Wii impressions: Wii Sports Baseball
Wii Sports: Baseball is no more than a home run derby sim. Don't go into this expecting any deep gameplay and you might actually enjoy it. The controls do a good job of replicating the feel of hitting a baseball, especially if you're in a full out swing like I was. Some gamers were shy at the digital plate, but I was wacking that bat around to no end, a la Gary Sheffield of the much This title should do a good job of easing gamers into the "free style" world on launch day.

I heard this title has pitching. Did you try it? How was it?

After reading it in another section, I REALLY hope WiiSports comes bundled with the system. It seems the perfect title to introduce non gamers to. I already see my whole family playing these sports together. Sure it's basic, but it's a true and true party game.

Yeah this has pack-in written all over it. Honestly, it may be simple but it still looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I wouldn't pay too much for it though.
And it's too bad you can only do four player in tennis.

Man, I think this is the first time anyone has convinced me to purchase a product within 24 hours.
Definately picking up my Wii(ner) when it releases...

I hope Nintendo does do somethingto add some features to the Wii Sports titles. I mean simple is good espicially when trying to a get a non gaming family to play games but it seems that these games are turning into demonstrations. I mean fine pack them with the console but atleast make other gamers come back to these titles after 15 minutes.
I see this games having huge potential. Lets just hope Nintendo uses this potential and turns it in to a worthwile action.

here are my concerns so far:
1) Sensitivity- i don't understand y the sensitivity of th controller cant be controlled in game like for computer games. i read on another site that twilight princess and red steel will not be able to be adjustd. does it really take that much code and effort to do it?
2) Sensor Bar- the writers at joystiq seem to be having a lot of trouble staying within the boundaries of the sensor bar or the bluetooth or something. does anybody think that some improvements need to be made on the connectivity?
3) If the WiiSports Games need to be included with the console. either that or free by download on the virtual console.
4) is there, or is there not, a microphone on the wiimote? there needs to be one!!!
5) I think thats it. I think the Wii is fucking incredible. I can't wait to play with my wii all night long! Good showcase so far at e3. lots of unanswered questions, but if they answered everything now then i wouldnt have nething to be excited about in the next few months. Yay WII!!!

#6 I bet the problems with the controller are related to interference. All the Wii controllers, PS3 controllers and any Wifi networks/Bluetooth phones are all operating on the same frequency band. I don't imagine this would nearly as much of a problem at home.
RageOverdose @ May 10th 2006 8:41PM
@what?
1) You shouldn't have to change sensitivity when the aiming is based on your arm speed(?). Really, I wouldn't want the cursor to lag behind my arm movements. Just move slower or faster if you need to.
2)Still early. It could/probably will be fixed, but maybe it will work better when in your room than on that show floor, mainly because you can move it to more varied areas. Not sure though. Either that, or Joystiq is weird. :P j/k
4)It hasn't been noted, so probably not. I'd say, wait until Nintendo confirms it. Its hard, I know...
As for the WiiSports, it should be bundled. If not that, at least budget priced. $30-$40 (just assuming price ranges here) would be nice for a neat three game package, especially for non-gamers. It would be cool if they added sports through WiiConnect24 or something...Eh, one can hope.
idioteraser @ May 10th 2006 8:48PM
Nintendo press conferance people watch it and listen carefully. Wiisports is three in one titles maybe more added. It will be bundled with the system in order to ease gamers in the wiimote.
It should be noted that bluetooth devices can cause interferance with the wiimote. Lots of cellphone, blackberries in that E3 area. If you watched the press conferance you would have noticed a warning to turn off portable electronic devices.
Those are prototype controllers as well. Figure out the implications of that. Very few people seem to have the problems that joystiq is having maybe because they turn off their cellphones when playing?

Looks good. It'll be a pack in though. SMB/Duck Hunt for the 21st century.
OR!
Mario Galaxies and the New Duck Hunt...how crazy would that be?
Chuck Norris @ May 10th 2006 8:56PM
ha ha ha... Nintendo! man.. I almost wii myself reading this review...
mud3000 @ May 10th 2006 9:27PM
Random thought on Wii... If Nintendo releases a TV headset that the Wiimote plugs into, could we not see some sweet virtual reality gameplay? Discuss.
KwadDamyj @ May 11th 2006 11:52AM
While I realize that the WiiSports games are supposed to be simple, am I the only one who feels that they're perhaps TOO simple for even a non-game-playing audience? I could swear that Solitaire for Windows is probably more complicated than what Nintendo's pitching (no pun intended) here.
However, if they're going to be selling the WiiSports as a bundle for dirt cheap, or if they're just going to plain out bundle it with the system, I'll probably be less concerned.
andrew @ May 20th 2006 8:16PM
Will the Wiimote's performance change depending on what type or size of TV you have?
