sensitivity, not even the 360 controller has the deadzones to handle it.

Reasons for preferring consoles? Price/big TV/livingroom use, not for the controller. Any PC gamer can just plug virtually any console peripheral in and play away, the 360 wired controller plugs straight in.

The other things become less of an issue when you realise you can build a 360 matching PC for not very much more, and that PCs are becoming more integrated into the home theatre.

Mine's already plugged into my HDTV, is about 360 level graphics, cost about £100 more and also does hella things the 360 doesn't (y'know, being a PC).

The dual-stick is the most capable console controller to date, and almost perfectly replaces the keyboard/mouse, but having the advantage of compact size and multiplayer options and disadvantage of lower accuracy.

Prefer one if you like, but realise there's always more potential with the k/m combo. And slating off PC gaming because your set-up isn't up to scratch is ignorant. Especially to go around saying shit like "PC gaming sucks". I understand what you mean about close-minded PC gamers refusing the controller, probably like I am when people beat me at fighters using a controller, and I'm all like "I'd so kick your ass with an arcade stick! =D".

Most I know just use whatever they choose for whichever console (there's always options for both on both), but are smart enough to know the advantages of each and capable enough to not whine when not using their preferred control.

I'm guessing a lot of the people here haven't done any gaming with an optical or laser mouse. A fps match between console players and pc players wouldn't even be close. As for the price of a pc setup, if you want the high end you have to pay for it. It's not that expensive if you build it yourself and the 360 is only cheaper if you have already bought an entertainment system.

As far as Pc ports to 360, think about this for a second. How can Microsoft claim that 360 is the console to have if it's flooded with PC ports? Original content is what wins the war. Original content and exclusives. PS2 destroyed the competition because of this. So all this talk about "PC ports are ok for the 360" is only good because the PS3 and the Rev aren't out yet. With no other next gen to compare its library to, sure PC ports aren't going to look that bad. But compare the original Xbox library to the PS2 library and it's a joke. Xbox had far too many PC ports and not enough A+ exclusives.

People have such short memories...

how can a system get "too many PC ports" the more the better I say. All it's doing is expanding the library of the console with games that will not be availabe on the PS3 and Revo. The 360 has plenty of exclusives to back itself up.

-Capcom is bringing Dead Rising and Lost Planet to the console
-Bioware is bringing Mass Effect
-Too Human
-Gears of War
-Chromehounds
-Timeshift
-Rockstar Table Tennis
-[eM] -eNCHANT aRM-
-Over G Fighters
-Moto GP 06
-Saint's Row
-Frame City Killer

There are several more as well, but these are all EXCLUSIVE 360 titles that are expected to ship at various dates between now and next november when Revo/PS3 launch. This list doesn't even include the obvious that is Halo 3, or anything from Team Ninja, or the Project Sylph that Square is working on.

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but the myth of the XBOX having no exclusives is quickly going by the way-side. The original XBOX had more than enough exclusives to please me (ninja gaiden, enough said) and the 360 appears to only be building on that, in a tremendous way. The biggest thing that I like about this exclusive list is that the majority of these titles are not sequels. This shows that companies are not afraid to bring something new and fresh to the 360.

With the also impressive fact that RE5 is coming to the 360 as well, you can't deny that this second time around for MS is looking alot more promising than the last. But, it's microsoft, and since everyone is always on this "I hate MS because they are an evil corporate entity" trip there will always be those who down on MS for no reason at all. Even though the companies that they so loyally support for some reason would just as quickly snatch up there dollars as MS would. Whatever.

PC ports? Bring 'em on, so long as they're done well.

One of Microsoft's mistakes on the first Xbox was being too self-conscious about adapting PC technology and making too much of an effort to differentiate the console from PCs in general. While they needed all the console style titles they could get they purned what could have been a great advantage. Plenty of people who prefer PC style game would be very interested in a machine that provided a lot of those games with none of the hassle. Stick in the disc and it just works. One gamer's PC port is another's console exclusive.

The Xbox 360 takes away some of the inherent compatibility but still has a big advantage in tools and API support well known to PC devs. Plus, HDTV eliminates the glaring resolution difference between a TV and a PC's monitor. Offer a decent wireless mouse and keyboard set for under $70, and they could have a major plus for the platform. The Xbox name is well established. They need no longer worry about people thinking it's a PC. Don't avoid it, embrace it.

Meanwhile, the PC game market will take care of itself. It will still be the place new developers learn their chops and can put a product out in the shareware field without royalty issues.

Although I believe Microsoft should pursue many more PC ports, I'm thankful for consoles. I gave up on computer gaming when the PC became dominant. Previously, my focus had been on Atari 8-bit computers, then the Amiga. If Commodore hadn't taken so long to define a standard for multi-button controllers on the Amiga I might have put off getting into consoles far longer. But the limitations of the one-button joystick just became too much of a hindrance to gameplay. There were plenty of mouse controlled Amiga games but when it came to the FPS era I just couldn't get comfortable with mouse and keyboard for fast action games. Worked for slow stuff like RPGs (Dungeon Master) but not shooters. Not for me.

But that is what it takes to satisfy a big chunk of the potential market, so it has to be supported. I don't care much for multi-player, so I'm not worried about being slaughtered by keyboard jockeys. Let people have what they want within reason and reap the rewards.

If I wanna play games with a mouse/keyboard I'll go buy a $200 greaphics card...not a $500/$600 console..

I buy consoles to play with a controller..

With that said Revolution will be mine on launch, while I am holding off on a PS3..I'll buy it..but not at first..

360 is good for me now...

You wanna talk about Microsoft lacking exclusive titles...The gap between when Sony exclusives are released on other consoles is closing...

Can we say next-gen GTA released on 360 same day as PS3? Uh ohh...
