Sorry for the mess-up's I had in the last blogging this is what i really meant to say:

It is sad to find out that Joystiq is a fanboy itself...... We all know for a fact that more third party title will be created as soon as the consel comes out. And I'm not saying that the consel will be the biggest sucess. Oh and did they already forget that DBZ is coming to the revolution already. They only posted it in the revolution fanboy.

Joystiq I'm dissapointed i thought that you were an all around web blogger. Instead I find you going down two roads in which are the ones who is and will soon be released.....Xbox 360 & PS3...... pity on you when people find the truth and go to IGN and every other web blogger.

BEWARE...........THE TRUTH WILL BE REVEALED!!!!!!!

i have no idea what you people are bitching about..

this is list looks awesome, and it's only just the beginning of what to expect at launch.

looking forward to:

-Red Steel
-Sadness
-Sunder
-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

these games look badASS.

i wish people would stop placing their expectations at impossible to reach levels.. half of you were probably expecting Halo Revolution or something.

One of these days I'm going to learn to stop reading the comments here. One smart or funny comment is drowned out by ten bad ones...

Seriously, all of these games sound...different. I can't say good or bad (except for Bob Ross. Bob Ross RULES and I'm not joking and I'm not a pothead) but they're at the very least intriguing.

A horror game in black and white that doesn't rely on blood?

An FPS where you really control a gun AND a sword? (and on a Nintendo system?)

And don't forget that there are still the token Mario/Zelda/Metroid games that everybody knows will be on the system. You almost don't need the second party titles if you remember Nintendo's track record for fun first party titles.

Tell me: if this list isn't good enough for you then what needs to be on there?

"This console is in serious trouble, we're almost halfway through the year and look at how few screenshots we have.
The hardware is basically an xbox 1.5, so it is really going to have to rely on its controlling device. Don't get your hopes up over this one.

Well at least the rev is the best looking of the three."

Here we go again...another person talking like they know exactly what is going on and sees everything in a negative manner. Just b/c Sony has released "some" screenshots of PS3 stuff doesn't mean Nintendo has. They have their own strategy and are holding off until E3. They've mostly held off showing things until big industry events (E3, TGS, GDC, etc.)

*Warning* Rant of sorts.

Nintendo will have an outstanding list of games for the Revolution and wait till you see the surprises about the system.

Thanks for the comments about the Bob Ross game and mentioning my stint at EA. All critics welcome :)

We aren't competing with a Revolution Mario Paint or NDS Mario Paint. Two different angles, totally different markets. If either Mario Paint or the Bob Ross painting games bring in new gamers to the industry as a whole, what does it matter which title sells more on the same format?

Mario Paint will cater to a younger and Nintendo fan audience. Not something an older new gamer may pick up and try, because maybe they feel Mario is too "kiddy" for them and maybe they won't approach it. Mario Paint will sell millions, but doesn't have the potential to bring in new gamers the way we want to with the Bob Ross games.

A Bob Ross game has truly mass-market appeal. Millions of people all around the world (even in markets where games are seldom played) know Bob Ross, love his voice, funny hair and painting style. Those same millions of people can relate to Bob Ross. Can you relate to Mario? (no sarcasm replies, wait... wrong industry ;)

It might fail, it might sell incredibly well. As long as it brings in at least one new gamer to the industry for life, I'm happy with that.

For those of you that only play FPS, MMOGs, and "mainstream" games, well we're glad you like to play, it's what keeps the industry thriving and upgrading. But we are a small industry (in terms of people that COULD be playing our games)and we have to open up and experiment in new ways to bring in those who don't play games because alot of people don't want to memorize 17 button combos, or stare at a screen of 70 icons for their character, or have to handle a controller with 12+ buttons all over it.

They just want to get in and play, & forget the world for a few and have fun.

If any of you really want to follow along with our developments on the Bob Ross games, check out and join our Bob Ross Game Yahoo Group before we seal off accepting new members to contribute to the game.

As many testers reading this can agree to, there are often better and more talented people in QA then in production/development and even management.

As soon as AGFRAG starts beefing up, I will gladly look at resumes from talented testers from other game companies looking to improve their career and really be able to create without the Borg mentality drumming in their heads every day.

Wild Creativity is our slogan, and we refuse to be fully tamed. It's not where you're from, but where you're going.

Did I put anyone to sleep yet?

