Everything everyone has read is being filtered by their own personal axe-grinding. I'm anti-Sony and pro-Wii so I pick out the "Sony sucks" stuff in what I read and the "OMFG NINTENDO ROX!!" as well. That's just how it goes. The bottom line is that nothing is anything till you make up you own mind based on personal experience not witty quotes and snide remarks. I'm waiting to have that joy with the PS3, the Wii and all those E3 games regardless of what the people here or anywhere else decide they're going to slip into their "reporting" just as I did with my N-Gage, which was universally hated for no good reason. Scott, great post. To your list I add Captain Olimar, Ridley, and Diddy Kong. To your list of characters whose addition would be worth a smiting I add R.O.B., any Kong (other than Diddy and Donkey), Waluigi and Daisy.

Too pretty? Not at all. Do you people even remember how good Smash Bros Melee still looks? This is essentially the same look with more polygons. Hell, if the Dreamcast can do Soul Calibur, then the Wii should be more than capable of this.

Can anyone confirm WiFi online multiplayer for this title. And is anyone concerned with lag for such a fast paced game if it does have online?

@55 WIFI not confirmed yet. They are trying to make sure that there is no lag before they commit to it.

@56 That is not in-game footage. That is from the trailer where they run in the characters from SSB:melee and they then morph into SSB:Brawl characters. Check out the trailer at IGN. It looks great and it's well put together. Especially the Snake introduction. Ahh the cardboard box.

It's really sad that no one's said anything about Samus, the obvious best new feature, the only reason why I'd buy Wii and this game.

I have to say that that amongst all else. That levels look amazing. The SSB series always seems to push the system's abilities beyond what any other game does. That's why I think we'll see final graphics of this caliber in the final version. At that though, I'm still pretty impressed by the graphics in Melee so they could just release it at that level and I'd be happy. As long as the game is just as fun as the others I'll enjoy the hell out of it.

Even the screen shots that don't look "in-game" look like they're using the game engine, so that's a good sign. Mario's looking a bit *too* real, though. The denim texture has got to go. It's creepy. If that's the direction they want to take their mascot, they may as well model him on Captain Lou Albano.

The screenshots definitely look in-game. I had some of the same disbelief as well that I had when Nintey released screenshots for Melee for the 1st time (I think it was either SpaceWorld or E3 2000/2001?). Knowing how they released details about the game and what the final product was, the screens were in-game, which also accompanied the FMV known as "Special Video" in Melee.

There are a lot of confused posts on here so lets clear a few things up:

Confirmed new characters as of right now are : Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Pit (from Kid Icarus), MetaKnight, and, yes, Solid Snake.

Miyamoto/Sakurai (I forget which one) was quoted in an IGN article as saying that more 3rd party characters such as Sonic are still very possible and hinted that there are likely discussions occuring with other companies to get other characters in the game.

It has been confirmed that you will be able to control SSBB with a gamecube controller. Wii-mote control seems unlikely (and impractical).

Online has been confirmed. I'm not sure where people are seeing doubts of online, but pone of the first things Nintendo announced new to the game was online capabilities. Smash Bros. Brawl was originally conceptualized to highlight Nintendo WiFi. It would be idiotic and contrary to everything they have said to release it without WiFi.

Sakurai wasn't forced into development. He was told that a new Smahs Bros. would be made and given the offer, being told by many that they trusted him to be the one person who could make Smash Brothers really come together so well. It would have been made anyways, with or without him, but thank god he is at the helm of this project, because I think we all truly do trust his work.

Also, Sakurai is working with a as-of-yet unnamed development studio that had just finished another project. Hmmm, wonder who it could be.

New smash hell yes i couldnt care less how it looks come on people i still play both smash 64 and smash melee and the looks is not what get me into it.

On another note have any of you seen the sadness trailer thats a game that we shopuld be wondering if what we see is in game it looks awesome.

And one more thing i perfectly sure that when most of those games are released people will be pleasntly surprise.

I REALLY hope they have the ability to release more characters through WiiConnect24. While I thoroughly detest the X-Box in any incarnation, I do wholeheartedly agree that making downloadable content and updates is a Good Thing(tm).

Uh...I thought that there was an option to let you choose which control scheme you wanted. Nothing is finalized yet, so how about people start using "ifs" in there whining, you know, so they don't sound silly for complaining about something that actually ends up happening.

SSBB looks great. There are two things that I never hear on these blogs or anywear else that is kinda scary to me. Nobody talks about the new "Super" moves or two of the new caricters (wario, witch is sorta understandible because there is no moves or anything shown, or metaknight).

I for one love the aspect of the new "super" moves. Kirby's looked perticularly cool to me, but then again I love kirby games. Witch is also why I love the aspect of metaknight. He seems quick and leathal with those multiple sword jabs. Watch the other charicters when metaknight hits them, they look stuned. Also the fact that he can jump more than twice is always good.

The trailer, graphics, music, gameplay, and sound effects look awsome, and I cannot wait to play this game!

Oh YEAH!!!! That movie was AWSOME!!!!! This is to cool!!! The graphics I've seen so far are great!!! I can not believe you get to play as Kid Icarus, armor less Samus.. and SNAKE!!!! Although, they could have left out Wario.. but thats just me. I can't wait to see who else you can play as!!! NINTENDO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you know what, idk why everybody is into bashing eachothers comments, but i have always had a soft spot in my heart for the nintendo charactors, having been weened off the nes, teethed on the snes, and stumbled onto the HUGE N64 in the middle of the night, to currently having a CHEAP Gamecube, with a boatload of games just for chilling with friends, My friends agree, it's more fun when you can all play when you have a group of 16 people and 3 KILL at halo 2 who really wants to play halo, NO one, so go for it give me a simplistic game that never gets old that my friends can pick up and play and kick my tail no matter how long i've played, my girlfriend loves it when she beats me with peach on ssbm given i don't focus my life around it but i don't want to get home from subway and have to actually focus after finishing homework, Ireally do just want to let go and, (no pun intendid but fits perfectly) just Brawl out with my friends.

nintendogs could never take the place of the pokemon and besides what are they gonna do put a ds or a dog bowl, instead of a pokeball, wait that could work,,,

turns out that third party characters might be put in if everything goes ok. just think sonic, ratchet(probably not) and who knows maybe cloud or sephiroth. yeah I know next to impossible but who knows? maybe if the see this they might be motivated to give it a try. I personally have played all nintendo consoles except the wii and considering that sony stole their research from when PSone was being developed (yes that's right sony AND nintendo were working together). just know that I suppose any character could be added if nintendo were given a gentle push.

I thought that Nintendo was possibly messing up this trio of incredible games by adding Snake. Isn't he on other systems. He's not only a Nintendo character. That's what Super Smash Bros is. A Nintendo character brawl. Putting Snake in there messes it up.

And I need to be sure but does anyone know if there will be a normal controller, not the wiimote. How is it possible to play SSBB with a wiimote?

This game is my hype for 2007, the guy who reviewed it obviously humps Halo and other best-sellers because he knows if he rates them well he will attract the people who have the same oppinion (lots of halo humpers out there).
Xbox 360, i own one, and have to say the graphics arent even double the xbox's, their good but not as good as wii's from what ive seen.

This is what a proper game is about, frantic action, and skill has to be high for a place at the top. Obviously this is why the reviewer doesnt like it, he has no skill (im kidding, or am i). The game looks awesome and cant wait for its release :)
