Let the E3 bloopers begin! Press list exposed.
As part of the E3 registration process for press, would-be attendees are given the choice of receiving
announcements about the show from vendors and other exhibitors. All press registrants who answer "yes" to
this question are added to a massive list that was -- until today -- a secret.
What happened? It seems that one Morten Iverson "ZEO & Creative Manager" for Copenhagen-based ZeitGuyz Game Developers, emailed all of us "journalists" with an offer to see a new game concept developed by his company. He forgot to use the "BCC" field, though, and in the process exposed the entire list to its recipients. Oops.
Concept
shmoncept! We were more interested in the list of folks who had registered as press. As you may be as well. Here's that
list, stripped down to just the domain name of the outlets who will be covering E3. As the diversity here indicates, E3
is going to be a regular media circus! Remember, this is only a partial list, as some portion of registrants have opted
out of being on it.

Nice, Maxim will be there. I look forward to reading their writeup.
And as far as that messup, that's a pretty easy mistake, but man what a result!

Why is playboy.com on the list? Last time I checked E3 wasn't a porn convention; then again there are the booth babes.....
Mark D. @ Apr 24th 2006 11:12PM
Hah, DOWJONES.COM and dowjones.com
They're impooooortant.
Alex P @ Apr 24th 2006 11:21PM
I got this press release via email and thought it was hilarious. I think it would have been bad had you posted everyone's full address, but I think that's fine what you did here.
My site isn't on the list, but I did sign up with my personal email addy.
skyrous @ Apr 24th 2006 11:22PM

I see Mexico, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Portugal, New Zeland, Chile, Romania, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Sweden, Russia, Canada, Australia, Spain, the Czech Republic are representin' too (among others).
Also of interest are the Marine Corps.
pyrosity @ Apr 24th 2006 11:58PM
Dustin (post 11), that's really unnecessary.
For some reason, I was thinking that Anandtech would be invited to E3...either they went last year or had someone on the inside last year...either way, Anand knows a hell of a lot more about the PS3 than Sony executives want him to know.
(anandtech.com is one of the top PC hardware review/news sites on the Internet.)
Sloopydrew @ Apr 25th 2006 5:06AM
Where's Gizmondo? How will I navigate around the E3 floor without Gizmondo on hand? Nooooooooo!
Denis Vitchevsky @ Apr 25th 2006 5:40AM
#11: Israel is there as well, hiding behind personal email addresses.
Reeve @ Apr 25th 2006 8:51AM
10. Nope, but their E3 Photo Albums are quite entertaining (I check 'em out every year): http://www.crunkgames.com/?cat=23

There is only one word to describe this list:
Dwaaaaaaaammmmmmmnnnnnnn!
Inappropriate? Yes. But, then again, so was this awesome list.
Don Komarechka @ Apr 25th 2006 12:18PM
Its funny that this list has been published, however it is incomplete. Granted sifting through that huge list of contacts that came into my inbox is no easy task, there were quite a few names left out.
The only reason I double-checked is because my website didn't make the edited version ;)
add electricpickleonline.com to the list :)
There are a lot of names in that list use yahoo mail or hotmail, so some of the names will still be wrapped in mystery
Austin @ Apr 25th 2006 2:52PM
Perhaps I'm giving them too much credit, but has no one thought that this may be a marketing ploy by the game developer. Certainly that wasn't an email skipped over by most of the press. Even bad PR is good PR when your trying to get noticed. If you dont believe that ask paris hilton.
Tucker @ Apr 25th 2006 3:59PM
So how many of you are being flooded with the morons who decided to hit "reply-all"?
Ken @ Apr 25th 2006 4:10PM
this has happened many times. inexperienced PR interns and even seasoned veterans make mistakes. always enjoyable when you are in on it, makes for some nice new contacts sometimes. hah! ;)
