Ridge Racer 7 for PS3 announced

The reason Ridge Racer has bombed so badly is because with each version the only noticable change is the poly count.

Might as well just stamp "Now with more polygons!" on each box and send that crap out the door.

This is old news, Joystiq is getting slow.

I'm a ridge racer fanboy, can't wait. But please, Namco make it so I can turn off that annoying announcer during gameplay. Kthx.

Who Cares? How about some Tekken Next or better Yet Soul Calibur Ridge Racer has been lame since PS1

SWEET! You can never go wrong with a good arcadey racing game and Ridge Racer is about as arcadey as you can get.

It's interesting that you say that, The1, because the linked article and just about every other game portal only reported it today. Where'd you get your crystal ball?

Has Joystiq just been overrun with haters lately or what? Do you guys keep yourselves up at night thinking about all the stuff you're so totally over?

I, for one, am pretty excited about this. I haven't bought RR6 simply because I don't have (and probably won't have) an Xbox 360. Ditto for the PSP version. But I've got every other RR going back to the first on the PS1 and I love them all. You know, some of us actually *like* simple, fun, arcade-style gameplay. The rest of you can go crash some more MMORPG funerals for all I care.

btw, the blurb here talks about Reiko Nagase, but that is a pic of Ai Fukumi. Just saying, is all.

Man guys this is sooo old i mean i've known this for at least 2 and a half hours already, i should start my own blog and post stuff b/c i'm on top of EVERYTHING EVER, i don't care that other people who have lives frequent this site once or twice a week to catch up on gaming news because gaming news is obviously my entire life.

I've loved Ridge Racer ever since I played it back in 1993. Me and a few friends travelled all the way out to Scarborough (From Hull in England) to play it in the big arcades there. It was astounding back then when the nearest thing was the non textured polys of Virtua Racing. I've been a big fan ever since.

My favourites are Ridge Racer Revolution (PS1), Rave Racer (Arcade), R4 (PS1) and Ridge Racers (PSP) But now I think its really wearing thin... I think Ridge Racers should have been the last one, it would have ended a fantastic run with a fantastic last game (kind of a tribute to all the past games). I hope RR7 is alot more than the (Ported from PSP with enhanced GFX feeling) RR6 on the 360. And PLEASE... do NOT make a R. Racing Evolution stylee mess of it eh Namco Bandai? Ta.

I loved the PSP version and will be interested to pick this one up if I get a PS3. Namco - PLEASE use Reiko Nagase's voice (or jeez, any good sounding girl) in the game and not some lame ass guy! Like #3 said, it got old REAL quick.

when you get to number seven, I think it´s time to start considering to create a new franchise or stop using numbers, I would hate to see Resident evil 16, Elder scrolls 14 or Mortal Kombat 30 or Street fighter 64.

What does the powerful PS3 CELL CHIP do for an old game like Ridge Racer? Are people going to spend lots of money on a PS3 to play RR? I'm still waiting to see some new next gen game that will "blow everybody away" like they promised.
