Yesterday, there was talk of Elder Scrolls IV:
Oblivion ports to the PlayStation 3 and PSP. Developer Bethesda Softworks wasted no time in dismissing the rumors
with this response: "At present, we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than
PC or Xbox 360." According to Eurogamer, a gaming forum participant named "snatches" claimed he saw the alleged ports on a Bethesda release list for November. Disappointing news for the Sony faithful, although you have to keep in mind the official response includes our favorite ambiguous marketing gems, "at present", and, "no announced plans." More grist for the rumor mill. We'll keep you posted.

so you want new games with all the new features that come along with new games... but you dont want to get the hardware to support them.. and you hate the developer for it? clearly i'm missing something here. (although i do wholeheartedly agree with viva la revolution!)

No big deal, just thought I'd let you know.

Handheld versions of games are NEVER direct ports of console games from the same era. They never have been. Look at Sonic on the Mega Drive and compare to the Game Gear. Look at Mario on the Snes and compare to the Gameboy. Look at just about any other game that EVER came out on a console and a handheld during the same couple of years and you will ALWAYS see technically less demanding versions on the handheld.
Just WHAT the blue fuck are you whining about? No-one EVER intended to even ATTEMPT a PSP version of a game like Oblivion. It would have been adapted for the hardware and probably been Zelda-style top-down affair - which would have been a piece of piss for the PSP to run.
Please stop banging on about an issue that doesn't even exist.

No. That's not really it at all. Menu navigating? You're comparing Oblivion to Zelda? With an unfavorable result?! You obviously know nothing about it. Make no mistake--IF you enjoy RPGs, AND you can't play Oblivion, you ARE missing out. Sorry to disappoint you--but it's a great game.

I'll take your word for it, I've only watched someone play it for 45 minutes or so, and he was in a menu for more than half the time. It just looked really really boring to me. You aren't disappointing me at all, just pointing out what I saw. I still stand behind the fighting comment though. Hand to hand, sword to sword, battle axe to rat is pretty dull.
I do like some RPGs, but I haven't played many. FFIII(US), FFII(US), Secret of Mana/Evermore, and a couple more probably. Waiting for Children of Mana to come out for the DS, that should be tight

It sounds as though you're describing character creation in Oblivion. You could argue that the game hasn't actually started at that point. And, although combat may not be as intricate as you'd like, you have a number of options with regard to weapons--and your skills/options increase with your level. Oblivion lacks the combat move options of fighting games such as Dead or Alive--but, then again, it's not intended to be a fighting game.
