The PS3 will be a fine purchase...in 18 months. Until the HD-DVD Blu-Ray war is over and BD drives go down significantly in price, the PS3 will be a HUGE waste of money.

Out of all the consoles released in the last 20 years, this is the one that should stop early adopters the most. Buy a PS3, just do it in the fall of 2007!

To #41:

I get it. I have two business degrees. This thing is, most launch systems are completely sold out in the first day of sales. Then, people sell them on eBay for over a grand and most people get them in this way. No doubt, PS3 will sell out as soon as they can stock the shelves for many reasons (especially that Blu-Ray players will be about $400 more at the time it is released). Then, the price will drop when sales are not keeping up with output. It is a simple business policy.

Well, I am done commenting for now. I must work and all.

due with PS3 is higher cost, then Wii will be little higher we thought but no more than 360, maybe about $300 to $400. Cannot see if it will be under $300 unless the leak of Tony Hawk new game screenshot is finalise ingame looking.

I could see the 250 price being true... but I think if it is that price, it will include 2 controllers. The whole "wii" thing is pushing the multiplayer thing, so having it be multiplayer ready out of the box makes sense to me.

At 40:

No, but hopefully players will get a better sense of what can be done with the controller by actually playing the games rather than a weak press conference. If they really wanted to highlight the controller through the press conference...maybe they should have tweaked and polished a bit more...it certainly hasn't left a good impression. This is why I say that hopefully the game demoes on the floor give a better impression.

Someone Needs to send your suggestions to Nintendo ASAP because that would make Nintendo's system the best of all of them.

I gotta say, I haven't been this excited about an E3 for a long time. I was even excited for the 360, but nothing like this. I haven't been this excited about games since the SNES/Genesis days.

to 52... it is worth while to note that one console that did not sell out at launch was the PSP. Technologically superior (by far) to anything else out there the price tag made it quite difficult to justify. I predict that the PS3 will face similar problems.

to 51... Touche' That's a good point. You could make the argument that the big N uses mario as a vehicle on which to run their innovations (the 3d platformer, the party game, etc) they are certainly relying on old properties far too much.

Well Mario may have been exploited by Nintendo, but face facts. Mario sells. He's an icon and no matter what game his likeness is plastered on, he's a hot ticket. Nintendo will milk this like Square milks it's FF series, EA does all it's sports franchises and so on and so forth. Just because he is the most recognizable character out of a video game, doesn't mean that other IPs are seldom used. Look at Sonic, look at Metal Gear. People like what isn't broken and Mario has a lot of growing to do still.

At #69:

Okay, I am back. Yes, the PSP did not sell out. This is not because it wasn't a great product Nor was it because it didn't have two screen. Nor was it because of the higher price point.

The reason it didn't sell out is because of the poor quality and number of games available at launch. It still suffers from this. Still, the system is considered a success.

Nintendo; well we just figured out yesterday that we were right, Sony tried to steal our innovative controller idea. Well, the joke's on them. Our controller really is shape shifting alloy that becomes whatever the game demands, be it a lightsaber, a flight yoke, a 9mm, any thing at all. Copy that Sony. Oh, and it still has rumble.

It's really amazing the amount of brand loyalty here. I think it's sad that so many of you are already predicting the demise of the 360 or PS3.

I hope all of them sell really well and make billions and billions of dollars. The power of a free market is competition. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo understand this - but it seems like gamers are really failing.

Due to competition Microsoft brought a superior online experience to game consoles. They raised the bar. Nintendo with the Wiimote had raised the bar.

Sony understands this and is only following the natural order of sales.

OVERCOME OBJECTIONS.

The average consumer operates on objections -> "but this has this and that doesn't have this - I wish I had something that had that but didn't have that"

Sony wants to be all things to all people. They may not have the best on line service - they may not have the best motion control - they may not even have the best camera integration - but it will be adequate.

As for the cost - people expect the most robust feature set to have the most cost - even if the sum of the features aren't worth the cost.

I'm not a ps3 fanboy - I'm a gaming fanboy and I want gaming to continue to evolve. I think what each of them are doing is great. I already have a 360 and I will own a Wii. I am not planning to purchase a PS3.

47.2 cents...

These things are always delayed, I went to the GDC a month ago and the keynotes they were delayed 20-30 mins, easily. If you ever attended one you would know why; line stretch forever and you have to wait for everyone to grab a seat.