Nintendo is keeping pretty much every thing secret. You guys should get the latest game informer with the red steel info. The pictures look 100 times better then anything on the web. The guy everyone said looked like spock doesn't like spock at all he looks like a Japanese man who is really angry at you. Not understandable since he is trying to kill you. The pictures do have an odd quality to them since there is a yellow tint added to everything including pictures of the dev team with the remote. But if these are ingame shots as stated by a Ubisoft rep it looks a lot better then most current 360 games outside of cutscences.

Okay people some of you are pretty stupid. Look here is a list of confirmed games coming at launch and games confirmed coming after launch.Coming out 2 to 4 months after launch.
Confirmed Launch Titles by Nintendo and Third Parties
Super Smash Bros. Melee Rev.
Avatar:The Last Airbender(Its a really good show has a great story and would make a great game)
Spongebob SquarePants
Red Steel
DragonBall Z tenkaichi 2
Donkey Kong
Cars
Metriod Prime 3
Tony Hawk Down Hill Jam
Skatto Golf Pangya Rev.
Games coming out after launch
Danny Phantom
Spider Man 3
2 Untititled Activision games (not counting SpiderMan3)
FF:Crystal Chronicals
Those are all I know about people. Now the list I just posted is really good for launch. I will by all these games listed below
Super Smash Bros. Rev (kickass)
Metriod Prime 3
Red Steel
Avatar: The Last Airbender
DragonBall Z Tenkaichi 2
Donkey Kong
Tony Hawk Down Hill Jam
Also those retards who said the games coming out for Rev on lauch suck shut up please. You are just looking at a list that doesn't look good. Ross should have checked a little more when looking for titles. Iwata announched that they would have Super Smash Bros. Rev at launch last E3 so I don't know how he missed that so that was kind of dumb. For the rest of you before you diss this list check this one out first please and then see if none of these intreast you then diss but be warned I know for sure 4 of these games people would buy for sure and that is a good amount of games when you buy a console at launch.

"81. Nintendo practicly did invent touchscreen gaming. No one was really into touch screen games before the DS. No one can name a touchscreen game before the DS for the most part.

No touchscreen game before the DS made a blip on the sales chart or got developers excited.

Hell the Nokia N-cage was more popular for gaming then PDAs are.

So yes you need to shut the hell up. The DS is the first gaming system to use touch screen games.

You are obviously ignorant and have your face up Nintendo’s ass if you think that “Nintendo practically invented the touch screen”. They COPIED it – its like saying lets forgot about all the companies who made and developed touch screen gaming but when either Nintendo, MS and Sony try it for some reason it seems like they created it.

Wow the first touch screen to have two screens wow! That’s really innovative.

Its just like the N64 joystiq sony copied it from Nintendo and lauched it before the N64 came out so they would look like they made it but I personaly think the PS1 and 2 controller sucks balls and the best one is the gamecube but it has been beaten by the 360 one cause that is one damn comffy controller.

Look at the gamespot section on the revolution:
http://www.gamespot.com/rev/index.html

It's pretty much empty when compared to the ps3 and they are coming out at they same time.

Remember all the stuff we were promised on the gamecube? The best game ever made for it is Resident Evil 4, which is a sequel to the PS1 series. And WTF were they thinking with Nintendogs? As I said before, don't get your hopes up.

Hard to imagine that such a small list could create such controversy... Anyway I just wanted to respond to a couple of things. Franky J, you shouldn't be critcizing Joystiq. They are not travelling down the PS3/XBox 360 road as you like to call it. I'll be the first to admit that I am a Nintendo fan, but I think Joystiq is very fair and find plenty of pro Nintendo information on this site. Secondly a comment was made by Charli 3 stating that there weren't any games for the DS that would make him run out and buy it. Seriously, you need to do yourself a favour and get this system. I am 33 and have never owned a handheld system and didn't want one, until the DS. I didn't buy it to play games on the go, but for the experiences this system can offer that no other console can. Finally I am pretty excited about his game Sadness. I think using objects in the environment is an excellent break from collecting and upgrading weapons (probably make it a hell of a lot scarier too). The black and white is a classy touch as well. I hope this game lives up to it's potential.

To base ones opinion on a incomplete and possible list of games is rather pathetic.

Wait till the sucker is released or until the second wave of games come out. I have seen too many people sing a different tune after premature assumptions.

I have hope for the console. We will have to wait and see what the developers acutally do.

Resident Evil 4 the best game? You must not have played much at all.

