looks fun. Too bad Ill never play it. I dont buy handhelds since they only time I actually play them, is in my house. So why buy a handheld with a tiny screen and much smaller/gimmickeir games when I can just own the console counterpart.

They should put this game one the gamecube and charge less $ for it. Then I would buy it.

But with DS there's an extra incentive to own it even if you never play it outside the house - the touch screen, which can't be replicated on consoles as of yet.

The game is already thirty dollars. You want it even cheaper? This game is a full-blown production, with the development costs exceeding similar games in the past that have sold for fifty or even sixty dollars.

If you don't want to play portable systems at home or elsewhere, good for you. But I'm not missing out on what will obviously be the best 2-D platformer for ANY system in years. And gimmicky? Please. As far as I know, NSMB barely even uses the second screen, and completely ignores and microphone and touchscreen capabilities during the main game.

Ah, the 74th Mario game - this must be that wonderful Nintendo innovation I'm always hearing about...

I know, it's getting so old. So are all these movies, they all have a bad guy in them. Yawn.

Please. There are at least nine genres sporting the Mario franchise title, and while this game itself isn't groundbreaking, it's of a type that we haven't seen since somewhere around 1991. Nintendo uses its franchises, but it doesn't churn out sequel after repetitive sequel a la Gran Turismo, Madden, and however many others.

Nintendo waits 16 years to release a new 2d Mario platformer, while during that time developing games sony or ms would never attempt, and turning a interface once considered a gimmick into an intuitive way to play games that would have been impossible(or atleast severally butchered) on the accepted dpad/analog plus buttons setup.

2d Mario platformers have constantly been as close as possible to gaming perfection, and Nintendo has in no way flooded the market with Mario sequels. I don't understand why people complain when Nintendo puts mario in it's racing/sports/party games. They would be great games with our without mario characters, but kids love mario and I guaranty every kid who owns a gamecube would much rather play Mario Soccer then "generic midget like human soccer".

I don't understand how any rationalperson could have a problem with this game being released.

Ah, another comment from someone criticizing Nintendo for using its tried and true, consistently moneymaking mascot. They never get old!

People like this guy are the reason they port games from and to the PSP. People like this should just buy a DS, because they miss out on fun games otherwise.

Looks truly excellent. Hearing and seeing the castle level is pretty hot, too.

Same here, but I know I'm not getting a DS and I don't know anyone with a DS

And like someone mentioned about the water scene in trailer 1, the ropes parts here sort of resemble Donkey Kong more than Mario

to #2. I rarely play them myself, except on flights (foreign and domestic) and on the train. It really helps the time to pass, and is the perfect distraction from the annoyances of people on the flight. I don't know how much traveling you do, but on international flights, I would go crazy without one.

DS is by far the best console in the past decade. I'm not sure what it is about the haters, but you're missing out on a system that is redefining the industry. I've been playing games i've never even thought were possible, and having a blast. For something this cheap, I really can't understand how anyone could let their bias blind them from buying it.

Seriously, i've own nearly every console released in recent times. I spend more money buying the latest and greatest, but what the DS has brought gaming is just jaw dropping.

And yeah, I love Sony and Microsoft as well. This isn't a slight against either. Just offering a word of wisdom to those who just rage against the machine for no reason. You're missing out.

Man, I truly look forward to this. Just paid off my pre-order today.

Also, K-Balls, it has been over a dozen years since the last true new 2d Mario game was released. How can you complain? I want to yell at the big N for just the opposite reason, we haven't gotten nearly enough in the way of 2d Mario goodness, while Zelda and Metroid get plenty of 2d love in comparison.
