It is a shame Freedom Wings was a bust, but there was another flight game.

DS Air plays quite well
http://e3src.nintendo.com/games/ds/ds_air/

It and Star Fox DS show it can be done.

I'm glad you think you're reviewing games, but you DO realise that almost every game at E3 isn't in it's final form, right?

Right?

And what's with:
"...you have to fly, look around and attempt to gun down enemy planes all at the same time..."

How is this any different to any other plane combat game?

I suspect the game suffers fromt he 'Mutant Gamer' syndrome found on some poorly design DS games where the player needs three hands to effectively operate the game.

Long ago there was a Scramble clone on the Atari 800. I loved the arcade machine but having only one controller button made it impossible to duplicate the guns and bombs controls. The solution was to plug in a second joystick and use its button for one of the weapons. This worked if you played barefoot and were fairly dextrous with your big toe.

I don't know why but the problem of certain DS games reminds me of that. Also, a very early Psygnosis title for the Atari ST that looked great but was impossible to play without a well coordinated partner rapidly executing keyboard commands while the main player manned the mouse and part of the keyboard.

From the screenshot this appears to be the English version of "Ore no Sentouki," which unfortunately is in its final form. It has a weird semi-autopilot control scheme that doesn't work all that well.
