Sigh.....this is amazing. The Wii fans and the PS3 fans are going at each others necks, restarting [heh] a feud as long as the idea of the Nintendo Playstaion...but the 360 fans are realitivly[sp?] quiet about this. Yes the Wii has a weird name and the Ps3 is overpriced...but both have good and Bad qualities o_O;. Mr. Nintendo is whining 'Oh.... Sony ripped us off.....' and Sir Sony is complaining 'Ohhhh... you wii-tards are so immature...i can afford a PS3 plus games and extra crap while the averege family cant =p'. Im a Nintendo junkie my self [not a fanboy! theres a diffrence] and i like the Wii, but the fan boys are digging it deeper and deeper about the Wii. And PS3 people. All i heard as a comeback to 'people can't afford it' is 'ROFL GET A FUCCKIN JOB PUNKS' or etc. Ya know what? People do have jobs and use the money from them wisely..not just blow it all on a $600 Console with, what? 4 GOOD GAMES!!! [GASP].

Yep while Sony and Nintendo Fanboys are bitching about this.. the Xbox 360 community is snickering and playing their Next-Gen system before the rest...and above that are the PC users Laughing their asses off about this 'DUD3 W3 R M0R3 1337 T3HN A11 T3HM!!!11'. so heres my message. Console Fanboys, stop tearing eachother appart about the Next-Gen stuff...we have 1 main enemy....PC OWNERS!!

Oh and by the way...im getting a Revoloution [im not calling the thing a Wii =p] and already own a Xbox 360, but i have no plan of buyin a PS3 unless they do something amazing.

[Like be creative]

Ok, seriously, it's one thing to take motion sensitivity, another thing to make a system that is, really, just an updated PS2 (read: shottily-crafted crap with good games), and a whole other matter to charge over 500 bucks for it...
But seriously, when it comes down to it, the only thing that will keep them from winning is 1) if Nintendo sues (do they even have a copyright on the motion sensor?), 2) the price (no system buys, no buying out Capcom), and 3) If America will buy this crap. Sony is liked less than Microsoft in Japan, and there's no doubt they're being spat on for this... the only reason they aren't back to making TVs (good ones, at that) is America...

In retrospect, i liked the Boomerang. That said, as a sworn enemy of Sony (they killed my dog and kicked my kitten), i wasnt going to get it anyway. The Xbox pulled a nice trick by being but out by Xmas. I am still suprised that they were able to jump ahead of the game so early, and also still suprised that they have yet to come out with a true killer app. People basicly bough the 360 with dreams of gum drops and Halo 3. But back to the point, i am proud of Sony, for they have draged themself to a new low. At 55 dollers a micro chip, another ripped idea, and a suprising lack of inovation, the PS3 looks, more than ever, than a steaming piece of crap on a stick. And for the record, i always knew that Sony ripped ideas, but never before has it been so blatent. Besides the one killer app of MSG4, PS3 has nothing going for them and, really, im suprised that people haven't seen through the smoke and mirrors and horrible copyright infringments before this. As to why they haven't made a third person adventure game piting you aginst zombies that hump you to death http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=74 , and where after you kill them you get dimond like things (green red and blue in colour), and your quest is to rescue a princess called Elda. They'll call it "The Ledend of Elda" and they'll also call it "inovative" and "ground breaking." But i loose myself once again. Point is that Sony, after cheating thier way through the pocket books of thier customers, with half assed attempts and unfafilled promises, might have to discontinue admit defeat and give up the Play Station line. And on that day, i will have an orgasm that will short circuit LOVE.

i would never get a Wii. Why? i don't own any games from every nintendo console. i will never own them. i have neither the will nor the interest to go out and track them down. i would never get an XBOX360. why? same reasons as above, but also because i don't want another unreliable microsoft OS. so my final choice? ps3. i own ps and ps2 games. i'll never know if it's flimsy because
a) i wouldn't fling it around like a frisbee
b) i wouldn't use it as a soccer ball
c) i wouldn't use it as a chair
d) i wouldn't drop it from any height

Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Burnout, and Metal Gear Solid all the way!

As it is from Sony, it's probably a bad idea to drop it from any height anyway. As in, leave it in the box. Along those lines, it's better, economically speaking, if you don't buy it at all.
Microsoft owns you, all your computers, all your internets, and it's in all your bases killing your mans. Time to face it.
No matter what console system you get, it will never be quite as good as a computer game could be for one reason alone : Internet. You may have your Halo online and your first person shooters, but there has yet to be a connecting point for PCs and consoles. That's a shame because it also encourages the making of crappy games like Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for consoles.
The Wii is probably the most innovative thing to come for about 10 years, solely because it is NOT a PC in disguise. Yay for innovation, but this also means it will have a disadvantage in games since its best will be shown through custom games. If it manages to do the downloading of games online as thought previously, it will be the best selling system. Period. The reason? Nostalgia, really. You may love PS2, you may have been with Sony since day 1, but every person likes at least one game from the past. Oh, and your parents probably love it too.

