1up has previewed the upcoming
Family Guy video game, and believe it or not, the
manatees have written a somewhat coherent story (for Family Guy, at any rate). The story is actually three
tales that will weave into one another: Brian wrongly accused of "knocking up" Seabreeze, Stewie facing off
against his nemesis Bertram, and Peter ... well ... being hungry. Okay, so the plot is nothing stellar, but Family
Guy's humor is drawn more from the random tangents, which we hope equate to a plentiful number of mini games. The
developers promise cameos from over 200 characters of the show, which should include most everyone (even the big chicken
... we hope).Alongside the preview came a few screen shots, which fortunately show the game staying true to the show's art style. Cel-shading really captures the cartoon well, unlike some previous attempts at transferring a 2D animation into a 3D world (we are looking at you, South Park 64). If previous TV-to-game adaptations show anything, it is that we should expect a mediocre game befitting of a true fan. The Family Guy game should come out later this year on PlayStation 2.
