the Disaster video clip on the Nintendo montage looked like that one scene from The Day After Tomorrow.
I'm excited about Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. looks promising.

The disaster game sounds promising. The sports game could be cool too - did I read that this game comes with the system?

Should be interesting to find out how much room you need between players to keep from smacking into each other.

Sports game is the one people were bemoaning due to the graphics but not understanding it's the art style. The games are meant to show the wii off and be attractive to nongamers. It's perfect advertising invite a bunch of nongamers over show them how the controller works with those games.

I worry that they might be going a bit TOO simple with the sports games.

I was personally hoping for a Virtua Tennis or Top Spin sort of thing, but with the motion controller.

Also, Batting is fun, but why not pitching and fielding as well? Couldn't the remote handle those sorts of motions too?

Nevermind, didn't read the bit about 2 player mode for Baseball.

I still hope that there are expanded modes where you get to play the whole game.

I think I am more excited about Excite Truck than any other game at E3. I mean, Excite Bike was so awesome; I still play it constantly via emulator. Plus, I think the game I play most often right now is funky truck 4wd (available at http://www.mousebreaker.com/games/funkytruck4wd/play.php)
Combine the two and you may have the best game of all time.

Day of Disaster looks frikken great.. I've been waiting awhile for a game like this, ever since SOS on the Snes.

Also 'idioteraser' is spot on the money. I'm hoping they do bundle WiiSports with the system.

yes the wiimote can handle pitching and catching. They showed off some gameplay. Striking a bat is what really shows it off in a dramatic way that you are actually playing baseball.

Yeah I think WiiSports is meant to come with the system, mostly as a way to get people playing together with the remote in a simple way right away, no matter what other games they happen to purchase when they get the system.

Wii Sports Sounds like a great idea but it seems half assed. Why only Home run derby and why not at least one full golf corse?

Disaster sounds like it might be cool, but isn't there any word about what the actual gameplay will be like? Did I miss anything?

The sports games sound freaking FUN! It reminds me of the 3-in-1 game Nintendo released for the NES (Duck Hunt, Track and Field, SMB).

Oh, and I think I get the logic behind Excite Truck (except the name, it should be one word Excitetruck), they realized that type of gameplay worked with motorcycles back in 2D, but in 3D they get too complex in terms of getting a perfect landing and balancing, but for some reason, a truck in 3D works similarly to a motorcycle in 2D, I'm not sure how to explain it further than that, it just does.

Offroad racing in huge friggin trucks that are not designed to be offroaded or raced in is the best idea ever. I am more excited about Excite Truck than any other game previewed at E3, and I detest racing games.

Project H.A.M.M.E.R. sounds so utterly ridiculous that I already know that I've GOT to try it. Gotta love hitting stuff with a hammer?

I never would've guess that Disaster was first party if I hadn't a heard it straight from the horse's mouth. I'm usually not much of a survival-genre person, but I'll be checking it out anyway, just to see what the Big N does with it. Verrry interesting...

How is Disaster considered a First party title. It's being published by Nintendo, but it's being made by monolith, who holds no other allegance to Nintendo... Considering they had a 360 launch game... Isn't that 2nd party?

1st party means made by a company owned by the company. 2nd party means published by the company but made by someone not affiliated with them..

Why is the U.S the main featured setting in these games?

Not hating on you guys but I like playing a variety of locals. You know saving Brazil from aliens, racing in Australia, stopping terrorists from taking over Ghana, natural disasters in Spain etc

Anyone agree, or are you all happy saving the U.S time after time?

@16: It's because they clearly want to destroy the US. XD First, a wave of natural disasters. Next, a bunch of killer robots. Mmmmm...delicious destruction.

I really don't mind them being set in the US, as long as the game is awesome fun.

If the sports games are representative of what Wii gameplay will be, its way too simplistic, even for nongamers. The game automatically lines you up for the shot in tennis? Why dont they just allow you to use the nunchuck directional stick to move the character. Home run derby in baseball? They could be using the nunchuck or the D-pad to at least allow the player to choose which baseman to throw the ball to.

You see a breif few seconds. Tell me is that enough to learn all the gameplay modes and mechanics in a game?

Stop whining!!!

And no it isn't simple you saw a guy miss and the girl hit the bat by lining it up more perfectly.

Reason people were standing up is because they had a lot of fun and it feels more natural to play standing up for tennis and baseball or even conducting.

@15: I believe it means that Nintendo owns the properties to the characters and the franchise as a whole, but Monolith is actually making the game for them. Just like StarFox: Armada was made by NAMCO, even though the StarFox franchise is owned by Nintendo. Monolith doesn't have any restriction to Nintendo, but the game does, basically.

Nintendo simply said that Wii Sports will be available on launch day. However, I think it should come with the system. Ideally, Nintendo should package the Wii, power cord, A/V cord, two remotes with nunchucks, and Wii Sports. Put all that in a $200 package, and you've got a big seller in my opinion.

"Anyone agree, or are you all happy saving the U.S time after time?"

I personally think it would be great for more games to be in locations other than the US. I live in the US and I see our uncultured, blah buildings with no real history everyday - to be able to escape to locations around the globe that I could never afford to go to in real life would be awesome. Admittedly, there are many games that are located in other countries, but these usually seem to be based on the past (prince of persia, samurai games, etc...) Locations I would like to play in (other than US):

Paris
London
Germany
Japan
China
Korea
Australia (outback would be cool)

There are some games that offer some of these locals set in present day (the getaway, ninja gaiden, dreamfall - i think).

Ah, yes - use the nunchuku to direct the stream of the golden shower. :-)

Why is every game set in the US? Aside from the Hollywood glamourizing factor, everybody loves to watch us get blown up. But nobody loves to see America in ruins more than...Americans. (That's messed up.)

Boy, WiiSports looks so enticing. The Tennis aspect is what really intrigues me. My family and I play tennis and I'm definately curious as to how accurate the results are. For example: If in real life, your hit would have an unusual spin, how accurate would it be on the Wii? How about overheads or volleys?

Anyway, I also can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Twilight Princess.
