Wii stampede crushes Joystiq blogger

Joystiq's Blake Snow lost his media badge Friday morning when he was nearly trampled by hundreds of Wii procrastinaters stampeding towards the Nintendo booth. The assumption that the line would thin out on the final day of the expo was apparently shared by a large number of fans -- fans who were suddenly willing to push, shove and claw their way to a motion sensing controller as the West Hall doors opened. A shaken Blake lost his media badge in the crush, but he was able to...er...trade it for another one that fell to the carpet. He will now be posting as Quang Nguyen.

I know Quang. He's mad and wants his ticket back.

Eh, not as bad as the year I once attended as "Amy Mg"..... I don't like to talk about it.
Quang Nguyen @ May 12th 2006 5:09PM
I want my badge back!
Quang Nguyen @ May 12th 2006 5:20PM
This is absolutely ridiculous. Blatantly stealing from me is one thing, but actually reporting the incident as news is just juvenile. If my media badge is not returned to me immediately I will have no choice but to take legal action. I do not find this the least bit amusing.
Also, A/S/L?? WANNA CYBER LOLOL?

I really don't think all this is very damn funny. I didn't get to play with Wii!
Quang Nguyen @ May 12th 2006 5:26PM
Funny! I ended up with your badge! But, unfortunately, now people have toruble pronouncing my new fake name, Blake Snow.
Crazy Americans.

I think Joystiq commenters need to take a course in originality =(
Spoon @ May 12th 2006 5:34PM
The best part is that this Quang Nguyen guy has no idea there's like thirty people being him on a blog. How awesome would it be if he finds Joystiq and sees all the comments he left? haha

I believe one of these guys is the man in question..

I don't know what was different about Thursday (I didn't get to come on Friday), but Wednesday was really easy to get into Nintendo. On Wednesday, I was within the first 50-100 in the doors and I headed straight to the Wii line. I got in within 30-40 minutes.
On Thursday, once again, I was within the first 50-100 in the doors and went straight to the Wii line, but the line was already all the way around the exhibit. I have no idea how that happened on than the fact that exhibitors were let in early and they all lined up for the Wii.
I was slightly disappointed but I had a good time on Wednesday with the Wii.
Poor Blake... or Quang.
Take care.