Also that tiger.com pos it says the stlyus was used for system functions not games. Say weren't they the same people that funded the gizmodo and went under with it? Hell the Nokia N-cage is more known then that so is the wonderswan.

No one has ever heard of it. No gaming history piece mentions it or the dozens of pos ripoffs knockoffs coming out of china like the POPStation.

Name a stylus game I dare you. You haven't done it.

The June 2006 edition of Nintendo Power magazine revealed a few details regarding Activision's Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam, which the publication confirmed to be exclusive for the Nintendo DS and code-named Nintendo Revolution platforms.

The magazine stated that "by using the Revolution controller's motion-sensitivity, racers will be able to turn and boost without touching a button. The game will also feature button combinations to pull off tricks that recall the controls for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Underground titles."

According to Nintendo Power, Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam will incorporate four-player split-screen multiplayer, eight new racers, as well as eight environments modeled after real-world locations, including Machu Picchu in the Andes and the hills of San Francisco. In-game characters will also get a speed boost when the controller is thrust forward.

The developer for this new Tony Hawk title is Toys for Bob, a wholly-owned Activision subsiduary. Founded in 1989, Toys For Bob is best known for developing the space action adventure games Star Control and Star Control II which were published by Accolade. From 1993 to 2002, the studio worked exclusively with Crystal Dynamics until it was fully acquired by Activision in May of 2005.

Nintendo Power noted that more details and screenshots for Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam will be available in the July issue, but the game is likely to appear in some form at E3 in May.

*These are my opinions. Use with the appropriate spice. Don't take anything personally.*

Sabre-- consider yourself slapped. I speak from MY experiences. Which means, my experiences are different then someone elses and I can voice my recollections and opinions about them.

So what you're saying is, because you have an art background that automatically makes you better then anyone working in QA? I assure you, it is not a gravy "play games all day" kind of job and an art department at any company is not "better" then the QA department. I stick by my previous post. I would wager that a random 20 testers (or gamers out there) in a game design 1 day Jam would make a more creative and fun game then 20 random developers with random tools and hardware given to them.

I'm not saying all of QA in all companies are better skill-wise overall then developers. I am saying QA is overlooked way too often for fresh talent right under your noses and QA does not get the respect or pay it deserves. If I offended you, you take your posts waaaaaaay too seriously and it wasn't intended.

I've seen many co-workers and friends go from QA to being producers, programmers, artists, and designers professionally. Some have the degrees and needed backgrounds and sometimes they just have what they taught themselves on their own that stands out and get noticed.

Time spent in QA often gives you a better perspective in game development dos and don'ts then coming straight out of school and interning and/or going directly into a dev team.

Oh yeah, and Sabre... shoot me your resume and a link to your portfolio when you get it done ;) If your art backs what your ego is declaring, I want to see what you create!

Sadness and Red Steel have me very intersted. As a fan of survival horror, I'm thrilled to see at least one game in the works for the Revolution meant to scare me. Red Steel just sounds great -- even if it is rated "T" for "Teen" (I'd prefer "M"). Honorable mention goes to the River Raid rip-off. I loved the original River Raid and hope this one can capture the fun of that title.

Ah Sloopydrew a lot of popular shooters are rated T and have no blood such as the Call of Duty games. Guess all those complainers never noticed that mere fact. Look at the history of extremely popular highly rated FPS most have no blood whatsoever or very little.

Raid over the River is inspired by the old arcade 2D shooter games. Nanostray is decent but the stylus isn't too good for it. Need to use that thumbstrap that came with the DS for it.

@122: As someone who has problems with carpal tunnel syndrome, I can tell you that video game controllers are by and large substantially better designed ergonomically than most keyboards, mice, pens, and especially cell phones. With the Revolution controller I'm kind of hoping that not pressing buttons (much less pulling down the R-trigger all the time like in racing games) and swinging the controller around instead will be that much easier on my hands.

They're saying there isn't a touch pad game before the DS that hit it big in the public eyes. Not that there never was a touch pad game at all.

Just like the Revmote isn't going to be the first controller to use systems to detect positioning and movement. But it's going to be the first one brought to the mainstream.

On a side note, a stylus game that did hit it big is Drug Wars. Not nessicarily made for the stylus, but the stylus did make it a good deal faster.

Could we please stop with the whole DS/Stylus crap?! This thread has nothing to do with either the DS or a stylus.

I really wish this site had an option to ignore all posts by certain authors. That would make wading through this discussion much easier (not that this particular thread has much besides arguing back and forth anyway).

