White PSP in Europe next week
While everyone's still reeling from the PS3 price announcement, UK gamers who want some shiny new Sony hardware before the PS3 launches are in luck. Sony has announced that the Ceramic White PSP will finally be released in Europe next Monday (May 15), with an expected retail price of £179.99 in the UK (€249).As of June there will also be a range of Platinum UMDs, with titles like Everybody's Golf available for £19.99 (€24.99). As if that's not enough, a range of Lonely Planet-produced city guides, to be called Planet PSP, will arrive this autumn; also, in the near future we'll see PlayStation Spot appearing in Europe.

I hope their new multimillion dollar contract with Nvidia yeilds a sweet graphics processor for a PSP2.
Because they are going to need a better than crap handheld to fend off Microsoft's upcoming handheld.
And since their rediculously out of line console is going to get pwned this generation, they are going to need to fall back on the handheld market...if they have to fall back on PSP Sony is bankrupt.

The white PSP is already available in Australia, as of the 4th of May.

I'm enjoying mine, actually. Daxter and Burnout have kept me quite involved. There's nothing wrong with the system, really. I just feel that the developers just aren't trying.

It's funny how Sony STILL don't get high prices=less impact. If they wanted to destroy the DS they need to start with a lower price point and introduce some killer games.
So i'll yawn this one out.

*he pounds his fists on the desk in rythym with the chant:*
DS Lite. DS Lite. DS Lite. DS Lite...
Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...!
phipscube @ May 10th 2006 9:34AM
Nice, it will probably appeal better to the females though. A bit like all the DS lite owners. Bunch of whining girls.
If you dont like your PSP (that imaginary one you pretend to hate), stop advertising the fact and sell it to somebody who will appreciate it. We've all heared enough.
Kamalot @ May 10th 2006 9:35AM
Funny, the white PSP does not make the games load faster and does not make them more fun, the two biggest problems with PSP games.
It also does not make the screen brighter than the DS Lite screen...

I'm quite tired of the same old drivel from fanboys and the fictional PSP's they pretend to own but igonore. The PSP has actually picked up steam in the gaming department. Alot of good games have come out the in the past few months, and some good ones are comming in the very near future.
The truth is, the fact that the psp is so close to the ps2 in powere, that developers are lazy to make unique content, and just port stuff for a quick buck. That trend is beginning to change as developers put in more effort. Tekken Dark Ressurection looks to be awesome, Killzone and the new Metal Gear Solid are also good. Some good past games like Megaman Powered up, Daxter, and GTA:lcs are all hallmark titles.
The device isnt all that bad. I think sony needs to be less conservative with price strategy, especially when you are the challenger and not the champ. If they aggressively cut prices on the thing, I think tons more people would own one, (developers would begin to show a more active interest)the games and community would truly begin to rival the ds in quality.

the psp is a very stunning device, and looks even more sexier in that white. problem is, its boring. when i had mine i spent most of my time watching lost at work on it.
i saw the japanease were gettin white ones, so i sold it so i could get a white one but ended up not buying it. do i regret it? no way.
does my friend that bought it from me regret buying it? yes
in a non-fanboy way, its all about the ds. it offers something different and new. and the ds lite, just as stunning as the white psp
when the psp hits 99 here, ill pick one up. by then it will have loads of games
