Sam & Max to debut this fall on GameTap [update 1]

An official website has launched for the title, and an official video will debut on the site Thursday. This is big news for GameTap, but we don't know of any plans to distribute the game via conventional means -- will only GameTap players be able to get their Sam & Max fix? Say it ain't so!
[update 1: not exclusive to GameTap]

This has been an awesome week. E3, fun speeches to read, the new WoW race (and it looks like they can be Pallies! w00t!), and now Sam & Max. And E3 hasn't even officially started
Thanks for the great coverage Joystiq. Go Sam & Max! The GameTap thing is a little strange though

WHAT?! NOOO!
I have to buy the Gametap service just to play me some Sam and Max?!

I actually subscribe to GameTap and play at my girlfriend's house because there a quite a few games on the service she likes to both play and watch me play. Sam & Max is one of my favorite games of all time so this announcement is golden.

It is stated on the website that TellTale games will also host the games.
"Nope! We think GameTap is a great fit for Sam & Max, but we know that not everyone will subscribe. (Plus, right now GameTap isn't available in all parts of the world.) That's why every Sam & Max episode will be available on Telltale's website, as well as on GameTap."

If you would have bothered to look on the Sam & Max section of the Telltale Games web site, you would have noticed this in the FAQ section:
Will I need a GameTap Subscription to Play Sam & Max?

Thank you, LK (#5). I was about to get angry that I'd have to subscribe to yet another monthly service. Long live Sam & Max!

I feel an odd sense of foreboding.

I bloody love sam & max. gametap? ewwww!!!

Considering gametap is only $10 US /month, and it probably wouldn't take any longer than that for anyone to go through this game, that sounds like pretty darn good deal if you just want to get it for a month for Sam & Max (and they have a free 2-week trial period, too).
At the same time, it's good to know that it will be available through other channels.

And it will be quite cheaper than 13$/episode...
