We received far more entries for our intentionally brief Odama screenshot contest than we imagined. We've now seen more Scientology jokes (it's the one religion you're allowed to make fun of), Star Wars scenes (man you guys are nerds!), and even an MSPaint-applied wiener (you know who you are) that we think is allowable by law. In comparison, our selection was a pretty safe bet. The formula for a winning entry is as follows:
- Dress Tom Cruise as Link
- Make him crazy (note the red eyes...and Tom Cruise)
- Add revmote (natch)
- Add dialog to taste
- Voilá! Winning entry!
Mad photoshop skillz not necessary. This one even came with a story: "HOLLYWOOD, California (Joystiq) - Tom Cruise, world-renowned actor, has decided to remove himself from the motion picture based on the popular video game Odama . Cruise recently decided that his role of Yamanouchi Kagetora '[clashes] with Scientology's beliefs and practices.' Nintendo Home Video (NHV), creators of the movie, responded by replacing Cruise with a black box in all of his scenes. The image above is a photo of the edited movie released by NHV."

An entry appropriately titled zOMGTEHWTF! We might add BBQ in there for total pastiche effectiveness.
Why doesn't this game exist? Seriously. I'd play it. Revolution exclusive? Get on it, Ross.
This entry went the total-conversion mod approach, resulting in a nice mix of feudal Japan and...Lion King?
One of the many Katamari Damacy entries. Bonus points for the Tom Cruise item indicator in the lower left...what's harder to roll up, him or his ego? Oh schnap! Noididnt!
Yeah, we got several of the same entry with minor variations. This one was executed particularly well. I think Eps. 1-3 just pain me too much to think about it any more...
You know what he's so scared of? The Joystiq 2006 limited edition, ultra-deluxe megashirt! Aiieeeeeee!
So, if Tom Cruise isn't the MCP...

whats funny is if you look at the movie "legend" staring a younger tom-cat (stupid hollywood names)
that movie was the closet we could ever get to a actuall legend of zelda movie. the evil villian even remind me of a mix between ganondorf and gannon.

I'm surprised the more creative ones that actually stuck with an Odama theme didn't win. I'm mainly talking about the 6th entry on this page. Putting in text bubbles is seriously Fark level stuff and pretty unimaginative, no offense to those who did it.

lol, I wasn't even thinking about Lion King, now that I look at it, I do see it. :) Maybe I should have thrown in Simba or something lol All in good fun though, I like the more artistic aproach. Dont enter for the win, enter for the experience.

Number !1, Goose flew in an F-14, that is an F-15 which is not used by the Navy. The F-15 does not deserve to fly in tthe same airspace as the allmighty Tomcat. Neither does Tom Cruise.

Contests are always hard to judge guys.... I was hoping there wouldn't have been as many entries with the short time and (relatively) steep entry barrier. Still, we had over a hundred easy, and picked the ones that really stood out, made us laugh, really well done, etc. Everything that came in was great though... even the MSPaint weiner!

I'm still completely lost as to what Tom Cruise
(other than starring in a movie set in (post?) Feudal Japan) has to do with Odama. Anyone care to explain?
Also, how could you guys pick that one??? It looks like it was put together in 10 seconds! That [i]Lion King[/i] one is amazing!
