Still, you don't shoot near/at anybody, let alone inside your own house.

To be fair, the article states: "The bullet hit the wall about three feet from where the son was sitting."

This doesn't mean the father missed the computer by 3 feet. Who knows, maybe he missed the computer by just a couple inches, and the son was 3 ft away from the computer.

Nice parenting skills... why not just give your 22yr old son the boot. Force him to get his own place, and a job to boot.

Besides, shooting the monitor won't kill the computer. If you want to properly kill a computer, just leave it (unplugged) out in the rain, face down (or install Windows ME on it).

What we really need to know is if the dad played FPS games at all. If so, we might blow out of the water the theory that they teach people how to properly shoot a gun.

He'll probably get an aggravated assault charge. Based on those facts, I don't see any court going for the attempted murder case.

Ah, video games. People love them so much, it can hurt.

"He'll probably get an aggravated assault charge. Based on those facts, I don't see any court going for the attempted murder case."

Read the article:

"His 22-year-old son Tim called 911, saying he and his dad were arguing and his dad had just shot at him."

That is pretty much the definition of attempted murder.

Let's look at the evidence. Dad shoots wall 3 feet from monitor. Son says dad shot at him. Dad says he "accidentally" shot at the computer instead. Who you gonna believe?

He's not being charged with murder. The charge is attempted murder. To prove an attempt in court, you have to show specific intent. Based on the article, the dad didn't want to kill his son, just to end his computer-playing and get him to do the laundry. No mens rea there, which means he can't be convicted.

Aggravated assault is threat with a deadly weapon. What'll probably happen is the guy will plead on an assault charge, since he'll be threatened with attempted 2nd degree murder.

Its obvious he's an idiot for using a gun... but come on... if he really wanted to shoot his son, his son would be shot right now. Fuck people are so stupid, especially his son. I wonder where he gets it from :(

Too bad Chuck Norris wasnt his Dad. Then he would've just roundhouse kicked the monitor, vaporizing it and leaving a 10 foot wide hole in the wall instead of a bullet.

And that's why the law should not allow degenerates to possess fire arms.

Like Babu said, if he really wanted to kill his son, his son would be dead now. You can miss the 1st shot, but normaly the 2nd one hit (at that distance and with a slow/non-moving target).

Some people should be be sterilized at birth so they can't have kids. What a dumbass. I hope his kid does run away, if anything for his own safety.

Alex, we caught you the first time. the problem with that is defining degenerates. How do you do it?. And, once you do, how do you keep them out of the White House? ( this is a problem thet has plagued the U.S. for the last 5 1/2 years.)

My previous double-post was lag-based.

Simple, just don't allow civillians to possess fire arms of any kind. Stricter law enforcements will make sure that no one will ever need to defend themselves with such a weapon.

As for keeping them out of the Whitehouse, I believe that a National Wii should do the job.
