I voted for Jeremy's. Not because it was the most pathetic, but because it looked like the most genuine. I don't believe for a second that some of those pictures are people's real set-ups. Take, for example, the kid that lives in New Zealand. Not only is his information falese -- we do have HDTVs here -- but he can easily pick up a 360-ready 14" CRT for less than the price of a game. I know because I'm using one myself.

If I wanted to, I could have taken a 3" black and white TV and stuck it on the roof of my house with my 360 and say, "Look at me! My parents won't even let this devil console in the house, so I have to play on the roof. It's okay though; the 360 keeps me really warm." But I didn't, because that's not actually how I use my 360 99.9999% of the time (IE: When I'm not trying to win something).

So again, I voted for Jeremy's because it actually looks like that's how that poor bugger has it set up all the time.

Some of these are a bit hard to believe. Donutta has a point that some of these aren't the real setups that these people have.

None of these setups look realistic because you can see the power brick in plain site (everyone hides it, or at least has it in the back of the system).

The one that I posted (not shown) is what I play on at night (with stereo headphones). Although I don't play on that setup 24/7, I always need to go hook it up to a bigger TV. I doubt a lot of these are peoples real setups...especially the video one...you can tell aren't real.

This isn't my normal setup, as my normal tv which isn't much better than this's horizontal hold is broken, the screen just rolls and rolls, not able to play anything at all. I just booted the tomb raider to show that it was infact the 360, I'm mainly playing on this b/c it was so cheap and I'm broke, arcade games work decently well, and keeping up with friends, but until i get atleast some color It's pretty hard to play much of anything.

I hope you'r joking, that is mine and I can assure that it is real. I play like that because I don't have enough money for a wireless network adapter. The cords aren't long enough so that is why it is what it is.

That's the voting idea! If you call BS, vote for someone else. I think Spencer's is totally legit. And Mike's. And Cody's. And Mike S's. And I think the majority of these are totally legit.

Though I agree Jack's is pretty unconvincing... a tricycle was the best platform he could find for the television?

too bad the head phones are total garbage. i picked up a set from bestbuy the other day. the audio for the game is above average, but the voice volume when other players are talking is horrible. and yes i adjusted everything possible and e-mail turtle beach tech support and i still could barely hear other people talking. (just thought of this, i use dolby digital receiver, which i had to splice sound from optical cable going to amp to rca jacks to make head phones work....maybe thats why the volume sucked)

Not that it matters, but for all of the hullabaloo about the legitimacy of some of these setups, the rules never said that it had to always be used, just that it was played on. Of course it is up for the vote, so I suppose fakes will fall by the wayside.

Secondly, everyone here except for Thomas, Carter and possibly Sjohn all have the “silver stripe” 360 and therefore don’t need a headset nearly as much. We, as voters, should keep that in mind as we here everyone’s sob stories; and more importantly root out the fakes.

Lastly, did anyone else notice how Jack was the only one to have his name in quotes in the actual poll? Is that some sort of hint from the 360fanboys?

Is there anything else to this contest? Of course I want the headset, who wouldn't? Do you really think any of these other entries would have been sent in if the contest had not occured? I think not, we are ALL in it for the headset and the title of "Most Pathetic Setup."

A longer ethernet wouldn't do the job. I like to be somewhat tidy (as seen in video) and having a cable running infront of doorways and through my house is not a beautiful solution.

Yes my TV is nice, its true not everything about my setup is bad...

I'm sorry if I am seeming defensive, but I would rather address concerns/comments/questions than leave them be and let you speculate.

Cody, I also don't have wireless, I have a long cable that runs up two floors and across many doorways, but it is not in the way of anyone because I was creative. I used push pins to giude it around the frames of doors, it is completely out of the way and it doesn't look that bad either. Long ethernet cables are very cheap, as are pushpins. Your setup isn't sad, it's just plain lazy.

Yeah, the rules for the contest weren't very specific, that's why we're leaving it up to the polls. If more readers want to vote for the most unique (TV on a tricycle) or the most crappy (5" Watchman), we'll leave it up to them.

So exactly how long is this contest? A week like the entry time? It was never really said how long the voting will last. I do have the premium xbox aka silver stripe, I have a normal headset, but it would be nice to hear my 360 in loud stereo instead of the tiny speaker(s) that is in my watchman. It's pretty hard to tell if it's stereo or mono when the speakers are that far apart, anyways I should have a better tv soon, tax return and all. I can atleast buy a cheapo monitor from the thriftstore, I was just broke so I bought this tv to keep up with my xblive friends for the mean time. $3 isn't that bad of a deal for this tv, it also helped a lot when those storms came by a week ago as I was able to listen to the radio or watch tv from the shelter.

Most if not all of these are fake! C’mon! You have a 360, 2 or more games and you’re playing your system on a 5" TV. BE REALISTIC! Just say, "I faked this set-up and when through all this trouble to win the headphones", I can respect that because at least you're being honest! With the price of ONE game you can get a decent 13" color TV with all the A/V hookups at Wal-Mart!!! If Joystiq insist on having this contest, how about some stipulations: Those with a premium system are not qualified. Those with wireless adapters are not qualified. Those with other major electronics (i.e. computers) in the photo are not qualified. Those who are online with Xbox Live are not qualified (it takes routers, modems, broadband internet access, etc. to get online therefore you have to have money). Those with more than one game are not qualified. Those with any game that has just beam released in the past couple of weeks are not qualified. Jack is not qualified (c'mon, who's going to believe that story; and if it is true winning a headset is the least of his worries). Just call this contest what it really is..."Who Would Tell the Biggest Lie To Win Some Free Stuff Contest".

I was going to enter, but I don't have a 360. My picture was going to be a white box with XBox 360 wrote on it placed over my girlfriend's Dreamcast that I'm borrowing, but I couldn't find a white box. Woulda been funny though.

Anyway, I voted for Spencer, because at one time that's how all my game systems were hooked up after I stopped daisy chaining the RF connectors cause they started to get really hot when I would play games for more than an hour.

Now I have a newer TV than my old Magnavox with actual dials, and I use a cheap AV selector with it.

Well wirless networks arn`t cheap unlike ethernet cables. I can buy 50 ft ethernet cables for £5

and joining two toghether only takes a block conector.

& how comes all you got preimuim edition 360`s
how would that be pathetic? I could only get a core 360 and couldn`t get a HDD for love nor money, or a poxy hd cable, Took 2 days 2 get a F*£king memory card so i could play online.

I should win cos my 360 combined with M$ customer support was so pathetic I smashed it to bits and threw it in the bin.

If that headset works on xbox 1 I can still use it.

You mean that the ethernet cable would be uglier than having a 360 slap bang in the middle of your floor ( bet that`s sucking in loads of nice fluff from your carpet for a start, bet thats nice and neat inside your 360, lol )

While those are pretty bad, mine's kinda cool even though it sucks. I'm in college and my comp means pretty much everything for me, so I have my 360 up on a shelf with the vid hooked into an ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0. I use Dscaler 4 for the vid so there's no noticable lag. The audio goes straight into the line in with an RCA to stereo miniplug. There's no room on or behind my desk so my power brick is near my power strip in plain sight. While I could get the VGA plug to go straight to the monitor and get high def, I'm waiting on getting an hdtv after this summer.
