Brotherhood
of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans will be manning the chair for a film based on
Onimusha, Capcom's popular action-adventure franchise. Silent Hill had a successful weekend, and if it
continues to perform well at the box office, Gans is under contract to direct its sequel. This means the
Onimusha flick could be a few years off. Hopefully, Brotherhood wasn't a fluke, and Gans will deliver another top notch action thriller, samurai style. There's no mention of Onimusha 3's Jean Reno appearing in the film, but adding Brotherhood's Monica Belucci to the cast wouldn't hurt.

What about Takeshi Kaneshiro - you know, the other guy you've actually got a picture of above?
Doubtful, I know, but it does start to get a little weird when you've got movies based on video games that already have the likenesses of famous actors in them.

Jeff, I'm sure the main character will be in the movie even though cast and story hasn't been created yet. If they announce a completely different story, that will be a recipe for disaster.

Please stop making crappy movies based on games.

It's not just that it's the main character. Samanosuke's character model is basically Kaneshiro Takeshi.
If they're making the movie, it's only right to use him as the lead.

Yet to see SH, but I've heard more positive comments than negative. I think it was just aimed at a very tight market segment, and that does not a box-office-smash make.

I am an avid fan of Gans since seeing Crying Freeman and I thoroughly enjoyed Brotherhood of the Wolf as well. I would eagerly anticipate him doing an Onimusha film.

I really really hope that Takeshi Kanesheshiro is going to be in it, he's a damn fine actor, in fact he's the man. Ever watch "House of Flying Daggers", or "Returner", even his new film "Perhaps Love" is great.
C'mon Gans, do it right !

In my humble opinion SH2 was the best of the series and although a lot was taken from SH1 and 2 to make the film the story line was left untouched. Sean Bean starting the film after just pulling into a Silent Hill toilet out side of the city beside the lake looking at him self in the mirror anyone?
I personally liked the film and I liked the strong symbolism that was used and although some of the dialogue was cheesy, I thought that it was over all well done, the end was the only part that left me a little out of sorts (the main "gore" scene where she re-enacted her revenge) for a movie that is so tightly inter-linked with what had gone before that a few things stand out as out of place, "spoiler" ---- such as the barb wire "arms", I think a better device would have been the ash babies coming out and dragging then towns folk into the burning pit below.
either way I liked it I thought that the music which was written by the game score creator was excellent and did a wonderful job of building tension.
as to the game to film nay sayer's I would advise them that this Genre is still a burgeoning one and still being tweaked film by film, some will take steps forward some with take steps back but it will get there. ;)

The Silent Hill movie was okay. Nothing great, some really bad plot progression and dialogue. And some terrible actors with high pitched squeeky voices. But the atmosphere of the game to big screen stuck, so it was worth seeing in the end. He can do better for SH2, im sure.