Back on topic, I would like to apologize to Joseph Hatcher for casting doubt on the Bob Ross game. Brilliant ideas/people can be found anywhere, just as boring rehashes are found everywhere. I seriously applaud your desire to inject some creativity into the dead-horse littered gaming industry. I certainly hope you can assemble your very own A-Team to take on the big dogs of corporate greed.

What would be really cool is if Nintendo had a universal image format that would allow you to save an image from one game and use it in another. An example of this would be to take a partial screen capture of you beating Zelda: Twilight Princess and transfering it to a T-shirt in Animal Crossing Revolution or using it as a starting point for a painting in the Bob Ross game.

I realize this could bring up issues with losers drawing offensive things and wearing them on T-shirts, but it's about the same as giving your character an obscene name, or using voice chat to be an offensive prick. Anyway, just thought I'd try to get this thread out of its arguing. Don't mind me.

to Kazi (about Trauma Center):

Ross might not want to put Trauma Center up there yet because there isn't much information about the Revolution version (I can't remember if it is "official" yet either). It is true that we do have about as much informaton on it as we do other titles such as Sunder or Raid Over the River.

I think it is just that the line between "sort of announced" and "completely confirmed" and everything in between is so blurry that Ross doesn't want to have his list end up like IGN's ("untitled such-and-such" by EA, release date: unknown, genre: unknown, everything: unknown").

It would be nice to have a better way of discussing the actual subject since this thread is already 130+ posts long and most of them are completely unrelated.

If you had stated everything you just wrote the first time then it wouldn't have sounded like you were talking out of your ass. It is true that people in QA are sometimes looked over, the blame doesn't all go on that person though.

There are always exceptions to the rule b/c me (and quite a few of my old classmates) were lucky enough to have had instructors from Blizzard, The Collective, EA, etc. and they showed us inside tricks and techniques we would need to know for working on a game.

Most of them have never done QA before but some were more then lucky enough to find a studio (two of them being Obsidian and Shiny) who would allow them to learn on the job while finishing up school.

But like you said...this is my experience and not yours. ;-)

Yes, of course Nintendo will crash and burn. Because they apparently have *zero* third party support -- that incomplete list is an excellent indicator of this, oh, and the fact that E3 2006 is in May (guess what! It's April!) -- and god knows that their "first party is the best party" philosophy has never earned them cash. Saw the trailers for Zelda TP? Yessirree, I looked at that and said to myself, "That won't sell more than ten copies." Smash Bros Revolution? Hah! And I don't know -anyone- who plays Metroid. Nope, can't see that they'd have any sales there. Because I'm such a great predicter of industry success, as is apparently everyone else here.

God knows I won't be buying the Rev. Because as a girl gamer (gasp! and I don't even play Nintendogs!), I took one look at XBox 360's lineup and realized that Microsoft wants to bring in my demographic while Nintedo thinks we're superfluous and doesn't bother. Girls can't get enough sports games and shooters with beautifully depicted gore, y'know, and we all know that Nintendo's lineup is exactly that.

(And in case anyone's wondering, we don't all think exactly alike, either, so take my comment in reference to just some female gamers.)

I have read most of the comments here, and although the fanboy/not-so-fanboy pingpong matches have been pretty amusing, I didn't relly want to post. Well, not until I came uppon Kylara's post.

Either you are a great troll, either you really need information regarding how E3 and Nintendo work, or, finally, your post was some kind of gigantic sarcasm fest. In all cases, I need to respond...

"Yes, of course Nintendo will crash and burn. Because they apparently have *zero* third party support -- that incomplete list is an excellent indicator of this"

As you sad in your phrase, the list is INCOMPLETE. That is for a simple reason: Nintendo is holding an NDA regarding screenshots and videos for Revolution until E3. What does that mean? It means most 3rd party developper's won't be saying anything as they can't show anything. Gameplay and visual undertanding of games will be done through the comprehension of the revmote. Until players are familiar with it (that will be Nintendo's job at E3) they would have only showed stills or footage of less stuning visual effects than 360 or PS3, downsizing what Nintendo is trying to achieve.

- oh, and the fact that E3 2006 is in May (guess what! It's April!)

As I said above, this is by choice of Nintendo, be patient, keep your eyes and mind open for E3, I am sure you will enjoy what you'll see :).

and god knows that their "first party is the best party" philosophy has never earned them cash.

