The thing that bugs me about these guys is the way they draw themselves. I guess it's ok to kind of draw yourself in an ideal fashion, but they seriously look NOTHING like the characters that represent them. For one thing, last time I saw a picture, they were fat. Not 6'0" 230 pounds fat, like me(and I'll admit it, I'm fat), but REALLY fat.

Now maybe they've lost weight sense then, but it still bugs me to see these nice looking well kempt skinny avatars drawn three times a week that look nothing like themselves.

Also, those stupid cardboard samurai strips, and the period of time when they thought the word "wang" was a punchline. Otherwise, I pretty much like their stuff.

At the start of the commic, they wern't drawing themselves, concenously. (i know i just butchered that word) They said that as they went along, they noticed that the personalitys of the two they were drawing started to mirror their own.

Tycho is fat, Gabe is not.

They also both have no hair.

Just for the record.

I never thought they looked like their comic representations, just like Seigel and Schuster never looked like Superman.

#4: LIKE, OMGZORS, R U FER RELZ?

Dude, they confirmed it at CES back in January.

Georgie, they also said the would make a BluRay player for the x360... if BluRay comes out as the dominant format. (personally I would like to see that, mmm crowpie ;)

As for Joystiq, I found this... a little dated, but still interesting.

Actually, Tycho is fat (and also bald), but Gabe is a really gangly skinny guy (with a real short crew cut).

Deuce, you must not be looking at the right pictures ... "Gabe" is so very skinny ... and "Tycho" is not REALLY fat ... but he does venture into the overweight area.

Comment of the week Moosey!

Georgie: the news is up at xbox360fanboy.com, although, really, it's not news, and this isn't the venue for it anyhow. Use the tips form @ http://www.joystiq.com/tips/ . And jaemz, wow, that is old. That'll take you back.

And the discussion about their drawn appearance; how many of you play hot elf ladies in WoW and are, in fact, *not* hot elf ladies?

Haha, nice one C.Grant :)

I think given that their names aren't Gabe and Tycho in real life it's ok that they're idealized because the characters aren't really "them" even if they're putting words into the characters mouths.

While they're not always funny, Penny Arcade has definitely become a comic worth taking the two minutes it takes to read it.

"Microsoft confirms HD DVD drive for Xbox 360? http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news.php?newsId=3109"

...and its ONLY for playing movies and not games. (oh and this isn't really new news since we already this was coming.)

After watching the video I admit I was a little surprised by the way they looked, I also assumed that the cartoon representation was more accurate, but... small potatoes. More to the point though, I dig Penny-Arcade and I'm happy for the success these guys are having. It does'nt take long to figure out these guys are gamers like us. The Shadow Of Colossus strip last fall was hilarious.
Off-topic: Boy George...wtf..how much does MS pay you to shill? Don't get me wrong, I have a 360 and I recently bought a Hi-def Samsung to play it on, but, who the fuck cares, 360fanboy would love your post, it doesn't really fit in a Penny Arcade comment section now does it?

Georgie boy-
Are you out of your mind? Or 14? Or both?!?!

I'm a PA fan. I actually like the fact the punch line has little correlation to the videogame the initial panel or two is based on. Makes it a little more universal, you don't have to be "in the know" to "get" the joke.

According to Mike and Jerry, Tycho and Gabe were never supposed to be representations of themselves. They originally just drew two characters and over time they realized that they were inadvertently using the characters to voice their own opinions.

I still love the comic they did a few years back from E3 when the Doom 3 was unveiled.

"Did you see Doom 3?"

"Yea! I can't wait until they make a game with the engine."

LOL...I post that on forums when iD fanboys boast about how "great" Doom 3 is.
