Halo 3 trailer: See it again for the first time
Here's the Halo 3 trailer again, embedded for your puny viewing pleasure. If you want more pixels and have no luck with XBLM, try Xboxyde's 720p torrent or Bungie's large Quicktime version. Oh yeah, Bungie reminds the world this baby is real time with an appropriately sarcastic announcement:
Nobody saw it coming. Halo 3! Who knew? For the last year or two, people have speculated about what our next project was and surprisingly, in all that time, not a single person guessed that it would be Halo 3. Not one.
We declare it the best kept secret ever.
...We won't ruin the content of our short presentation by describing it frame by frame, but we will note that everything you're seeing here is being rendered in real-time on the Xbox 360, using the current version of our Halo 3 game engine. The HDR lighting, self-shadowing, GPU-run particle system and many other effects should make it intact (and more) to our final game.Worth repeat viewing.

That's IT?
Oh well. After seeing Red Steele, no console FPS will ever play right for me, unless you can hook up a keyboard and a mouse to the console without an itch.
Also, just for the record, let's see how many MS fanboys complain about "This is only cinematics! It means nothing without AI and gameplay! Anyone can do that!". Or in fact, they most likely won't, they'll be as happy as MGS fans are when MGS fans watch the 15min MGS4 trailer. As it should be, bitching and fanboyism should end so we can finally enjoy these videos.

Really not the best trailer. Not to mention, after the huge disappointment that was Halo 2, I couldn't really care less about another in the series.
blah @ May 9th 2006 9:00PM
yay, the assult rifle is back!
Danno @ May 9th 2006 9:00PM
Halo is drama.
MGS is melodrama.
Pick your poison.
PS: This YouTube video is bad and you should feel bad.
Rawnblade @ May 9th 2006 9:03PM
All in all not a bad little teaser, and it really should not be taken as much more than that. It is just an honest little flag going up saying "stay tuned for next year!"
I've gotten goose bumps twice when the "Finish the Fight" message popped up in fullscreen.. The anticipation I had for Halo 2 must be sparking again. Hell, I may even buy a 360 for it =D
Here's to things to come.

Kazi @ May 9th 2006 9:11PM
The youtube video hardly does it justice. Should have just linked to the large quicktime trailer.
I seriously can't get enough of this trailer, so awesome. I want it.
Joe @ May 9th 2006 9:12PM
Um... was I supposed to be impressed?
All Bungie has to do is release H1 with online and I'm set... but no more new stuff.
Anyway, I can see GearsOfWar eclipsing this...
RocketSeason @ May 9th 2006 9:12PM
Very Epic. This is what I like to see in SciFi.
nab @ May 9th 2006 9:19PM
Booooring
MegaWatts @ May 9th 2006 9:25PM
#10 your a TROLL! And your a boring troll at that.
ethan @ May 9th 2006 9:27PM
wow... looks shitty, That whole where the world ends thingy means this is the last in the series, right, because i cant stand another one of these.
ZaBlanc @ May 9th 2006 9:37PM
As a Nintendo fanboy, and longtime Sony hater, I can safely say that E3 has left me with the feeling that Sony has so given the FU to its loyal followers with its ridiculous pricetag for its PS3 that it actually compels me to get an XBox 360.
After I get my Wii of course.
I'll definitely look for a Halo warchest, cause I've never seen nor played Halo. But, still, FU to Sony for your $600 monstrocity with no vibration in the controller. Honestly.
Why would I pay for that when I can get great graphcis and sound from a much cheaper system. Gosh, remember when $400 seemed so damn expensive?
Lagomorpho @ May 9th 2006 9:58PM
Gross. You guys link the youtube version when you can just grab the HD version off the Bungie site?

Also, a torrent:

Everything looks pretty damn amazing.
Lagomorpho @ May 9th 2006 10:00PM
Oops. Sorry, Im a jerk.
cam @ May 9th 2006 10:15PM
could this be the last halo
Lagomorpho @ May 9th 2006 10:23PM
cam, Bungie says this is the last in the Halo Trilogy.
Question for everyone: Are those the skeletons of fallen Halo rings behind Master Chief off in the distance? I say yes.
andyc @ May 9th 2006 10:33PM
Though they look like miniature halo rings, I actually think
its the bridge from Mombasa?
Phil @ May 9th 2006 10:40PM
HOLY CRA* AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED THE SHEER AWESOMENESS OF THIS THING???????????????? WOW
drsilverworm @ May 9th 2006 10:41PM
halo was a f--king planet... way too small to be the skeletons of the fallen rings.. besides, wouldn't they have burned far more when entering the atmosphere, and disintegrated when they landed? they wouldnt be so perfect
Lagomorpho @ May 10th 2006 12:22AM
drsilverworm: so it's big as a planet but fragile as a pretty pretty flower? I'm certain it would survive re-entry and we've seen that there are variable sizes of Halo rings. Also that the rings are huge but smaller than a planet since it's shown floating by some planets in space.
I think a more compelling argument about why they're not Halo rings is because there are 3 or 4 of them, but I still think it's possible.
hoos30 @ May 10th 2006 12:38AM
I think Andyc has it right: wreckage from the bridge into the city of New Mombasa.
Moogle @ May 10th 2006 1:22AM
I watched it twice, but I still couldn't make sense of the dialog. Kinda 4th wall breaky, no one speaks in that manner other than to an audience.
Nothing even remotely gameplay, just trying really hard to seem grandiose.
Tell me when the speedrun's out so I can skim the story.
jo @ May 10th 2006 3:08AM
this is in real time, most impressive graphics I have seen.
analog33 @ May 10th 2006 4:16AM
master chief standing, planes flying, something opening... Yawn
Lemster @ May 12th 2006 6:26AM
Being a sad media techy... there are a few bits buried in here which seem to suggest that Cortana is, erm, no longer holographic... she's in a room for starters, no moving patterns on her, she opens here eyes like she's coming to life... and there is someone else in there with her.
But then you have to be bored enough at work to click through frame by frame to notice them.
