DDO adds solo play in new expansion
Turbine is making its presence felt at E3 with the announcement of Twilight Forge, the next Dungeons & Dragons Online expansion module. D&D aficionados can look forward to the addition of eight new monsters and the ability to create characters based on the popular Drow race of dark elves. However, the most significant enhancement is an improved single player experience, which was absent in the core game.Turbine head dungeon master Jeffrey Anderson said DDO subscribers can expect additional character levels and PvP battles in future modules. The game's first expansion, Dragon's Vault, was free of charge, although no pricing information has been announced for Twilight.

It's only a matter of time before they start charging for these modules. The initial slow sales of the game is what's causing them to be free. Turbine is trying to suck us in. If sales ever pick up, they will charge for new content.

if they start to charge they will also instantly loose people. turbine did it for free with their previous games, i think they will continue doing that with ddo. you can't be careful enough with keeping players currently.
as for adding solo content, pretty lame. it was meant to be group focused. now they go to a whole different direction.

As far as single player goes. It will be great to be able to do something while wait for groups to set up.
But as for player vs. player, it's a time bomb that very well might kill the game. DDO was not set up for this like others (Diablo 2). they very well may change the game play to fit this, which will most likely destroy the game :(
