Wait, so will this be kind of like the special stages back in Sonic 2, where you're always running on a track?

Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I wish they would do an old school 2d Sonic with 3d graphics like New SMB. That would be a killer app.

Seriously, SEGA has been working overtime this year. Glad to see that they're still play a huge role in gaming. Go Sonic!

I think it's funny that people bash Nintendo for reusing the same characters over and over again, and yet Sega does it year after year.

The difference between their methodology is that Nintendo uses it to bring familiarity to their game titles and provides a unique environment for the characters. The 'mario' line of characters are versitile enough to fit into all of these various game generes and it works fantastically in most situations.

Sega? They bastardize every game with Sonic in it and use their familiar character branding to shovel piles or crap down consumer's throats. Shame on you, Sega... shame.

All this hype over motion sensors for this? Not to say its not going to be fun but that game sounds like it could easily be an Eyetoy game. Maybe Microsoft will just make all the games that use the Motion sensors video camera compatible so moving your head and hands simulate the same things since most of what Nintendo is touting seems to be in that area of gaming.

Is this sidescrolling? I'm hoping this has a similar feel to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which itself captued a bit of the feel of old-school Sonic games.

Sega releases lots of games that don't have Sonic. Probably more titles with new characters than Nintendo, though Nintendo also releases plenty of non-Mario/Zelda/Metroid games.

And, c'mon now, we all know that famous characters sell games... Who cares.

Sounds to me like the PS3 controller will be able to mimic these types of controls no problem. I am a little pissed at no rumble tho...

I suggest from now on to rent Sonic games before you buy 'em. Shadow and Heroes lost quite a lot of brownie points. I am still looking foward for this. Hopefully the Wii will have demo downloads =D

Um.

I really hope this doesn't turn out to be some kind of tech-demoish, PacPix-ish game. It kind of sounds like it. I don't know, maybe I'm worried for nothing.

it looks kind of weird. i don't like how Sega has been coming up with all these weird story lines for Sonic. Sonic Riders was fun, but i hated the plot.

From the videos I've seen of this I don't understand 1 thing: Is it how far you move the controller that makes sonic change directions, the speed at which you do so, or just the direction in which you do so. I have a feeling this could lead to quite some interesting problems with this kind of controller for a Sonic game.

In the past it was how fast you moved your controller in a direct to make sonic do something.

The underlying problem with the SA games AND Sonic Heroes was the fact that sonic never seemed to be able to achieve great speed in the world area. It was always something mario-ish.

A sonic game on the Wii will do fine cause its sonic and wii. Half of you wouldn't use what i said as a reason not to get the game so don't I can expect it will do great for a sonic game on the Wii. 1 might think that sonic games look a LITTLE bit out of place on these futuristic consoles. I just think on anything Nintendo. Anyway...

Its working title with a working title (I love how Sega can churn out shit so fast. LOOK AT THE WORLD. Extensive to say the least)...

...so there's still space for improvement. But sidecrolling is fun because you move in all dimensions on that plane. (with 1 main plane of direction for the win).

These 3D generation sonic games have foraward scrolling where everything comes at you and you navigate Sonic through that vector. PSP and Sonic Rivals made a good attempt at making perfected Sonic gameplay but the Sonic on PS3 (and Xbox360 :)
look like a defintion of speed that will wow a fan of the older ones.

#5 people bash people for every reason possible. Now you're bashing sega and using nintendo bashers as an excuse.

Sure Sonic is regurge and so is Mario. But you can't call it crap. Seriously. You can't call any of the games from both lines crap. You can put sonic characters in marios universe and vice versa and you WONT have crap. You could put any FAMOUS character in those places and u wont have crap. No one wants to play the adventures of Joe in a sonic universe. It just doesn't fly. Sonic the hedgehog was pushed by Sega along with attitude speed and fun. With that they created a worthy character and a worthy mascot. Same for nintendo. Anyone who bashes either for that is just skeptic of what are great games in their own right. Where are the basher bashers though?
