Nintendo's Wii event pre-game coverage!
11:25 am - The crowd's obviously getting a little anxious. We're just a few of minutes away now.
11:29 am - We're shuffling in now, about to find our seats. Stay tuned as we get prepped and ready to liveblog.
11:47 am - We're in, standing in holding. They've admitted us to the theater but they're not yet seating. More to come.
12:05 pm - Still waiting ... no word yet when the delays will end and we can get seated but they have some video feeds in the hall and it looks like it shouldn't be long. Looks like Microsoft is going to have delays of their own, being that almost all of the press here is going to head over.

But still, E3 during finals week- bad timing for us.

Come on Nintendo, hurry up! I wanna see everything you have to offer..
Man, I've been waiting since 9:30GMT for this..damn you, timezones.
Sean Dugan @ May 9th 2006 12:06PM
I've been working with Sony on the developement of the PS3 for 3 years and we've been using prototypes of the tilt controller for about 18 months. Nintendo used corporate espionage to rip off our killer idea! I can't beleive they are getting away with this...
Tirol @ May 9th 2006 12:07PM
Samson120,
LOL, classic!
Robert P. @ May 9th 2006 12:07PM
I am just glad this conference is taking place well before my final this evening otherwise I would be so screwed. Kinda hoping they Reggie makes a sly mention of Sony getting on the motion band wagon (by the way, didn't they say that was a gimmick and that they were "above that sorta thing?"). I have a feeling it's going to be a MS/Nintendo marketplace based on the negative comments I've been noticing from PS owners and lovers themselves. I kinda feel bad for them but then again I felt bad for the President on 24 last night and after what happened I'm never feeling bad for him again.
jaemz @ May 9th 2006 12:08PM
nintendo video finally came up on gamespot.com... we are getting close
ejflex @ May 9th 2006 12:08PM
22. YEAH OK Buddy. hahahaa You have to be kidding me. Sony has ripped off every controller interface idea that Nintendo has come with. Nice try.
Andrew @ May 9th 2006 12:08PM
OMG i cant wait im not going to school because of this
Jobo @ May 9th 2006 12:08PM
What ever the Wii-wagon says, Sony can rip it in no time. So common Wii-sters, spill out your final secrets. You will just be making the PS3 stronger. We already got your motion sensitivy, yet you can never take our power. The Wii-wagon is like a free research and development team for the PS3. So give us your last secrets before we crush you. HA HA HA!
ejflex @ May 9th 2006 12:09PM
whoops I meant #23.. my bad.
Gabriel Asseily @ May 9th 2006 12:09PM
ARGGGGGGGH!!! The gamespot video feed is loading. Nooo, it changed picture and then back to their placeholder. ARGGhh.
I can't hold it anymore, I want to wiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!
Start the conference me watching and reading. And yeah break out the lawyers live blogging :-)
PorpoiseMuffins @ May 9th 2006 12:11PM
Umm... I thought that the event didn't begin until 12:30 EST. There's no delay at all. We still have 20 minutes.
ejflex @ May 9th 2006 12:11PM
Jobo.. wow you are clueless. AGAIN... the PS3's dual "shake" is an ARCHAIC version of what NIntendo is using. It is essentally the same as the Wiimotes nunchuck attachment. It is PALE in comparisson. So suck on that. Not to mention it has no rumble. not to mention your computer.. I mean console costs 600 dollars. Stop trying to make yourself feel better.. you seem retarded.
Jon C @ May 9th 2006 12:12PM
I believe any delays to be intentional in order to spoil Microsoft party.
WedgeTalon @ May 9th 2006 12:12PM
According to both Nintendo.com and Gamespot, it's suppoesd to start at *9:30* PST, not 9. So it's still on schedule, thus far.
minus_273 @ May 9th 2006 12:13PM
prediction: : wii is 199
bradtwitty @ May 9th 2006 12:13PM
If you are using IE 7 Beta 2, ditch it, Gamespot video a no go with IE 7 Beta 2.
Gabriel Asseily @ May 9th 2006 12:14PM
Wedge Talon is right. The original schedule was set to 930pst. Gamespot and Joystiq must have been misled. Curses!
As for the flame wars can we get these later please? Some of us want to know what is happening! Oi bloggers, BLOG PLEASE :0)
Gabriel Asseily @ May 9th 2006 12:16PM
Using IE7 beta 2 it works fine. You got to allow the popups. It for some reason blocks all popups. Hold Ctrl whilst clicking the link and it bypasses the antipopup #36
jayntampa @ May 9th 2006 12:20PM
I wiill worship Wii if it's $199 ... a lot of people will buy it at that price -- but, my guess is $249-299.
ds3 @ May 9th 2006 12:22PM
i cant wait im a sony and nintendo fanboy and this week i just might piss myself a few times o welll lol
death to m$
Jobo @ May 9th 2006 12:28PM
EJFLEX ? The Wii now has got NOTHING to offer! The PS3 motion sensitive controller is WAY better then the Wii-mote. The PS3 controller has a proven bad-ass design. The Wii wand looks sissy. Ha, Ha! We took your ONLY innovation, and now we?ll take more, and more. That?s the problem with selling innovation, it can be copied so easily. PS3 speed, power technology on the other hand ? you will never have. Never! Looser.
eidolons @ May 9th 2006 12:28PM
Price is kind of important but I really want to see some live gameplay of Zelda for example, or how they do sports titles, like that Tennis game featured in the Time article. Based on the screenshot in that article, btw, looks like Nintendo is really going for a simple, clean retro look to at least some of their in-house games. Remember Nintendo Hockey, Tennis, etc? I hope they do the same "generic" Nintendo in-house games again. Oh, sweet memories. Keep it simple, focus on gameplay!
Gabriel Asseily @ May 9th 2006 12:31PM
Hey Jobo learn to spell!

Sony have noticed the pressure and have to copy others... Sony are loosers!
strat_ax @ May 9th 2006 12:57PM
Err...I think that's what happened. Others have the live coverage right now.
Jobo @ May 9th 2006 1:42PM
Post Wii Press Conference... Ouch! As a now former PS3 fan, my tail is between my legs and I have just Wii-ed on myself. I swallow my pride and freely admit that Nintendo?s Wii is AMAZING! I thought once PS3 stole Wii?s big advantage (motion control), PS3 had won. I now realize that PS3 can?t just copy elements of Wii at the last minute because there isn?t time to integrate them properly. Now, I look forward to using my $600 PS3 money to buy a Wii and ALL the games!
