Oh, I forgot to add, you are welcome, of course. Also, I think Madden might be going overboard with the gestures. Maybe missing the point. The point is immersive controls, not gesturing for everything. But there's no way to tell unless I play. I hope they make an NCAA version because I really don't care about pro ball.

So basically you will be playing a real game of football without moving your feet? Sounds incredibly lame, not to mention i would never want to be seen playing this game around anyone other than my shadow. I also can't wait to read the many reviews stating "This game brings a new meaning to the word frustration." and "Wow, 5 minutes into this game and the nerves in my arm exploded from fatigue." Might as well save your money and rent a magician for a few months, you'll save money, it will be just as gimmicky, and it will probably hold your attention longer than the revmote wonder.

To bv and others who share his mis-informed views...

I see that there are some people out there that still need enlightenment on the rev controller. Let alone the history of Nintendo's 'gimmicky' products. The rev mote won't require you to frantically wave your arms around like an ass clown. You can simply 'flick' your wrists to execute what ever action you wish to do. Waving your arms around is optional.

The last 'gimmicky' thing that Nintendo produced is the Nintendo DS. Now, do we really have to explain this one to you too? I hope not. If we had to, then maybe you can tell us where the Dodo birds ended up.

My opinion on this game is the complete opposite of yours. I was considering buying a revolution solely because of its inovative controller design, but i was unsure. Now i think i am convinced. Hell, it sounds like my 360 is going to be collecting dust in the near future. It seems like this game will be so much fun!

it sounds great to me. And it shouldn't take grand gestures to accomplish this stuff. It's not going to be the same game as it used to be, so the folks who've spent their whole lives mastering and memorized which buttons spin, jump, juke, and dive will be on an even playing field. It just sounds so much better than push the right shoulder button to shift your line left- just press a button pre-snap and move the line left. Same with setting a man in motion. I also hope they'll bring back lateral passes. it would be great.

My big problem with the controller is going to be sensing speed and converting that to actual gameplay...

Lets use being a quarterback as an example:

You move back, get ready to 'throw' the ball (dont throw the revmote, just make the arm motion in the direction you want), yet the tv shows you got sacked... You're still gonna make the throwing motion because there's no feedback to say, you're eating dirt now...

Things like this are gonna make it seem a little less than perfect IMHO...

Also, I practice IAIDO (sword drawing) and I would think a sword weilding character would be sweet, but like the FPS genre, just HOW MANY sword fighting games will they be able to make before we start saying, my lord, not another one....

Just my .02....

"Hey, you just bought the Revolution. It has a unique controller, and this game is unique. This is proof of why you bought the Revolution. We're not simply going to port games, we're going to make them so you feel they're unique and original offerings. Sure you might have played a football game before, but not like this."

"What's important to us is we've recognized the uniqueness of the Rev and how innovative it is, and what we don't want to do is say, 'Hey, there's another platform, lets port a game to it and get it on that platform.'"

Yowza. Out of all the games in the world, I never thought the Madden franchise would be the first one declaring itself to be port-free on Wii. No half-assed port incorporating some stupid features on Wii, rather, a whole new way of playing Madden.

I will enjoy this to no end if the online component smoothly meshes with the game.

Oh, and EA better bring Fight Night Wii. If that would play like the arcade boxing machines I've seen around, I would have a heart attack of joy.

So umm.. if you want to spike the ball after getting a touch down, does this mean you have to buy a new controller afterwards?

AH-HA! This is EA's plan for helping nintendo buy accessories! Chalk one up for EA's evil money-making schemes... the bastards.

Well "technically" if they did add a first person perspective it wouldn't be the first football game to do it.

But in EA fashion they will rip it off and somehow make it seem like it has never been done before.

I'll believe it when I see it!!! When is the last time that EA made a solid port designed specifically for a system? How long did it take to add Xbox Live functionality to their games? How long did it take to add ANYthing that Xbox had feature wise to their games (custom soundtrack, etc). They didn't even bump up the graphics for the Xbox version over the PS2 version back in the day. Simply put...EA doesn't cater to each system! They will make a half-assed port. Thats what they do best. EA might be the biggest game publisher in the land, but how many games have they made that utilized the Nintendo DS to its full ability? Would you put any EA games in your Nintendo DS top 10 even? (I use the DS as an example here because like the Wii, it brings new gameplay elements). Let's get real here. EA became EA by making one game and spreading it to each system. They are terrible about tweaking games for each system to take advantage of what that system does best. I really hope I am wrong, but I don't see how they can make a really different, really solid Madden game for the Wii (at least not the first time around). Hell look at the Xbox 360 version of Madden. They didn't appear to take their time to take full advantage of the 360 now did they? I will be buying a Wii when it comes out, and probably a handful of games, but I don't count on this being one of them. If I did buy this game, I would buy the PS3 version, just because it seems like EA creates the game for the Sony system, and then ports it over to the others. At least thats what happened last generation (for the most part).

i am not totally convinced by this wii controller (and please come up with something different other than crossing out revolution and replacing it with wii in every sentence. it's creativity look it up). What if I wanna say avoid a rusher so while I'm running to the right I wanna pass (while still running mind you). how is that gonna work. and I know about the nunchuck thing so i will be running with the controller part (holding it in one hand and controlling it with the same hand) and throwing with the wii-mote. this just seems like I'm either gonna get sacked alot or I'm not gonna have alot of fun because of the control scheme. I'm all for innovation, but I have a feeling that this may just be a glorified Power Glove. Did R.O.B. succeed? Did power glove succeed? Did the power mat succeed? How about virtual boy (now I'm showing my age). I love nintendo. I grew up with Zelda and Mario. and those two franchises alone will make me buy a wii (i no longer have my gamecube so i'll just buy a wii and play twilight princess on that.) but I feel that Nintendo may not be along too much longer. The only thing keeping their head above the water is portables. I don't think the PSP will ruin that for them, but eventually they will fall. This may be the beggining of the end for an icon. Excuse me while I get some tissues

Wii would like to remind you that the above screenshot is only a single frame. Wii has been assured by EA that they will challenge everything and have their Wii team work overtime to make sure that Wii will have Wii-alistic™ animation & graphics unlike anything available on other next generation consoles.

Why do the people who think EA will make a half assed port neglect to grasp that EA is devoting an entire studio division to it?

They didn't do that for the xbox port. They didn't talk about how they were porting it to the xbox. Sorry naysayers grow a brain before you start commenting on something.

I don't mean to be a dick, but you say this as if you've played one and it's sitting in your living room as you speak. You have no idea how sensitive the motion sensors on the revmote, or I mean wiimote will be. How do you know if a stiff arm will require you to move the controller 1 centimeter or 1 foot? You don't. If all it takes is 1 cm to throw the football, then that's pointless. It's supposed to be realistic right? I would assume that means a full motion throw, or at least more than a "flick of the wrist". This is why I am not making any decisions on the Wii/Rev until I play it myself.

I thought all you wii-fanboys would be happy EA is catering to you with Madden specifically designed for the controller (I refuse to say w**mote). The game play dynamics sound very DDR-like. I don’t know if that will work for Madden, especially playing against another person at your house. If you have to stand in front of the TV and perform passing and catching (I’m guessing) motions, how does your competitor tackle you? With tackling motions? (if there’s enough room in front of your TV) With the controller? If so, then how is that person gonna see the TV if you’re dancing around in front of it throwing stiff arms? Or will you need two TVs, Wii’s and copies of Madden to play against someone in you living room? I digress. To me these are all interesting questions to which I hope we all hear answers to soon.
