Microsoft
has already
hinted at plans to make Xbox Live the best source for E3
coverage by providing as much downloadable content related to E3 as
possible. Today, Microsoft released a list of what to expect next
week while you enjoy free Xbox
Live Gold. While the celebrity gaming session are kind of lame (Jenny McCarthy, Method Man ... what year is this again?), you can expect some new Call of Duty 2 multiplayer maps, UNO for the Xbox Live Arcade, and some behind-the-scenes videos from E3. Oh, and a demo of Lost Planet, as well as some other goodies from such hotly-anticipated titles as Viva Piñata, Splinter Cell: Double Agent and the new Sonic the Hedgehog. This near-simultaneous download is a smart move for Microsoft -- no longer will you have to listen to silly, ego-centric bloggers to know whether or not the demo we played (or trailer we saw) at the show was fun.
The demos and/or trailers that will whet your appetite:
- Test Drive: Unlimited
- Moto GP ‘06
- Crackdown
- Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2
- The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle Earth II
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Splinter Cell: Double Agent
- Viva Piñata
- "Plus a flood of HD trailers from games that have yet to be announced." Hmm ... could they be referring to Halo 3?
[Thanks, bv]
[update 1: In our excitement, we misread the statement. The aforementioned titles may or may not be playable demos; the only one confirmed to be released as a demo is Lost Planet. Sorry for the confusion.]
