Impressions: Visteon GBA/DVD Player

We checked out the Visteon portable DVD/GBA player again at the Nintendo booth today. Here's what we know according to company reps:
- The unit will retail the first week of July contrary to prior information
- You can buy the thing and have it installed for around $1,200
- As you can see, GBA games DO NOT fill the entire screen as previous marketing materials have eluded to
- The company is aiming to sell to families with young children, hence the GBA integration

Wow, $1200. [Insert "Jadakiss" laugh here]
You can get solo DVD/LCD's for much cheaper. Check out this one sold by Walmart. It comes with a 15 games in 1 controller and two 7 inch LCDs:

If this DVD/GameBoy player was like $300 it would do really well. Let's see what goes down in July.

Why not get those dual 7" screens and a Gamecube w/Gameboy player and put that in your car? A lot more games, and probably cheaper than $1200 too...

It wasn't alluded to in the marketing materials. It was depicted.
