Just as we reported,
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PS2 has been delayed. Apparently the game will debut on June
6th at a RRP of US$19.99/€29.99/£19.99. The game was originally scheduled to be released on April 24th at
$29.99.On the surface the reduced price looks like an attempt to appease impatient gamers. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter thinks that it goes deeper than that: "we believe that the lower than expected price point for GTA LCS implies that the game is a straight port from the PSP, with few (if any) enhancements to graphics or game play" and that "although we believe that the game will sell a greater number of units at a higher [sic] (we think he meant lower) price point, we think that overall sales may suffer if the game is not sufficiently different from the PSP version."
As it is, Wedbush Morgan thinks that Take Two could sell "3 million units at $16 (for total revenues of $48 million) instead of 1.9 million at $28 in our model (total revenues of $53 million)", which mean the delay might cost Take Two $5 million. Ouch.
Of course, there's still the possibility that Morgan is underestimating the game's sale figures: they predicted that T2 would sell 900,000 copies of Elder Scrolls in the time immediately after its release, when in fact Take Two recently announced that they've sold 1.7 million units.

That doesn't calculate... bloody Rockstar..
a UK made game and they rip us off.
(well, i say 'Us' I won't be buying a half baked load of rubbish designed for a handheld! Great on the PSP but better do something to bring it inline with GTA:SA or they're taking a step backwards)

Ok, you'll save 10 bucks with the games. I'll save thousands if I have a heart attack. I can have as many as I want, in fact. Or the "obsessive gamer thumbs disease"... god bless the socialistic European Union medic plan!!

I'm starting to get a little sick of Sony charging a premium price for PSP games and movies.
UMD movies cost sometimes twice what the same title on DVD cost and PSP games are sometimes merely more expensive ports of PS2 titles. No wonder DS sales have been kicking the PSP in the pants.
The Nintendo DS is starting to look more and more appealing every day.
Sony better start dropping the price on this stuff. Once the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Revolution are all released and gaining market share, people are not going to want to spend $40-$50 on "last-gen" titles just because they are portable.

If I actually wanted the game (which I don't) I'd just re-import back into this country(UK) through lik-sang and ridiculously, after travelling thousands of miles, my game will have magically shedded several pounds(sterling). Fuck Gordon Brown!

And jay, the game is sub-PS2 graphics, so it'd see virtually no increase in performance on the Xbox (apart from the load screen at the beginning maybe), and you'd be lumped with the Xbox's controller. Better for some maybe, but the PS2 has a far larger base and potential for money.
And Conrad, maybe he did mean he thought it would sell more at a higher price point because people would think it's more than just a port. Stupid thing to say, but maybe that's what he meant.

If you have to wait months for a diagnostic procedure that I could get within hours, and you then die of something that could have been treated if only it hadn't gone months without detection, how much are you saving? Such accounts are becoming drearily common from locales where everybody supposedly has free and perfect health care coverage.
I have Canadian friends who I see in person only when their doctor has a concern and doesn't want to wait until the autopsy for his suspicion to be confirmed. They prefer to book a medical vacation down here rather than wait to find out vital information that could save their life but only if known in time to matter.

They get taxed on income, too. Who do you think is paying for all the freeloaders? They just get lots of bonus taxes in between a product leaving the factory and reaching their hands. There is a long list of additional reasons for things costing more in Europe. Nearly all of them self-imposed.

Geez, can't believe that we're down to a "my country's health policies are better than yours".

I can't imagine it being a straight port, as everything seems to have been dumbed down a tad for the PSP version, so upscaling that would kinda be pretty craptastic.
Well, no kinda, it just would be craptastic.
I almost bought a PSP just so I could play this, as I've always enjoyed the stories in the GTA series. Thank you Sony for saving me from shelling out a stupid amount of my hard earned money.

Lee points out that there are still hospitals and insurance policies if you can afford them in Canada - it's just that if you can't, the country looks out for you - even if it's as late as your 'Canadian friends' claim. No links to facts = an opinion.
As for the game? Well, I think I'll pass, although that is a good price point.

Damn I hate living here, maybe we could all form a new country (the United Republic of Joystiq or something) and all games are tax free! who's with me?
I'm king though.

In the interest of international friendship, I hereby decree that everyone whining about taxes is right in saying that everyone else's country sucks. Especially that country with all the, um, vowels. Aeiouistan.
Because, you know, none of the countries mentioned allow their citizens freedom of opinion, freedom to elect their representatives, nor, apparently, the freedom of emigration if your countrymen exceed your retardation tolerance. Unfortunately, judging by some of the behavior on this board, every country out there just might be too retarded for my tastes. I wonder what the weather in Aeiouistan is like this time of year.
Secretary! File a motion for anarchy!