I hope you are being sarcastic here, because games like Zelda:TTP, Metroid Prime 3, SSBM are probably some of the most anticipated games for E3.
I am not a fan of every Nintendo franchise, but all of them have been fun and interesting. Can't say the same for Microsoft first party titles on 360 until today...

- I took one look at XBox 360's lineup and realized that Microsoft wants to bring in my demographic (Sic).

360 has been out for, what, 6 months now ? Do you remember the E3 lineup for 360 before E3 in 2005? it was... pretty empty. Filled up during the show though.
Now ok, the "line up" for 360 has good games in there, but what good games have come out on 360 until todaythat are exclusive to the console, and that are not some "very pretty" version of a game we've already seen ?
I have to say, I am way more excited by revolution lineup than the 360's up to today.

- While Nintendo thinks we're superfluous and doesn't bother. Girls can't get enough sports games and shooters with beautifully depicted gore, y'know, and we all know that Nintendo's lineup is exactly that.

Expect to see all kind of games on rev, gory, pretty, kiddy, scary, funny.

The most important all in all is that they have to be fun! Stop making up your mind before the real begining ! You are giving your opinion on a console for which we know nothing !

Be patient (2 weeks :) ), keep your eyes open, think out of the box, and who knows, you might enjoy the rev for what it try's to be: a new videogaming experience.

(And in case anyone's wondering, we don't all think exactly alike, either, so take my comment in reference to just some female gamers.)

Hey guys --

Yeah, the list was, at first, rather small -- then again, the information is about as much as we have on PlayStation 3 launch titles (we know titles, and have a few screenshots). However, you could argue that PlayStation 3 information is easier to come by because, since most of the titles announced are sequels, we know just what to expect in terms of gameplay.

Since the feature has started, I have updated 7 times and added 5 titles (Pnagya Golf, Tony Hawk, Monkey Ball, DBZ, and Elebits). I am keeping a watchful eye on the 2 THQ games announced, but other than a title I haven't found much else. I'm sure by friday, when school work is a little bit lighter (i'm a full-time student, making this project harder) I'll put 120% more effort to finding it, but the list will eventually be something everyone will enjoy. Right now, I'm guessing it's up to 14% enjoyment and rising.

And despite predominant animosity toward the piece for its timing and length, since I am continually updating by about 200 words a day, I'll be sure to plug the hell out of it on each Joystiq daily recap and probably an extra post on fridays.

wow so you guys are depending on Joystiq to give you a big list (thats pretty sad). If I were you guys I would go to better video game websites like IGN.com, Gamespot.com, Revolutionreport.com, or Revogaming.com, this sites are the best for updates and news. And the people that are saying that's a bad list then go here http://revolution.ign.com/index/games.html, it has a better list and IMO 44 games is not bad. Also, games and more games are being annonced for the Revolution now which is really good and at E3, way more games will be shown and annonced (Yayyy!!!) Oh yea and one more thing, I forgot where I saw or read this (I think it was at Revogaming.com) it said that screen/screenshot will be shown for orb (aka Sadness)if the company gets permission.

Yshaana... I won't be too mean, but I had to laugh when I saw your ridiculously long response. Didn't you realize I was sarcastic when I said that Nintendo's lineup was mostly sports and gore? THAT'S the 360 lineup.

Of course I was indulging in a great big sarcasm fest. My god, you didn't pick that up when I said Twilight Princess will sell ten copies? (I actually have one on reserve.) Or when I said, "Because they apparently have *zero* third party support -- that incomplete list is an excellent indicator of this, oh, and the fact that E3 2006 is in May (guess what! It's April!)" ???? How did you not pick up that much sarcasm? The April comment should've definitely tipped you off. My goodness, my post was *oozing* sarcasm.

In any case, you seem fairly aware of what Nintendo's strengths are, so I'm going to assume you overdosed on the anti-Nintendo comments on this board and became temporarily stupid.

I was having a hard time determining if you were retarded or sarcastic too, Kylara. Hard to tell things like that when you say something sarcastic while being satirical.

EA Sports is making Madden Revolution. Rather than a direct port, it's built specifically for the system and uses the controller for, among other things, hiking and passing the ball.

This post is slowly shaping up nicely. I'm a bit bemused as to how someone can think that RE4 being the best game on the Cube is a bad thing. So it's a sequel to a PSone game? So what? We're still playing sequels to games that were released on the NES and it doesn't factor into it. If every sequel was as good as Resident Evil 4, then nobody would be complaining about an over abundance of sequels.