PS3, great. Controller... not so great. Innovation: none. 0 stars for you, Sony, because you didn't make a connection or break any grounds.

Heres something intresting. I just realized something. Sony's games, handheld and consoles are basicallly HALF ASSED CREATIONS. Im not saying the games are bad [Belive me, i want some Kingdom Hearts and Rachet and Clank too!], but its that every thing sony makes, another object does better. Lets see;PS2Sidekick2>Sidekick1>PSP>Cell Phone>N Gauge

Heylo, I never really cared for Sony. It is pricey, and I wont buy one. Even if it has a blue-ray player, just wait a year or two and they will be like cd-players, 40 bucks. I personally prefer Nintendo because they brought back gaming.
But as for Sony, I think they are just trying to make money off the system, or trying to break even with it. Most platforms lose money on the system but make it up in games. Sony does get some pretty good games for their systems, but I prefer playing it at Wal-Mart.
All in all, I believe Nintendo will remain on top, Microsoft in 2nd, and Sony last.

Oh you're kidding. Who the HELL pays 500-600 DOLLARS for a console?! I mean, it's just common sense- No one's going to buy it, because it's TOO MUCH MONEY.

Total crap. Wii's looking awesome right about now.... Not only pricewise.

This could possibly be very bad news for Sony. I think they are really overestimating the strength of their brand loyalty. Sony didn't win the last two console wars due to brand loyalty, they won because they had a reasonbly priced system with the best overall selection of games.

I predict two major things will happen just before or at the time of the PS3 launch:
1. 360 will have a price drop.
2. Halo 2 will come out.

When your average gamer has to choose between a $600 system (not even factoring games, accesories) and another that is reasonably priced (X360 will probably drop to 399, possibly 299) with one of the most anticipated games ever, that spells major problems for sony.

i aint a fanboy.

first of all, a video game is a video game, not real-life or a movie. The graphics don't define a game. This is my opinion. I'm really not drooling over ps3's graphics.

for you people who say that motion sensors have been around in arcades, look up red steel. It sounds much more immersive than an arcade game (not that i'll buy it, but it is a perfect example of how immersive the wii controller is). lots of people complain about swinging around looking stupid with the wii. you should know that you can turn the controller around and hold it like the nes controller (this may only be the case for a few games). there are also four gamecube controller slots on the wii for games like super smash bros. brawl. also, the wiimote is very sensitive. you may not have to move your arm around so much.

and please, stop complaining about the name "wii". If it makes you feel better call it the revolution. wii means "we", meaning it's for everyone, which is nintendo's aim.

Finally, stop saying it's for immature people. I know lots of mature adults who like mario games. anyway, guns and blood looking like real life is partly why people shoot and kill anyway.

Well, lets here, Sony added 2 new technology that will cost a shitload to produce (a.k.a Blu-ray and cell processing). Plus, didn't the playstation 2 already had an expansion bay at the beginning when it launched? Plus Sony is offering internet service for free instead of charging like Xbox live ain't they?

Everyone is all up in arms about the price of this system and about how Sony ripped off Nintendo so terribly that no one takes a step back to actually look at the machine. Keep in mind that this thing comes with a Blu-Ray player, which will most likely cost as much or more than the PS3 on it's own when it begins to hit store shelves. If Microsoft really wants to compete with the PS3, then they are going to have their HD-DVD periph $200 or less. The price for the PS3 is definitely justified considering how much brand spanking new technology is going in to it. As far as the controller goes, I would have liked to have seen something better from Sony than the same controller that's been around for more than half a decade with a few gimmicks in it. Sure, it's one of the most widely recognized designs in the gaming industry, but sometimes, shit needs to change. This is the next generationg of gaming we're heading in to here. Evolution is a requirement at this stage, and that includes the controllers. I do like the functionality of the gyroscopic sensor. It's something that will definitely add to gameplay in some games, but most definitely not every single one. I belive it would have been better, though, to stick with the critically shunned "boomerang." Sure, it's different. But none of us have ever held it, played a game with it, experienced it frist hand. How can we go around bashing something we've never experienced? I personally plan on owning all 3 of the systems by the end of next year, because each offers a different and exclusive experience; hopefully by the time I get the PS3 the controller will have been redesigned.

Remember how the debut price for the PS1 and the PS2 were above competetive prices?

Anyone see a trend with the PS controllers?

Anyone notice how SPIDERMAN is a Sony production? (Directors rarely ever do title screens)

Anyone realise crime with big hitters often goes unpunished so stealing is most likely advantageos?

Realise how PC game machine replacements are about 3 times as expensive as debut consoles for roughly or close to the same features? (Tell me the graphics in MGS4 and FFXIII have been seen elsewhere. Tell me the Graphics Card isn't {one of} the most important piece{s} for gamers in the whole thing)

Is PS3 selling to the same group as to who the Wii is going after?

