Stuff like this makes me want to travel more. See what the rest of the country is like.

I live in Seattle, it's cool that we are supposedly the top video gaming, athletic, and most educated city... but it makes me wonder....

Woo-hoo! I was born and raised in the Twin Cities and just bought a house there that I move into a week from today! Maybe it has something to do with the weather. What else is there to do outside of gaming, when it's 20 below zero farenheit? (Don't answer that question.)

Does this list refer to best cities to live in for GAMERS or GAME MAKERS?

And I'm moving to L.A. from Boston in a few months too... =/

"the Seattle area is home to both Nintendo and Microsoft US headquarters."
Surely, this factor alone gives Seattle an edge over other cities. On the one hand, people here have good money while Nintendo and Microsoft are key players in the gaming industry.
Nintendo is focusing on making games for the elderly people in Japan. Nintendo, the famous video game producing company has released its product for elderly people. It is called, “Brain Training Game.” The game is a big hit among elders of Japan. People over 60 (http://asianbiz.blogspot.com/2006/05/popular-japanese-toy-products-for.html)are the main buyers

Well it makes sense, considering Nintendo of America and Microsoft are literally a stones throw away from each other, and there are several other large dev houses such as Bungie, Valve, Zipper... in the area. The Penny Arcade dudes live here, Digipen is here, hell just call us San Francisco-lite for the amount of startups and VC cash flying around this city. It does rain more than average here, but not even close to 283 days. I see our propaganda machine is working as planned :) Seattle is somewhat of a mecca for outdoor activities (Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, etc.....), so people here spend time outdoors way more than the average American, I can guarantee it (hence the high physical fitness rating).

Postive media press for the Northwest? I'm waiting for someone to "challenge" this award list. Then Minneapolis-St. Paul to sneak into first like Pittsberg sneaked away with the superbowl.

"4. eyes glued to screens does not a great city make :)"

Psh, you're just mad because Seattle beat you. =D
SCORE ONE FOR RAIN! I MEAN, SEATTLE!

And for the record, the Nintendo of America HQ and Microsoft HQ are both in REDMOND. NOT SEATTLE. (Okay, I know they said "Seattle area", but still, when they're both in the same city, and even within walking distance of each other as I hear, I figured they'd note that).

"8. That makes sense because it rains there 283 days out of the year."

OH, PLEASE.

It's at LEAST 294 days per year. =D (Yes, I live near Seattle).

I can see the Seattle Times headlines now...

"Seattle gets Seahawk'd! Not by Pittsburgh this time!"
