The longest, hardest wait at E3 isn't for Wii
If you saw the queue of people that snaked down the aisle, around the corner, and back through the non expo floor section around the corporate meeting rooms, you might think that the longest, hardest wait at E3 was for Wii.
*eh*
You should have seen the 50-minute line in front of Starbucks for the standard 4:00 coffee break. I don't know where the anxiety is worse: gamers in line waiting for Wii or gaming industry execs deprived of caffeine.
There are no lines for the bathrooms. Weird.

Is this joystiq's way of saying "dispite all our critisim of the wii remote without really answering the question of if its fun to play or not, and our out-of-the-blue unsubstatiated assertion that microsoft stole the show, despite all evidence the the contrary, Wii is in fact incredibly popular, and everyone is really enjoying it and having a great time with it, everyone except us, who are subscribing to the oldest journalistic trick in the book of 'getting ratings by being different'"?
I think it might be. And I thought the way you handled the name change, and posted an entry about a guy wearing a t-shirt saying 'wii is gay', shows your bias on this matter.

Man, I don't know how those guys can hold it that long.

Jeff, that was the only "wii" joke that I found to actually be funny (and very much so, for that matter)
you deserve those 8 stars.

That's because true gamers don't pii. They Wii.
Sean @ May 11th 2006 5:37PM

The longest line is definitely for the Wii.

Honestly there is Wii and everything else. You have to wait in line for hours to get into the Wii area. What they don't tell you is that you can spend an hour in the Wii area and only play one game for abour 1 minute. So there are lines inside of the lines.
NOTHING even cose to compares to the excitement over Wii. The very first day the doors opened, I laughed when everyone walked through the Sony booth to go straight to Wii. The best are the Sony fanboys with their shirts making fun of Wii. All of them went to the Nintendo booth first (along with almost everyone else). Like it or hate it, it's all about the Wii. You can walk up at any moment and play Grand Turismo for PS3 with no wait.
I haven't been keeping up with Joystiq, because I've been at E3, so I dont know what they've posted thus far, but I can honestly tell you that the short time I had with Wii made me a believer. I only got to play the tennis game, but damn it was fun. The controller worked exactly like it should've.
While I am rambling on about my personal reviews, I will mention that the PS3 looked much BETTER than I thought it would. Gran Turismo looks leaps and bounds better than Project Gotham Racing (I am talking graphics-wise). Well, it doesn't completly outclass 360, but there is a difference (kinda like the difference between PS2 and Xbox last generation).
Honestly, Microsoft seemed a little soft this year. But, Gears of War looked disgustingly cool. It is in a class all by itself when it comes to 360 games. I am a hardcore gamer and have pretty much every marquee 360 game thats come out thus far. None of them even come close to Gears of War. Prey looked nice too, but nowhere near the level of Gears. Also, while we are talking about Microsoft, I should mention that Vista looks great. It is truly a beautiful OS. I think this will appeal to alot of the casual users that are drifting towards the eye candy and simplicity of Apple OSX. It definetly hold its own. Also, all of the Xbox Live Arcade stuff looks great. Everyone was raving about the first round of XBLA games that have came out over the past year. Well, the new batch that is coming out definetly surpasses the current offerings. Also, the best titles seem to be the "original" titles made for XBLA. Some of them look great.
Looking forward I honestly think Wii is going to have a bigger impact than I anticipated. Nintendo will OWN the kids market. And I think the trick is just getting people to play this system. It truly is a new experience, this new interface simply "just works". I was scared that it just wouldn't feel right, and the movement wouldn't be natural. I feel a lot less worried now. If games controls feel this natural already, I can't wait to see what will be at E3 next year for Wii. Also, something I never heard even one time from anyone...These graphics suck. I forgot to even look at the graphics. When you get the controller in your hand, it is the last thing you even think about. With the cheap pricetag and the strong first party games, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo came back strong and took the market lead again. It is honestly that good.

Thanks Mike. I found your comment better than the post. Hardcore gamers who owns a 360, raving about how great Wii is (after playing one at E3). By New Years I will be a believer too.
A post about coffee and pee breaks, that happens to mention the Nintendo Wii. I think it was a setup, and we all walked right into it. Wii=Pee joke. I laughed too. Thanks Joystiq. I wish I could be there with you.