Does your opinion really matter?

Is there even a war going on?

Consoles are for gaming and having fun. Whoever thinks they're for other reasons (world domination, see Miyamoto) is retarded. If in 2008 you invite people over to play Sega Genesis thats your choice.
Games are more widely a form of media than the prestine experience most of you reviewers are posing them to be.

If a "rich" friend has a PS3 are you NOT going to play it if he invites you over to play because you are mad that a huge corporation COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF an idea from another huge corporation which probably has ripped off things you may or may never know about?

So here's some advice to the lot of you. Make love, not war. Play. Screw your facts and screw your reasons for doubting consoles. You aren't the ones selling them. Same goes to linux users (losing fanbase, then keep up with microsoft and apple)

DRM? BluRay? Hack in progress? PSP?

Lots a questions?

Review?

It isn't one? Implying via sarcasm on a blog? People realising you don't take literation sarcastincally?

Proper Comment???!?!??!?

Hearsay. But for your entertainment; I'm getting one.

PS. About that one review up above. Poor? Well **** son get some money. Can't get a job? Why the **** not; you stupid? You got useless creditials? Its our fault? No no its SONY's fault right? Life noobs.

News Just in explains why Sony is saying market share is no longer important. Published by the Inquirer a few hours ago. Sony documentation was photographed and confirmed.

PS3 hardware slow and broken
In words and pictures :

AFTER BREAKING THE news to me about PS3 RSX speeds earlier on the flight to Japan, my row-mate said 'if you think that's interesting, wait till you see this. Cell is hurting, badly'.

Cell memory access appears to be broken, RSX has half the triangle setup rate of the ATI chip in XBox360.

I furiously took notes on what the source was saying. He started out saying that the RSX can only write about half as much vertex data as it can fetch, not an ideal situation by any stretch, but survivable.

Then came the horrible news, RSX appears to be limited to setting up 275 Million triangles/second, anemic compared to the 500+ million in XBox360. When asked about this apparent thumping dished out by MS, the reply from one notable ISV relations boffin was a terse 'What a Piece of Junk'. Talk about a steak in the heart.

Half the triangle setup capability in the PS3, could things get worse? Yes, far far worse, how about another disparity of three orders of magnitude? No, I am not joking, looking at Sony's own figures, Cell appears to be pretty badly broken.

For main memory, it looks like Cell has about 25GBps of main memory bandwidth, and RSX is about 15-20GBps. Achievable bandwidth is between about two thirds of that and nearly 100%, clearly the elves in the caves surrounding Rambus central did something right with XDR. That is the happy news.

For local memory, the measured vs theoretical bandwidth is missing, I wonder why? RSX is at a solid 22.4GBps for both read and write, good job there green team. Then comes the blue team with Cell. Local memory write is about 4GBps, 40% of the next slowest bandwidth there. Then comes the bomb from hell, the Cell local memory read bandwidth is a stunning 16MBps, note that is a capital M to connote Mega vs a capital G to connote Giga. This is a three order of magnitude oopsie, and it is an oopsie, as Sony put it "(no, this isn't a typo...)".

If you can write at 250x the read speed, it makes Cell local memory just about useless. That means you do all your work out of main memory, and the whole point of local is, well, pointless. This can lead to contention issues for the main memory bus, and all sorts of nightmarish to debug performance problems. Basically, if this Sony presentation to PS3 devs shown to us is correct, it looks like PS3 will be hobbled in a serious way.

The next slide goes on to say "Don't read from local memory, but write to main memory with RSX(tm) and read it from there instead", and repeats the table numbers. This is very very bad. The number of times the presentation goes on to say that it is correct, and the lack of anything like "this will be fixed by production steppings, so take measures X, Y and Z" say to me that it is not a fixable snafu. Remember at E3 when I said that the PS3 demos there were object sparse? Any guesses why?

Someone screwed up so badly it looks like it will relegate the console to second place behind the 360. All the devs I talked to were lukewarm on the 360 architecture but universally negative on the PS3. Revelations like this go a long way to explain why you keep hearing about simmering problems from the Sony devs.

You end up with a console with half the triangle setup rate of the 360, a crippled CPU that is a bitch to program, and tools that are atrocious compared to the 360. To make matters worse, you have an arrogant set of execs telling us that twice the price is worth it for half the power, a year late. If it isn't already too late, Sony had better do something about this recto-cranial inversion or it may very well sink the console

Not a fan of Sony at all.

PS1 had crap GFX, PS2 looked like utter crud compaired to the Graphics on the PC, XBOX and Gamecube.

What will happen with this one.. Heap of crap I say.. Rip off a key feature from the Nintendo Wii, thats just cruel. I hope they go under.. I dont want to see anouther sony video game system again. My shop will continue selling only XBOX360 and no Sony products.
