Though EA has released several FIFA iterations this year, the new 2006 World Cup might be worth a look if you haven't played the series in a while and have $30 bucks to spare. If anything it should get you pumped for the world's largest sporting event if you're a futbol buff.
- IGN 84% - "EA put together its most solid soccer gameplay experience yet and the deepest World Cup title of all time. Still, it's hard to argue that the gameplay, an obvious imitation of Winning Eleven, is better, but with star players and a nifty new shooting mechanism, it would be hard to argue it's worse."
- Games Radar 70% - "The biggest disappointment is the sheer lack of innovation in the game engine and graphics. Yes, the shooting mechanic is a little different, but for the most part the gameplay is the same as the last few FIFA games."

So glad I didn't buy that "Launch" version of FIFA for 360. Played it's demo and it was just pathetic. Just tried out the new one on the screens at Best Buy and think I'll be picking it up. Massive improvements. Winning Eleven is better still, but I'm happy to finally have a good footie in HD. EA should offer to replace copies of that crap version for this one to all 360 owners. Hopefully not that many 360 owners fell for that junk.

Iheard the game wasw only 2 players. Sorry but ill pass. The only thing that makes sports game worth a purcase for me is the fact that they are fun to play when the friends come over for poker and all the eliminated players have nothing to do. 2 layer support will not cut it, I need 4 (and these games should support 8)

IGN's score is seriously drugged up, as usual. Apologies for the stereotype, but it's normal to see an American reviewer hand out pretty high scores for FIFA games, look at FIFA 06 on GameSpot if you don't believe me. I mean, come on! It nearly scored the same as Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven), despite being leagues apart.
Obviously this is because football isn't nearly as important over in America as it is over here.

It has nothing to do with America... it's all about the $$$... which America is all about...
Too many times we've seen EA games reviewed higher than they should. IGN paid off? Could be.

It was crazy to see the high scores that were given to Fifa 06. That game has been crappy for years and just because of the licenses they seem to think that a high score is justifiable. Even the non-licensed players in Winning Eleven look better, and don't get me started on the gameplay. I think they make it obvious they are biased.

#5 dont be so quick to judge. The guy who reviewed the game for Gamespot was Justin Calvert, and Englishman. think before u speak. maybe u are the one who is drugged up.

Doesn't matter who reviews this game. If it gets more than a 5 out of 10 than someone is smokin dope. The graphics are weak and the gameplay is as frustrating as the ones before it. I have to wonder if the brainiac down at EA that designs the soccer games has ever played it before. They need to ask for feedback so they can get more realism on player movements and reads. If you are a FIFA junkie and can't handle some negative feedback about the game then u know where to go. ;)
