What I do not understand is that Syphon Filter has set a precedent for all games that would have required two analogue sticks to play with but that can be played with one.

It's a brilliant control layout scheme that works well on portable as well where the intense action can get too much.

Why don't companies just use Syphon Filter's control layout. Unless you want another analogue disc via USB there is no other method that is better. Others have all tried, tested and failed.

The PSP isn't designed for FPS games.

If you are on the go and you need your FPS fix, pick up Metroid and a DS Lite. It satisfies like a PC.

"best fps control scheme == metroid prime: hunters"

I beg to differ, but this is only my own personal opinion.

1, I did not like the fact that the touchscreen being in the middle you would have to raise your hand into an awkward position. So you kinda lose grip of the system.

2, The Using the touch screen for changing view is like using a touch pad for playing FPSes and oh my god that was awful. I mean credit to Nintendo for giving a viable system of playing a FPS on the move but a touch pad/small touch screen is not my favourite method personally. I would have personally prefered another analogue disc to control the viewing as in my opinion again you get more control.

Anyway apart from those nuisances Metroid Prime Hunter's would easily be the best FPS on a handheld to date because average games like Coded Arms and complete utter shit like Ghost In The Shell could not give a good enough control lay out primarily.

And for the main reason, because Syphon Filter is not a FPS, it just controls like one. (Zooming into FPS mode with a sniper rifle (and etc.) does not count)

The PSP can easily hold a decent FPS, the problem is the developers not the console.

An off-point comment: It's a learning "curve," not "curb."
