@ 36:

"And hey, if the Wii eventually boasts an exhaustive list of past Nintendo games from its past systems, then it may continue to sell for 10 years after the real next-gen systems are gone, which would eventually net Nintendo a profit from their final console."

Did you know Nintendo makes profit with every Wii it's going to sell? It's not like PS3 and X360 in that way which sell with huge losses and hope some day to get them back.

Anyway, it's okay that you have your own opinion about Wii and it's controller. Actually many people (of gamers) do as they either love it or hate it, but almost no one says "meh, it's okay, I don't care". Still I'd suggest you and all of those who mock it to TRY THE CONTROLLER IN SOME GAMES before giving any final sentences about how crappy it is. At least people who have tried different games haven't said many bad words about it.

All in all, give it a chance, you might get surprised. And if you don't like even then, don't buy it. Simple as that.

And what comes to Nintendo leaving console business... No way, just no way. I'd say MS leaves console business sooner than Nintendo does. Why? Profit. Nintendo makes continuous profit with handhelds AND home consoles, and Mario, Zelda, Metroid and other Nintendo stars are gonna keep it going for a long time even if all the 3rd party support leaves them like in GC times. Yet, if the Wii becomes a huge catastrophe to Nintendo after all and they leave console business for good, I'd still respect them for at least trying to bring something new into the whole console gaming concept.

No, I'm not a blind fanboy even if seems so. I'm just glad someone tries to do something new. X360 for HD and power, Wii for games and controller. Those are my choices for the next-gen console gaming. Everyone of you, dear readers, have the power to vote with your wallets. If you don't like Nintendo's "fu*k graphics & power, let's try something new & different" strategy, just don't buy it.

Peace. ^^

I hope they fix whatever's at issue with Red Steel, as that's one of the titles I'm anticipating. The sword fighting did seem kind of scripted, and they seemed to downplay it compared to the gunplay, but let's hope they even things about a bit.

For those thinking Red Steel graphics suck get the damn IGN trailer ubisoft providied.

Also note those were prototype controllers. They aren't production models those are demos meant for E3 as well.

Unlike Sony which fakes stuff out of their ass for E3 and spends more effort on three minutes of footage then an entire game Nintendo makes their games look far better and play far better then the E3 demos.

Those aren't on final dev kits they are early builds meant to be thrown in the trash after E3.

God how many stupid people are there in the world who do not understand what E3 demos are about?

Does not a single one of you know anything about what happens to a game from between it's showing to release?

It undergoes major changes.

Wii sports is meant to have simplistic graphics since nongamers get scared of the corpse Tiger Woods EA has for the 360 and PS3 with his nonanimated shirts. Yes the same game looks the same on the PS3 and 360. PS3 isn't more powerfull then the 360 the 360 is just a souped xbox and the gamecube it should be noted produced most of the graphically impressive games of last gen.

All you have seen at E3 are early builds the graphics chip isn't finalized yet.

Nothing that sony or microsoft has shown has made me excited about the graphics.

HD has been around since 1965 no one with a brain is impressed with it since they have Super High Def in Japan as of this moment.

"Comparable to N64 graphics..."

I'm starting to wonder when the last time some of you people have looked at the output of these systems, from these systems (PS1, N64) on actual TVs (and not perhaps an emu that recompiles/remaps to OpenGL/DirectX/Whatever)

Yup Kai there seems to be a severe strain of wiitardism among the wii haters.

No one has ever done a console swordfighting game using a controller that actually mimics a sword.

Swordfighting if you don't know what you are doing a swordsman will beat you instantly.

Real swordfighting doesn't make a good movie or good theater or good video game. It's over too fast.

You don't do blade on blade like they do in the movies because the swords would break after a while.

No one has yet made a game ai that could make a good swordfighting encounter.

Red Steel is a frigging first you would expect the AI to not be that good at swordfighting and it being somewhat limiting in a duel with an AI.

As for graphics those of us who are old school gamers have gotten bored at graphics. Lots of people have thrown their 360s in the closet because those games and console they spent a grand on bored them to death within a week.

Only children who follow anything thrown at them with a shine call the wii graphics unimpressive. They do the job it's the gameplay that matters.

Also note in the E3 you have lots and lots of bluetooth flying around causing interferance. Prototype controllers lots of people with cellphones and other bluetooth devices.

Funny how in less crowded situations with lots less cellphones etc the controllers worked flawlessly from what people said.

It's a frigging demo not a preview not a prior build to release. It's a demo slapped for E3 for them to show off some of it.

You can't seriously think that MGS (http://www.xbox-modchips.com/img/sony-psx-metal-gear-solid-screenshot-big.png) looks better than Wii Sports. The style and the complexity of the environment in MGS looks better than Wii sports, but you can't seriously sit there and tell me that Wii Sport doesn't look better graphiclly (Lighting, resolution, polygons). (http://media.revolution.ign.com/media/826/826987/vids_1.html)

Really, you're just reinforcing Nintendo's point. It's style, art, and detail that make a game look good, not pure power.

Like I said before I would like to see the calibration screen to see what this wii remote can truly do.

Oyeah a true sword fighting game would suck just like fenceing and this is the reason why it hasn't been tried any where else.

Graphics wise... I saw good points but in the demo played on stage. Key things I saw that I need to be fixed to have fun with this game are the look speed some say it was too fast but I found it too slow.... maybe it was the player. Graphics wise... These graphics did not surpase Res evil 4 but from looking at other games like metroid and smash bothers... The Wii was pushins some real polygons around. It seems only some shaders were used... reflection, bump, and particals. But in most of the other games alot more was used and the polygon count seemed to be higher yet no change in frame rate.

Well we have until november to see what the Wii is capable of graphicly. I'm wondering but I havn't done the reshearch but has any of UBsoft's games ever looked better than red steel on the cube? ARE they reusing an old engine? Who knows... The bugs are exactly that bugs... Looks like the programers need time to figure out the best ways to impliment the controller...

Whatever happened to choice? You know, the choice to go into the options menu and turn on Freehand Swordplay? Lately, next gen games have been trying to get rid of many things which used to be vital- the HUD, difficulty levels- and while it works in some cases (the health system in call of duty) it is definately the wrong decision in this game. I've been trying to find a way to email Ubisoft and attempt to baby feed to them the idea of player chosen gameplay mechanics. I can understand the limited slashed for those who aren't very good at sword play, but for those of us that think we might stand a chance, we want to see freehand control. I would pay hundreds for this game if they end up implimenting that.
