This will make a nice edition to the Xbox 360. I think both systems are well worth having. Nintendo is a little too kiddie gold-coin grabbing for me, but I like what I see so far.
I'd really like it if they made an M4 assault rifle replica instead of that STTNG thing.
So do this thing work on a plasma? Because I haven't gotten any light guns work on a plasma. Hopefully it doesn't use light.

"I'm not sure what #27 is complaining about with the GUNCON, I have a couple with time crisis and point blank and they have always worked."
Yeah same here - no problems at all with the Guncon. Of course, no light gun works with an LCD or plasma screen... but this one will. That's a little factoid that sometimes gets lost in discussions like these. Nintendo hasn't built-in HD resolutions but they have built in the capability for all their controllers and peripherals (including light guns!) to work with all HD displays - something even Sony and MS have not. Not that Sony or MS have even bothered announcing a light gun.
I think this sort of thing from Nintendo is actually pretty awesome, because it's just a little piece of plastic that totally changes what the existing controller is. The possibilities for this sort of thing are endless, and the great thing is, these "shells" will be so cheap to produce that they theoretically should cost almost nothing and could be bundled in with any game that could benefit from them. Imagine if every racing game came with its own custom "wheel" for free. Or, maybe Nintendo will sell it separately - for about 10 bucks (which would still probably be about a 1,000% markup). We can hope, anyway.

Cool, I know what this accessory was made for... GUMSHOE!!! Seriously, it's like the only NES game Nintendo never acknowledges. :)
Anyhow, it would also be tres cool if this modern Zapper could be made compatible with the "Virtual Console" to play classic NES Zapper games. Very unlikely to actually happen, but it would be cool.

Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman Wii style would be cool. I don't remember any decent games for the Super Scope though. If Sega makes some shooting games for Wii, that would be glorious.

One-handed FPS was the first thing that came to mind for me, too. This thing, if good enough, could replace the nunchuck as far as FPSs are controlled.

#37, elle: "This is for Red Steel and Metroid Prime, not Duck Hunt."
#43, Seraph Wing: "hey, about that dual wiimote for the drumsticks. couldn't the same experience be recreated with the wiimote and nunchaku? Or is it 2 separate wiimotes to allow for increased mobility? Or does the nunchaku not work in the same manner as the wiimote?"
nope, Red Steel definitely uses the nunchuk, and I believe Metroid prime does too. the reason for this is because the remote has full motion sensing, while the nunchuck only has an accelerometer. So in the case of Red Steel, you can use the remote to swing a sword in any direction, and to open doors you either turn the nunchuck as if you were turning a door or push forward quickly to knock the door in. Were the zapper shell to take the place of the nunchuck, there would be no way to do the two seperate movements required.

Reminds me of Duck Hunt! Why haven't games like that been coming out? That game was on the oldest home video game system! These game programmers need to get their act together!

I'm thinking this will work the same as the nunchuck attachment, and probably be transparent to the game so that you can potentially use it for any game. Hells yeah!

Has anyone noticed that reggie at e3 2006 mentioned right and left brain again?
I still firmly believe VR headset is comming to wii.
The Nintendo On was a marketing ploy from my view.
noticed that video had no wiimote or nunchucku? well i believe that was to see ppls responds to VR since the day of virtual boy.
Also remember a year or so ago at one of nintendo's conference reggie mentioned the right and left brain and for one of them to be creative, isnt that exactly whats proposed on nintendo On?
you maybe thinking that hey some guy made this video not nintendo, but how do you know nintendo didnt set this up? remember the video was traced to come from the nintendo america area.
Have you all noticed that nintendo has given us everything VR except VR display?
How would you you play tennis realistically if you cant be in the characters shoes?
Anyone noticed that there is no camera stick of buttons on the wiimote?
Well VR headsets tracking motion does the same job and dont forgot nintendo have purchased imagine Z800 VR stereoscopic goggles.
Im not even sure if the wii console is the actuall console, may even still be the virtual console.
Also watch out for links with apple and nintendo, maybe the ipod is the Wii harddrive, therefore nintendo arent paying for hardrive to raise console price.
ppl this is nintendo, im not saying all this to cause chaos, just an opinion.
Take care all and keep watching E3 live

for ppl who are complaining about this being an add-on and more add-ons are coming, that is probly true, but probly not required...besides, it wouldnt be new for a gun, or wheel add-on, the add-on thing has been around since before PS1 was even friggin mentioned, or even thought of.... so, im just sayin..."So wut?"

Some people say, this is just a useless piece of plastic, I say this looks like a very cheap and cool way to hold both controllers (wiimote and nunchuck) with one hand to play FPS games. I do hope that the console will have two controllers. And about the price of the controllers, do I have to remind you that even if the controllers costs $60 buying 2 or 3 more ($120 or $180) plus the console ($200 estimated) it would still be less than the $499 or $599 that the PS3 with just one loosy controller will cost.

*sigh* The zapper is NOT a lightgun, the wiimote works off of signals sent back and forth via the sensor you sit above the television, enabling a 3d space motion sensor.
Lightguns work off of light being reflected back at the television from the gun and back. IT IS NOT A LIGHTGUN.
It's quite obvious this thing is a shell that will connect to the wiimote and just extend the button presses via wires into the zapper. Personally I think this thing is going to kick major arse in FPS's. Especially with the analogue stick above the handle.

what are all u people who don't like the peripherals nintendo's showing whining about? do u not remember when they first showed the wiimote, (back then it was still the revmote though) nintendo said they would be releasing NUMEROUS peripherals for the remote, and the nunchuck was just one of them...am i the only person who remembers this? cuz i keep lookin for someone to say something about that, and no one does...but still, they said NUMEROUS and i like that, so that way u can change the functionality if u want, but u don't have to, unless a certain game demands it...so quit whining, i like the gun...

I think what would be awesom is if they have the attatchment area for the Wiimote on the handle, which would allow your middle, ring, and pinkie fingers to hit buttons on the Wiimote and would help take a lot of weight off the front of the gun.
Although, in that case, the remote signal would be pointing upward, which would make it hard to connect to the Wii system; and the connection port (on the bottom of the Wiimote that also connects to the Nunchuck controller) would be sticking out the bottom of the handle, which means they'd have to have some sort of wire connecting it, which is rather unhandy.

Duck Hunt sequel? Screw that. I'd rather see a Ghost Squad port--the two triggers would be perfect for such a game.
